@三民主義統一中國!中華民國派! 已经改朝换代了，醒醒吧，从清朝到中华民国到现在的中华人民共和国。中华民国在台湾已经名存实亡了，国民党跑到台湾，我在福建这边，小时候飞机飞到我们大陆来发传单说都是中国人还要反攻大陆，我们都等了好几十年了，等你们反攻过来解放我们呀，要是没有能力那我们就攻过去好吗，反正国民党最后的目的和我们都一样，蒋介石的遗愿也是要统一中国把他的遗体埋在大陆南京，等统一了我们中国政府就安排好了，可惜看看现在的台湾被民进党统治了打压了洗脑了，像个孬种。我总能说呵呵。中华民族的伟大复兴只能靠中国共产党实现了。我们拭目以待！

I am 71 from Philippines. We sang SanMinChui in the 50's. It took me a while to learn the ChiLai tune. I pray to heaven mainland and Taiwan would become One again peacefully even if not in my lifetime.

I know a lady that was there around Apr 15, 1989 - Jun 5, 1989. She doesn't share your admiration, her brother was trampled to death after Chinese police started shooting their own citizens. Yeah, China has a lot to be proud of. Too bad youtube is illegal in China, huh?

@Zoya L I as a Chinese are ashamed of how pathethic our PLA is. Our navy is so weak that the US navy could travel up the entire Yangtze and Yellow River whitout Beijing being able to stop them. What a shame for the troops of Xi Jinping!

my tear come out at that moment. Im Chinese, and im in Sydney, Australia now.

You don't have to afraid of Chinese soldiers. They just look like very serious and no facial expression , but they will definitely help you when you meet some problems, they won't hurt you if you don't break the law . " 為人民服務 " is the number one rule in their handbook.

Deeply appreciate your film guys! When I watch the flag raising and listen to the national anthem, I am tearly eyed. Love my motherland, she has suffered so much yet still standing strong for her kids...all us Chinese.

This reminds me that it' been 23 yrs since the last time I watched the Flag Raising in 1997, when HK is returning, thousands of people flood into Beijing for a celebration, my parents took me too, and the hotel is full, we ended up sleeping in underground tunnel with many others. lol, warm childhood memories.

Amazing video, filled with words of wisdom. The word on the street is that you deserve a Nobel Peace Prize and there should be libraries, streets and villages named after you. In the hearts of millions of Brits, you are a national hero, because you bring hope and compassion to communities across Britain.

Yes, I have Chinese ancestry running through my blood and to think that our Tangshan, has gone through so many trials and tribulations, is finally firmly in control of it's own destiny and showing the world it's magnificence. I too did shed a few tears!

每次去看升国旗都很激动

I almost cried while watching this video. I used to work in Xizhimen Beijing and I had to travel to pass the Tian' Anmen Square as I lived quite close to it. Thank you for showing this to us.

I'm from China and this is the first time I see the flag raising in Tian'anmen Square... Ironically i've lived in Beijing for 3 years in elementary school but it was just too early for me to get up and watch this (my auntie and my cousin did manage to get up and go enjoy this tho). Thank you for sharing this video, i nearly cried watching this; it's been a hard year for many Chinese people but we made it through; hopefully the world is going back to normal soon

I was there about 7 years ago, also got up super early. The ceremony is amazing and I always wanted to visit China again, China is truly a miracle.

What a lot of people don't understand is why China turned communist. It's because they suffered badly at the hands of colonialism, imperialism and interference. This is why the national anthem starts with "Arise, ye who refuse to be slaves, With our flesh and blood, let us build a new Great Wall, As China faces her greatest peril". No doubt people will point to The Great Leap forward in the 50s, and Tiananmen Square in the 80s. Those were dark days, but equally 30+ years ago. If you ask Chinese people they weren't oblivious but realise it was a huge and tough sacrifice to reset their nation after WW2. Since then under multiple rounds of new leaders, they have made significant strides to build a nation from scratch - jumping from the fields to factories, to a high-tech revolution. They've tackled poverty like no other nation has, giving everyone a roof over their heads, food to eat and jobs to do. It's a bit like dwelling how the United Kingdom employed slaves, stripped India of its resources, tried to invade Tibet, or entering an illegal war in Iraq, killing thousands of innocent people.... or the US committing genocide against native Indians, killing millions of innocent people around the world and leaving hundreds of thousands of deformed babies in Vietnam... Yet people will say "that was history". However, the difference is that the UK and US continue to profit from illegal wars and turning a blind eye on atrocities conducted by them, or their allies, instead influence the media to smear China to divert attention from problems closer to home. Vietnam is also communist, but relatively poorer and less of a threat. The US is anti-communist but never a whisper against them. Hong Kong - the third freest place on Earth, before the US and UK decided to intervene and create an uprising over, well, a problem which didn't even exist if you boil down to it. Now the UK is "welcoming" Hong Kongers with BNOs and money, but is turning its back on multiple refugees from countries it invaded of which displacing innocent citizens.

Thank you very much. Unfortunately, you can never wake up a person who pretends to sleep. They cannot accept the fact of China's rise, so they choose to live in the past, which in turn may make them a bit happier.

I had been Tiananmen Square once when I was 12 with my friends. I was so sleepy because I need to wake up so early hahaha, but a very good memory in my life!!!

The original story of Chinese troops on the night of 3 and 4 June, 1989 machine-gunning hundreds of innocent student protesters in Beijing's iconic Tiananmen Square has since been *thoroughly discredited* by the many witnesses there at the time -- among them a Spanish TVE television crew, a Reuters correspondent and protesters themselves, who say that *nothing happened* other than a military unit entering and asking several hundred of those remaining to leave the Square late that night.

