To commemorate and celebrate Black History Month as well as the opening of The Canoville Suite at Stamford Bridge, we spoke to Paul Canoville about realising the difference he had made for black footballers, being overwhelmed at the banner in his honour in The Shed End, and the pride of seeing multiple young black players breaking through into the Chelsea first team.

I only know Canoville's story from reading books on Chelsea FC's history. To see Paul naming the current generation of black players as his legacy is awe inspiring. Bravo to Roman for not shying away from the ugly side of Chelsea FC and proactively addressing anti-Semitism and other social issues. Proud to be a blue!

I met him on Wednesday, playing Crystal Palace funny enough, what a true gentleman and legend, he had time for everyone nothing was a problem and he was so down to earth, he richly deserves to have the biggest suite named after him, well done Sir 👏👏👏
