3:09 Don't fall for their bait and switch guys; Fntastic didn't refund a darn thing. STEAM DID. The only reason the money was returned in full was because steam stepped in and FORCED them to do so. People seem to forget that steam withholds payments for *3 months* for reasons including exactly this situation. A company set on scamming it's "customers" sure as heck didn't gain a conscience over-night. I can say without a shred of doubt that ZERO refunds would have been issued if Fnatstic was the one ultimately deciding whether or not they were issued.

True. Cyberpunk 2077 and No Man's Skyhad big issues at release and No Man's Sky in particular became a laughing stock. What did they do? They didn't go around gaslightning gamers or content crerators (not that I'm aware anyway). They sat and turned their game into a decent, playable experience. Thats what passion for making games is about. Now, nobody's picking on those game studios. But Fntastic? They didn't care about their game, at all. The decision to shut down everything came BEFORE they aunched the first hot fix.

if the playerbase "liked" the game, they would still play the game regardless of the negative reviews. did they think youtubers have voodoo magic to make their existing playerbase disappear?

As a consumer, you really have to appreciate small developers and publishers. Having no PR-department makes it easy to sus out who’s genuine and who’s bitter and greedy.

Never EVER trust a person who tries to blame literally anyone else before admitting any blame. NEVER. If anyone you know is like that, CUT ANY TIES and STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM THEM. Believe me, you'll thank me later.

*To everyone asking Yong to cover how "Like A Dragon" is charging for NG+;* He is almost certainly under an NDA which is standard practice in the industry. Especially for contract workers which most voice actors are. Depending on the details of his NDA he either can't talk about the game, *at all* except during very specific pre-planmed promotional stuff. Or, he can't talk about the game negatively in anyway. As there's no way to address this in any positive way, the only way to keep himself out of legal hot water is to stay quiet on the subject. Does it suck? Yes. But this is the world we live in. I for one think the corporate world overuses NDAs and makes them overly broad and would love to see NDAs legislated. But until such times as that happens, anyone working for any major corporation in any capacity gets stangled by NDAs. So no point in asking him. *Edited for a typo*

Now they're using their own website with just those screenshots of the statements to say their crap. These two are the absolute definition of clowns.

always knew the day before was a scam. One look at the studios track record will tell you everything you need to know about them so none of the drama came as a suprise. wish an actual competent company would make the game that was originally envisioned.

I hope whoever is in charge of leading. This team is never allowed to make another garbage game again or any game for that matter. Go find another career.

They tried to sponsor me once, and it looked sketchy, so i dm'd them on twitter and they said it wasnt them. They then made a post on twitter saying that they arent running Sponsorships. But part of me wonders if that was them. Were they running a fake sponsor campaign to get youtubers to promote the game- then not pay, and ultimately claim they had no part in it?

The Greatest contribution Fntastic ever done is created this big juicy drama, and i'm loving it

Palworld is proof early access can succeed and gain respect if your willingto put the work, while Day Before is proof Scams like this won't profit. Truly 2 good lessons in gaming.

Palworld will be in the same state as Craftopia, the precedent game from that company, craftopia should have been out of EA 3 year ago per their statement... still not and news around tell they did start another game ... Palwaold is just a shitty ARK clone with a pokemon who gonna sold with the EA, and be forgoteen like Valheim in 3 months

@@kylewoodowens4488 didn't say the contrary, but calling Palworld a success is way to soon, for the player at least, for the company, it's already a jackpot The problem is what is after, and past game doesn't give a good picture

​​​@@dther6314 I've seen people say they put 50 hours or so into Palworld and had a blast that far. Not sure what some are expecting? Like the new Skyrim, WoW or CS:GO? A trizillion hours of game? That's very unrealistic. And also unhealthy in a sense, both for players and games. Because being able to accumulate so many hours usually comes with a heavy price, like an absurd amount of grind. People demand things and by that are asking to be served poison without even being aware of it. If I can manage to get 50~ hours of genuine fun out of a game then in my books that's usually a success for me as a player too.

@@Lenariet So, anyone can have a blast with anything, lots of people did have a blast with ARK. All i say, is that the game will die a slow death like Valheim, and not be finished like the precedent game from those devs, that's all And for the game itself, i don't like it, all i see is a pokemon skin over ARK. you can have a different opinion of course, but that's how i see it

I burst out laughing at the end of the announcement xD It just sounds like a child throwing a tantrum and making stuff up to deny everything lol "Well on the black market we sold a lot of games! Plus the president bought a copy and loved it, I even was given an award!"

Man, this whole story just gets funnier with every new headline that comes out. I've gone back and watched various reviews/post-mortems about the game whenever I need a laugh, and today the list of punchlines has gotten a little bit longer.

Thank god for content creators always keeping us informed! I would buy so many games if I didn't watch videos informing me to be cautious.

Gamers are really a clueless bunch. The studio sold 200k copies, almost half got refunded. That leaves us with around 100k copies sold, 40 dollars a pop, that’s still a 4 million dollar payout. Not half bad for what it seems like 1 week of coding total

Valve doesn't seem to cash out immediately. Been hearing they hold it all for 1-2 months. Fntastic shut down like a week after launch. So I would assume Fntastic saw next to nothing of that money.

@@Lenariet maybe you’re right and Valve will issue a refund even for the accounts that didn’t ask for it. Or maybe they like their cut of that money and the studio will therefore be payed. We’ll see I suppose

He almost certainly signed a NDA, which is standard practice in the industry. Which would me he couldn't legally say anything negative about it, if he's allowed to talk about it at all. And since there's no way to say anything positive about it all he can do is be quiet on the subject

100% with you on this NDA thing, just a little sad to see Yongyea not cover a topic that is really irksome and is just such a massively bad practice, when i find out and learn so much about the industry on his channel.

@mautbaazigar8844 I completely agree. I'd love to hear his take on it personally. However, it's just not possible, so we all have to be content with that. I'd kill for the American government to stop bitching about worthless things, actually start funding things properly, actually govern, and start taking on some of corporate excesses. Like, say, overused and overly broad NDAs, for example

They keep deleting and reposting this statement because twitter users keep putting community notes under it about how the game is a scam. They eventually said fuck it and reworked their entire website so that it is just that statement

I happened to stumble on Dr. Disrespect's stream. He didn't say it was good. He said he was going to hold off comple judgement till it was completed. As he said it was clearly not a finished game.

Always easier blaming anyone and anything but themselves.

It’s the false advertisement that gave it away. They were not promoting it as an indie title.

They had a community note attach to their tweet and they repost it to remove it but they got the note seconds later XD.

So yeah, the modified statement you mention at the end was ALSO deleted, they deleted everything posted after Dec 13.

I still remember a Fntastics bosses quote that I found in the iXBT video. They usually told to devs, that the game "doesn't look triple-A-ish enough" :D

Well its true, if not for content creators the message of it being a scam would not have spread so quickly and they wouldve been able to fleece more victims.

Imagine running a shady and terrible scam and tricking people only to blame them for being tricked when you actively scammed them on purpose

Have they deleted this post? Can't find it on X. They had the gall to try, but then copped out as per usual? Lock em up at this rate

i just love and i mean love how me have the duality of man here on one corner we have the day before one of the most wishlisted games on steam only to come out and be the most obvious scam ever with the dev team shutting down 4 days after launch and the servers shutting down within 2 months, then we have Palworld also in the top 10 of most wishlisted games on steam only for it to come out and be better than what people thought and has already crossed the 8 million sales threshold within a week.
