Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous Review - The Spider, The Succubus, and The Saint of Redemption

Ойындар

Thank you all for 2000 subs!
Honestly never thought I'd make it to this, so genuinely thank you all!
In regards to the review; sorry for the wait...
This has been a game I really care about and sunk an ungodly amount of hours into making this review of.
Seriously I had about 150 hours in the game when I started this review and 240 by the time I finished. And that 90 extra hours is mostly from gathering extra footage for this.
I don't even want to think about the total time I spent editing...
This was originally meant to come out in June in you can believe it haha.
Anyway, a Review of Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous. As a long time pathfinder fan this one was a joy to playthrough and Owlcat Studios really did an amazing job, with this standing head and shoulders over their previous title kingmaker. Which given that, that was their first game and this is only their second, it is nothing less than commendable.
Of course this being an 100 hour CRPG I did not actually finish the review... Sorry. This is part 1, part 2 will be out... When it's done! Hopefully before the end of the year, but I'm not sure given this one took 5 months to make.
Fun fact the total wordcount for the whole review is 21,142, making it longer than a good deal of my friend university dissertations.

Oh and if you include "No quarter for Gnomes" in your comment I'll ❤ it.
See you all in the next one, and thanks for sticking with me!

You got some parts wrong. Not taking Wenduag or not doing the demon decision doesn't lock you out of any mythic paths. Even if you make no decisions for the demon mythic path you can still choose it at the end of Act2. All the other mythic paths are unlocked based on decisions you make in the game not based on choices in the prologue in fact choices in the prologue don't matter at all besides between Lann and Wenduag until you wake up in Defenders hearth.

20:49 It's very much simplified, from glancing at my friend playing it it just seemed like an experience of "Who has a bigger army", Heroes is a lot different in that aspect because it focues heavily on minimising losses to not get fucked late game. To make that possible every Pole is force taught the importance of movement ranges, half damage ranges for archers and how to effectively kill the archers as fast as possible. Once that is done, you will be beaten up disciplinarily by the larger Pole for picking necropolis when it was explicitly mentioned that it is banned because it's busted.

Made me sad that Areelu wasn't an option in WoTR, then again she is kinda [SPOILERS] so I can understand why the devs didn't include her. I haven't played the two Pathfinder computer games yet, but I have them in my GOG list, waiting for winter. Can anyone tell me the purpose (if any) of romantic RP with the NPCs? In Skyrim they make 100 gold a day & hand you sandwiches. In Fallout 4 you can use the constructed nookie on synth Curie to grant yourself a temporary XP bonus. Is there anything similar which would make playing along with the grappling matches appealing to people who aren't 14?

  • @devalk_

Yes they can do, Some change the outcomes of events and other can give buffs. Wenduag for instance grants the Mongrel's Blessing: Immunity to death effects, poison, and electricity. Whenever you land a hit in melee, the enemy must pass a Fortitude saving throw or suffer one permanent negative level I don't recall them doing anything in the first game however

To give a glimpse behind the curtain; I started off aiming for an evil leaning playthrough, But I ended up going down the Azata route and then getting invested in Ember To the point where Ember basically ended up redeeming me By that point Lann was already dead though, and Wenduag's redemption that takes place during her romance route fits well into the theme I'm going for. tl;dr Lann was a necessary sacrifice for everyone else's character development.

Fun Review. However you spoil WAY too much with no warning or skip timestamp

I loved the game, wanted to replay it but I cant.Idk,in open world rpgs such like fallout games I can go my way and explore places I havent been for the second playtrough pretty fast but in pathfinder the content is mostly the same so I cant just replay it right away.Pillars of eternity 2 is better in this term but I wish wotr was like this too.

It's also why Pillars 2 is a shitty cRPG, because open-world kills the narrative. Thank god Owlcat understands that, I'm so tired of every developer trying to cram the "open-world" aspect into every game just to appease the masses who don't understand game design.