@@luke144 China is currently *at peace and not at war* with any country, since our last major conflict in 1979. Instead of making war, China is building infrastructure like _roads, railways, highways, bridges, tunnels, powerstations, dams, ports, airports,_ etc and investing in developing countries like Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and also African countries like Nigeria, Kenya, Chad, Sudan, Ghana, Mozambique, Tanzania, etc. Whereas the United States is *warmonger* being involved in Gulf War, Iraq War, Afghan War, Libyan War, Syrian War, Yemen War, etc, even in the 21st century. USA is bombing in those Middle Eastern countries and enacting regime change by cutting off their "heads" (Saddam Hussein, Muammar Gaddafi, etc) and then installing their own US puppet governments in place. So which country is the real threat to humanity here?

I've seen the ceremony six years ago, when I was a college student that was a chilly morning.

A couple of years ago, my mom told me she watched the flag-raising ceremony when she was on business travel in Beijing, and she had not expected that she would feel so touched and being teary when she was watching that. Maybe she thought of what China and Chinese people had experienced and suffered for the last decades, which is sad. But now China has been developing a lot and people are getting a better life, which means how much effort we've been making to get this accomplishment! Being proud of China!

Welcome to my hometown Barrett (The father and the son...lol). I never watched this ceremony in person since I was born in Beijing. Now, it‘’s a must have when next time I go back to her. Have been living in Canada for over 12 years and WANT it harder and harder every SINGLE year. You guys are GREAT!

they build a fence around the Flag Pole now? i visit this event when sunset in 2016 or 2017 i forgot which year and people can very close to that pole very close i mean like 10-15 meters and i got impression they to flaq raising every day

We chinese are so poor and are forced to work in factories where they do not allow for a short holiday, so we cannot see the flag ceremony in Beijing. What a shame for China and our slavery inspired economic system!

During the Chinese Civil War, the Nationalist Kuomintang had massive wealth (they taxed peasants heavily) they had superior weapons and superior numbers over the communists, yet they still lost the mainland to dirt-poor, heavily outnumbered, ill-equipped, starving Communist peasants and had to flee to Taiwan. This demonstrates KMT's *gross incompetence* in their right to rule the mainland, and supports the communists right to rule the mainland.

I remember when I was in college (in Beijing). One night I was chatting with my friends, and one of us said: "how about we ride bikes to the square and watch the flag raising the next morning?". So we did. Unfortunately we were too optimistic and we slept over. By the time we got there the ceremony had finished. But we got to see different scenes of Beijing at dawn, like donkeys on the street.

Haha. I did ride a bike to the square to watch the flag-raising with my students years ago. since we got there much earlier at about 4:30 am, we had the best place for it. Very exciting !

Hi, Lee and Oli, great to see you made it! Unity is at the heart of Chinese culture. That gate with Chairman Mao's portrait is called 'the Gate of Heavenly Peace'. When you step through the gate, you step through the history from ancient imperial city to new socialist capital. On the other side of the square, opposite the gate, is the Chairman Mao Memorial Hall, the final resting place of Chairman Mao Zedong. On the eastern side is the National Museum of China that exhibits the country's arts and history. It is one of the largest museums in the world. On the western side is the Great Hall of the People, which is used for legislative and ceremonial activities by the government. In front of the Chairman Mao Memorial Hall is the Monument to the People's Heroes, which is a national monument to the martyrs of revolutionary struggle during the 19th and 20th centuries. The street that runs across the square from the east to the west is called Chang'an Jie (or Chang'an Avenue), which is the longest and widest street in the world. Quite emotional every time when l saw this impressive Flag raising ceremony. Patriotic is the feeling really from the heart of every Chinese people

I was there in 2012 as a member of a visiting delegation to Tsinghua University, and they arranged for us to go see the flag raising ceremony. Because during the summer the sunrise is super early, so we actually were at the Square at 3:30 in the morning... but I can assure you, waking up that super early (or not sleeping the night before) was definitely worth it. And yeah I was in the same zone as you guys did, and I definitely remember that tunnel that you guys walked through.

It’s such a huuuge square, makes you feel really small and also surrounded by those grand government buildings, I guess that’s the whole point. But yeah I was lucky to visit it when it was pretty much empty, got to take some great photos.

Actually there is only one government building around the square, the others are the Great Hall of the People (like Capitol in the US), the National Museum of China, Mao Zedong Memorial Hall, and Tiananmen.

Tiananmen Square Massacre is a Myth propagated by the British. All verified eyewitness accounts present in Tiananmen Square Jun 1989 say that *Nothing Happened* other than a military unit entering and asking several hundred of those remaining to leave the Square late that night. _The original story of Chinese troops on the night of 3 and 4 June, 1989 machine-gunning hundreds of innocent student protesters in Beijing's iconic Tiananmen Square has since been thoroughly discredited by the many witnesses there at the time -- among them a Spanish TVE television crew, a Reuters correspondent and protesters themselves, who say that nothing happened other than a military unit entering and asking several hundred of those remaining to leave the Square late that night._

@@qingdaocitizen7957 Unclassified western sources already show there was not the massacre as reported in the square. Most of the clashes took place away from Tianamen. It was a revolt - tanks were being burnt and soldiers hung from bridges. "Tank Man" photo was taken the day after and he was stopping tanks from LEAVING the square. You have been lied to.
