Same here, I love ALL of the 2nd generation starters. Gen 1 starters are good, but I do think both Gen 2 and Gen 5 starts and its evolutions are my absolute favorites of all time.

For anyone genuinely curious, prior to finding the shiny starter, SmallAnt was asked to measure his hand, he did it out of frame and said it was almost 9 inches. So, people wouldn’t let it go.

I remember that my first ever shiny was a Spinda when I was like 7. I had no idea what a shiny Pokemon was and only caught it because it was green and green was my favorite color. A few years later, I found out what it was and thought: “Oh, cool! That was actually a shiny!” Even MORE years later, I found out that it was, quite literally, one in an approximate four billion, and thought to myself: “Holy SHIT-,”

In HGSS an old man in Pewter City near the Route 3 entrance gives you a Silver Wing/ Rainbow Wing depending on which game you have which lets you fight the other games Legendary. Which is pretty cool tbh that you can just straight up fight both legends in the one game with no shenanigans or anything.

@@purpleluckxd371 I actually went and looked at Smant's VOD to see and you are indeed right, my bad. I just saw some of the Electrodes missing and assumed he did that but I also checked at the points he did kill an Electrode but he still counted it as a reset.

My hopes are for Chikorita to be one of the starters for Legends Unova (with the other 2 hopefully being Torchic and Popplio) and all the starters have regional variants of /Dragon.

I watched your Ceebi video to help me cope as I was hunting my own Celebi a month or so ago lol. I want to say it ended up around 12k-15k encounters but I wasn’t literally keeping track, just averaging based on how long I did it and how efficient I’d been. I feel your pain , and now I’m about 10k in for Suicune haha

2 months ago, I did a HeartGold Shiny Badge Quest (Johto Only), got 9 shinies with total of 15,798 resets & 25,703 encounters. I only went for Gift/Static mons for the shinies.

Im playing Soul Silver right now for nuzlocke purposes (with Meganium. Whoop whoop. Chikorita gang. Definitely didnt pick a starter at random) and managed to get a full odds shiny. It was a hoppip. Still never hurts to have an extra leech seeder

Chikorita fans represent! I love grass starters and I love dinosaurs. The Chikorita line will always be among my favorites because it’s the first sauropod Pokémon (my favorite kind of dinosaur).

I started a pokemon Heartgold shiny only run in 2018... I only have 3 badges and 3 shinies, my Cyndaquil took me 5 years of almost constant shiny hunting and now I have to stop because my 3DS won’t stop crashing. Needless to say he got pretty lucky.

I've probably had that many resets for my shiny lugia. I got one from soul silver and was in kanto in 2021 before my car accident where I lost the cartridge. I'm back up to Lugia and have been trying to reclaim the lost shiny for ages, using the train rides to and from work, lunch breaks. Months of blue lugia

Chikorita is my favorite Johto starter, and I always pick it when I play a Johto game. :)

I'm not a big fan of chikorita or meganium, but bayleef is in my top 3 favorite pokemon.

In my experience people tend to generally like Chikorita-lines design... But not the fact that is is just a horrible Pokémon stat and movepool-wise. I also belong to that group. Gib Meganium something to make it actually good. :( edit: Yes, you can get both box legendaries in both games. One you can catch pre-E4 and it will be lvl 45 and other will be catchable after reaching Pewter City and getting a key item (if I remember the process correctly) and going to it nest (The Tin Tower for Ho-Oh and the island cave thing for Lugia)

It really doesn't help that all of the gyms with types that grass is good against are in Kanto and that the two first gyms are resistant to grass. They really set poor Chikorita up for failure which is sad because I really like the Chikorita line.

tried a SBQ in Soul Silver, gave up because it was very time-consuming

The ultimate challenge, Pokemon but i can only use gen 1 shiny pokemon. ( I am refurring to the small chance that the ivs line up so when a pokemon is transfered to gold/silver it is shiny)

I actually fell in love with chikorita when I was young. Did my first ever run with her. Then found out typhlosian and totidile were the goat. So then did a 2nd and 3rd playthrough with them. I'm just glad to know I beat it with the worst starter. Without knowing at all.

I cant like umbreons shiny, since in stadium as I assume you know, umbreon has its rings change colors, which makes the shiny unremarkable to me, if they did a white body with gold rings, that would been better, in my opinion of course. What is everyone else's opinion on shiny umbreon, let me know if you can think of any other improvements or if you like it the way it is

Unpopular opinion: All of the gen 3 starters are goated. Meganium line deserves more love, Feraligatr line is dope, and Typhlosion line is my favorite starter line
