Anka is notoriously aloof and short-fused, but clearly is a very intelligent, well-read and thoughtful man. I enjoyed this very much and glad I got to learn something more about this talented artist.

To always know that you were in Poland when the president was shot is horrific to experience at such a young man. I stayed at the Victorian hotel on the square & the food was fabulous. I was an Ambassador to Poland & Russia & I know they appreciate music. Thanks for being the greatest performer. You have the highest integrity! 🙏❤️

Madeleine he also had a lazy eye that was fixed at the same time. Amazing how it changed his whole face from a “cute kid” to a sexy heartthrob. Lots of stars had plastic surgery in the 50’s, and I think they had much better results back then because the surgeons were much more qualified than they are these days!

His voice was super raspy in that clip from 1963. He must have had a good cry when he got word of the assassination of JFK and then had to take the stage. I would love to hear the whole announcement that he made for context.

I don’t know you much but you ,Paul, but I just sensed that you were crushed by Kennedy’s death because you knew much ahead of time about it and when you heard that they actually did it, you just couldn’t take. He said ,I worked for the mob in the casinos, which makes it very evidently as some of us know that the mob did it.

"The guys get shirts! The guys get shirts! I slice like a hammer!" I heard another story of Sinatra getting his teeth knocked out so I'm not sure if the two stories are confused or whether he had his teeth knocked out twice, and twice by a Jew. In the story I read he kept tormenting some big player in the audience and he finally got on stage and knocked Sinatra's front teeth out. Later Sinatra quipped, "Never fight a Jew in the Desert" (desert/Desert). Sinatra by his own admission was a gold caret manic-depressive so that would explain his mood swings. But from all the evidence when Sinatra was your friend he was your friend. One of my favorite stories is at a party a guest knocked over a prized relic of some kind (one of a pair) and his daughter gasped. Dad gave her an angry look and promptly knocked over the other piece and put his army around the guest and told her not to worry about it. I think this incident is included in Guy Talese's celebrated Esquire article on Old Blue Eyes, I think available online. As for Tiger Woods, here is an interesting conundrum. We all know of course that his game declined after the sex scandal; but did it decline because of the scandal or because it was exposed? Obviously that kind of promiscuous sex helped his game before the scandal and we assume he stopped that afterwards, and his game has declined since. He might never have won all those awards without that sex. We just don't know.
