As someone who didn’t start growing a beard until I was in my 30s I can safely say that a lot of beards do look crappy in the first few weeks. You might think “at this pace there’s no way it’ll ever look fuller.” But beards are weird. You wake up one morning and sudden it’s like *poof* and it looks decent and then as time goes on it only gets better.

@@thanosetsitty1896 yes. The first few weeks my “beard” looks patchy and pathetic. After 6 months people call me “mountain man” It’s hard to be patient in the beginning but it’s like it speeds up or something around month 2. I do a monthly photo of myself for Facebook to document my hair growth (I shaved my head and have been growing it out for almost 2 years) and I can also see my beard growth in the pictures and it’s amazing the difference from one month to the next. Way more noticeable than my head hair growth.

Yes I agree I hit the 90 day mark , woke up and was like poof dam that's cool , my wife likes me better with the beard than without now but after I got it trimmed lol. It was ruff till it was trimmed.
Mike, you don’t need luck just the time. Been watching Mike for years, excited to see his progress. Took me till I turned 40 to give it enough time for my beard, now I’ll never go back. You’ve got more initial coverage than me, given time… you’ll have way more than me. Keep on growing.
He’s got a decent stache and chin/soul patch. He could pull off the tony stark for sure.
This channel has encouraged me to grow a beard for longer times. i don't have the hair bellow bottom lip but i grew it out a inch or so and it didn't look bad. now to go longer and let if fill in best.
I’m almost 27 now, my facial hair has never grown well. It’s my first time properly trying to grow and maintain a beard, another month or two and I should be somewhere closer to where I want my beard to be. Thanks for the videos and encouragement!
Awesome video and great way to encourage a man on his beard journey and even further on his journey to self confidence. My mantra and advice to this gentleman: let it grow and own it.
Hey mike. Cool to see you here. I’m a subscriber of yours for the past 4 years or so. Grow that beard
Go for it Mike!! You won't regret it!! LET IT GROW!!
Great idea guys! We need more of those. 👍🏻
Good luck, mike! Been a fan of your channel for years! Awesome video greg!
Mike and Greg both seem like awesome people. Big fan of LLOD, Jeremy, best damn edc and beard brand crew. That KZread meet-up was probably a ton of fun
Mike; don’t give up on growing it out for awhile. You definitely have potential of of it looking just fine. My facial hair was a late bloomer like Greg. I didnt grow mine out til 60 years old.
I was excited to see this collaboration! I've been following LLOD for years. Go for it Mike! Give it a try and post a follow up!
Love the videos Greg. Exploring new territory, can't wait to see this guy's progress!

Me too
Ah patchy beard , finally i can relate :D
I've been following this guy's channel for quite awhile. Crazy seeing him on Greg's page
Mike - I watch ur channel and I’m glad ur giving it a try! 💪👍
he's very humble about his beard, and he did not get to know his potential. well, one week he got this, i would love to see his beard after 90 days or even after 6 month, i bet he can get nice looking beard, also his mustache is stronger than mine, and i'm rocking my full beard which i'm proud of. his mustache is gonna cover most of his patches !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! can't wait.
I will agree with Greg, I am 22 and have been growing for 8 weeks now and Ive got compliments on my beard a lot this week, and I even have a patch! I’m going for 90 days, and I would always shave it after a couple weeks cuz I thought I had a bad beard. Just grow it brotha
I love this I follow him on his van camper life ...thatcis also something to watch he is a great guy good content
omg he looks really young, i was shocked when he said he's 37 !!!!
His facial hair pattern is very similar to mine. I have had a beard now for 5-6 + years. It’s done fairly well and I can’t imagine not having one these days. I have started to really try and take care of it and moisturize, oil, etc as I want to try and get a bit more length. You can do it, just gotta get through the few months of awkward growth.
I follow Mike on LLOD and also follow beard brand. Great to see Mike on here and grow it out dude! I started my yeard journey on 11/17/23. Yeah I know, WhT shave in November. Well I got a fresh haircut so that was the time!
I was once advised to wait for two years, as each hair follicle has a life-cycle. I’ve found as the hair grows, is trimmed, falls out and regrows, it’s much fuller later on than it ever was on the first grow.
32 and finally started growing my beard a month ago for a 2nd time in my life. 1st time was a few years back but it was extremely patchy even after 4 months of growth. I been using minoxidil for about 14 months now and about 80% of my patches are gone and my one month beards alrdy looks better by far thn the one I had in the past
Looking forward to the follow up.
I am basically Mike. Trying to grow it out for 8 weeks. I am also 1 week in.
Good luck bro!
I never knew I would see you both together.
I like your videos! I have long hair and a full beard and i love it!👍
Mike, I recommend going to13 weeks without touching anything but the cheekline and neckline. I have similar coverage to you, however mine grows really really slowly and is more blonde. You have the potential for an epic beard. I know with the help of Greg and Beardbrand Alliance you will be bearded before you know it and be wondering how you ever doubted your beard's potential. Happy growing.
Mikes channel LLOD is one of my faves!
Please show us his beard ! I still have that beard dismorphia concept in my head. Show me the light ! ❤
A little over a month in and feeling nice and scraggly, haha. Still letting it grow though!

