पत्थर के ख़ुदा पत्थर के सनम पत्थर के ही इंसाँ पाए हैं तुम शहर-ए-मुहब्बत कहते हो, हम जान बचाकर आए हैं बुतख़ाना समझते हो जिसको पूछो ना वहाँ क्या हालत हैं हम लोग वहीं से लौटे हैं बस शुक्र करो लौट आए हैं हम सोच रहे हैं मुद्दत से अब उम्र गुज़ारें भी तो कहाँ सहरा में खु़शी के फूल नहीं, शहरों में ग़मों के साए हैं (सहरा = जंगल, रेगिस्तान) होठों पे तबस्सुम हल्का-सा आंखों में नमी सी ऐ 'फ़ाकिर' हम अहल-ए-मुहब्बत पर अकसर ऐसे भी ज़माने आए हैं (तबस्सुम = मुस्कराहट), (अहल-ए-मुहब्बत = मुहब्बत करने वाले लोग) -सुदर्शन फ़ाकिर
