Yes she does do that. However Chaka's voice is just so damn powerful that it can be very difficult to hear other sings over her. But if their was anyone who could do that it would be Patti no questions.

Can we pause to recognize the fact that patti was 72 year old here and singing like 30.... just amazing

Patti sang low the whole song to support Chaka's higher tones, and I thought they sounded good together, despite some detraction in the comments, but when Patti decided to THROW that high soprano on them at the end, I went to Heaven! Her note at 1:58 was AMAZING! Chaka and Patti all day! Those two are my girls (even though I don't like hearing people cover Aretha's songs because Aretha is not nice about critiquing people and her voice is just so iconic and unique that it just never sounds right when others cover).

I saw them both together in the late nineties or early two thousand, Patti struggled something awful throughout her set, Chaka was in rare form, no breaks in between her set at all. Patti herself said that Chaka is truly blessed with Beauty and a one of a kind, powerful instrument.

This generation have good singers. I think the song writing has been the issue. Previous generations had Babyface, Diane Warren, Stevie Wonder and the list goes on and on. This generation don’t have good songwriters even though the trauma and sadness is still alive. They make better get drunk and workout music but not good love songs

It was an unrehearsed performance and Chaka has a lot of love for Patti, she allowed Patti to lead. Obviously you're not familiar with Chaka's concerts, when she let Whitney, Lalah Hathaway, Rahsaan Patterson and many others perform on stage with her, she always graciously allow them to do their thing and she follows. She's never been a messy singer and try to upstage any of her musical peers.

I love seeing these two together. Growing up, Chaka was my favorite but I would never miss Ms. Patti when she was in Chicago. She was my best friend's favorite. Patti always blew us away.