Even if the beard doesn't grow, you could definitely grow a good mustache. I've done the same. Btw, love your channel. Been following you for a while. Fellow 2A advocate
Holy shit it’s Mike!
No shave november has taught me a lot about my patches and what happens when you give it time. Go 45 days, shape it up after 25-30
Mike, three yrs ago I came across a vid where Greg was promoting 90 days. Only once before, in my early 30s when, due to chicken pox, I couldn't shave for two weeks (after never having missed a weekday), had I ever seen what my "beard" might potentially be. It looked silly. First, you have more growth on your face in this vid than I could ever grow in a week ... so let's start there. Your hair is also darker. Now, back to me. Three years after watching Greg's video ... I now have a kickass beard. Like Greg, my beard growth is not even and fast (like a Carlos) but after 90 days of NO trimming I had a real f'n beard. I visited a barber who does beards and asked her to "do my beard" and have never looked back. One of my daughters regularly tells me I look 10 yrs older to which I regularly respond "Ten years older, maybe. But definitely 20 years cooler". Grow that Beast for 90 days! Don't be a wuss ... Brother!
That guy for sure can grow a rockin' mustache.
Greg's how I imagine Zeus would look back in the day
These are my fav videos
I'm 40, i haven't been clean shaven for years and years, but I've never grew my beard more than a month, my facial hair is very similar to this dudes, thick on the tash and neck line, but quite thin on the cheeks. In July I decided to grow a Yeard (grow it for a year) it's now November, I trim my mouth and my Shape my neck lines. I've watched tons of videos on beard growth, I never actually thought it would come in, but it is, you just have to give yourself at least 4 months. Winter is the best time to grow it, hopefully come spring, I'll have some decent coverage. Keep it up guys and don't touch it, even when you really want to!

can i see ur picture of beard
I have faith. I have a very similar pattern to him and I’m at my 60 days and I shaped it up last week and yeah, I have a decent low beard that I trimmed to look like Leonidas. This guy should give it a shot.
Greg Berzinsky......the American Alessandro Manfredini ...great beard and hair color.
You've got to calm down and think about the great progress you've already made. Don't put your beard journey on a certain time line... as long as you see improvement, you just note that and move on. Don't dwell negatively on any area you wish would be stronger now because next week or next month it will be stronger.
It took me 2 mins before I realized that the video isn't a split screen lmao
You convinced me, I'll wait the 3 month and go to a barder shop to see what he recommend :)
See you in 90 days, Good luck 😃👍
He can do it I’m rooting for him
I'm 41 have some slight bald patches on the right side of my cheek and neck, it's amazing how everything thickens up after an extra week or two
Trust me you can do it and it's going to be a good one I have blond beard and I didn't think I ever could grow one have similar growth and I'm 37 as well. Like Greg always say give it time and even if it's not going to be a full beard you can have many different styles.✌️

Exactly. I'm 34 and I grew out my beard for the first time ever this year just because of my Halloween costume but I ended up keeping it but it felt like the first 6 weeks was the worst.
I'm 21 and only made it growing my beard for 55 days before shaving it off because I was pressured by my family and also it was growing too low on the chin. I do have an okay mustache so I kept that and went for the beardstache. I went 3mm on the beard and shaped up the soulpatch and also left the mustache natural at 8 weeks.

