I discovered this show KUA from a good friend a few years ago and have not missed an episode since. My regret is that I never got to see all of them when the series began. But, now I see the reruns and they are hilarious. Time passes all too soon for multi- talented actors such as Hyacinth and Richard to be really appreciated by American audiences. Thank you BBC for bringing such humor into our lives.

Were I a citizen of England, I would say Patricia Routledge is a "national treasure." But since I'm a citizen of the United States, I'll just say Miss Routledge is an "imported treat," one whom we don't get a chance to see as often as we should. Does anyone know if Miss Routledge is still acting or retired? The reruns of "Keeping Up Appearances" and "Hetty Wainthropp Investigates" are a few years old by now, and I've seen no other programs with this fine actress since.

Since I first saw Keeping up Appearances, I've always been wondering how Patricia Routledge could seem so naturally... irritating. I mean, it's as if she's not acting, which is a great compliment. I can usually imagine actors and actresses acting "normally" in interviews, but not this time. This is the first time I see her out of character, actually. Almost didn't want to spoil that magic. She's a good actress.

@dackelmommy And if you like Clive Swift, who plays "Richard Bucket" on "Keeping Up Appearances," he co-stars in a fairly amusing Britcom called "Old Guys," which may still be in production. That series also features Jane Asher, sister of legendary musician (the 1960s' pop duo Peter & Gordon) and producer (Linda Ronstadt's hits) Peter Asher. Miss Asher was also the romantic partner of Sir Paul McCartney in the '60s, prior to McCartney having met & married Linda Eastman.

And if one wants to delve beyond mere comic twosomes, of course there are many classics of American television, from "The Jack Benny Program" and "Leave it to Beaver, to "The Golden Girls" and "Curb Your Enthusiasm," all finely produced, well acted and written.

@OldOrrie Of course, "All In The Family" was derived from the British series "Till Death Us Do Part." But with some excellent writing, under the supervision of creator/producer Norman Lear, and a top-notch ensemble of guest and supporting players (many from the New York stage), "All In The Family" became a uniquely American classic in its own right.

@englishbayman As for "Steptoe & Son," that series has never been broadcast on television in my area. However, I am aware that the American series "Sanford & Son" was loosely based on that series. I never much cared for "Sanford & Son," even though I did enjoy a few of producer Norman Lear's other series', most notably "All in the Family" and "Maude," the former of which was also adapted from a British series, "Till Death Us Do Part."
