This is maybe a little rant about the patternmakers job. His duty to try and combine the needs of the customer and the foundry. Patternmaking is an interesting trade, a good understanding of machining and foundry requirements is necessary. A little more time spent on the pattern means less time spent in the foundry and possibly the machine shop.