You are still young , as you age you will get more hair
Hi my friend. After 6 weeks you will be an absolute BEAST!!!!! 🎉
I just hit my 7 week mark for my first beard and I honestly am not hating how it looks. However, there are a couple things I’m definitely not crazy about, which are the middle of my upper lip, or philtrum, and the soul patch area. Both spots have many vellus hairs that have yet to turn terminal, so I’m just waiting on that and for my mustache to get as full as the rest of my beard. More and more pores are growing hair on my stache every day
Looking forward to see how he goes
Hey Mike I'm 58 and never thought I could grow a beard , but I hung in there 90 days and mine was scraggly and uneven , but I found a barber that did beards , and just went in there and I told him I am keeping the beard, just do what you think would look good . Well I let him do his thing and he made it even and trimmed it down so it wasn't scraggly, then did my hair . Thanked him and paid him and went home . My wife went nuts as soon as I came home and told me to keep going to this guy , that I looked better than I do without the beard. So that won her over, because up till then she didn't like it. Don't let people bother you about it either, I heard I had shit on my chin , grease on my face, just ignore them . Tell them it takes a man to even try to grow a beard! IT WAS WELL WORTH IT NOW!
Mike, my beard is like yours. I've been growing mine for about 6 months, and the patchiness has been covered. It's still thin on my low cheek line, but I figure with more time, it'll get better. I never grew it out more than a month or two before because I didn't think it looked good. Give it time.
I think just having a decent moustache on him would work the rest is pretty patchy
Was there ever a follow up to this?
Good luck, Mike, you’ve got this! 💪 I’m 27 and this Saturday will be 120 days on my first beard journey!

I too can get a fairly good stache but patchy af beard. For my Halloween costume I shaved and decided to test out at least 30 days to see what could happen. So far it's okay, but definitely hoping more changes come in.

Give it 3 months! once my cheek hair gets long enough it looks full!
Subscribed only for a follow up with this guy. He has facial hair, and age in common lol. Give us an update on this gentleman please
😊 Greg always the positive guy 👍
He can definitely do a Leo DiCaprio beard with a disconnected mustache that I think would look great! Maybe add some handlebars too.
Ok, you convince me to try and grow out my beard for 90 days. Let's see how it goes.
Mine is extremely patchy and it took me fighting through 4 months, to see it fill in. By 6 months, it was full beard, so you have to fight through not so good looking beard, but keep going, it will get full. Also there are little tiny hairs, that start thickening during later months.
I’m about the same as him, same thoughts on my beard, I’m gonna see if I try it too…
Aye you guys in Austin let’s grab a drink.
Mike is very realistic and he looks good without the beard. He could just rock stubble and it's good enough for him. A thin beard looks like shit, no matter how you look at it. Just embrace what you have or don't have.
I had a very nice beard as of last week....And then I decided to trim under my nose and ACCIDENTIALLY set my trimmer to the lowest setting rather than the highest setting and carved it short, right down to the skin. Oh the shock! So I trimmed off the whole beard to a #2 and my mustache is prob a #1, and I'm now having to start all over again. My coverage was similar to Gregs and Ive had a beard for 25 years.
I’ve been growing mine for the first time for just over 60 days, but I still feel like there’s just not that much potential there. I’ll keep going to at least 90 days, but not really holding my breath with this current pace.
As you get older, it grows in better.
His 1 week growth is still better than my 2 years growth. I have lost hope. Nothing is gonna work for me
“Beard dysmorphia” 😂
Is there an update to this, or one coming?
Will we get this follow up soon?
well..i listened to you..now on 40th day..all i can say is it's getting interesting.
Yo Greg that shirt look nice tho, where'd you get it?
So where is this guy?
Beardbrand where did you get that overshirt from?
He says he can’t grow a beard but literally his full face is growing hair. You can tel this guy can grow a pretty good looking beard.
Mike trust me I will say that if You truly will take Greg’s advice and absolutely let your Beard continue to grow, don’t get disappointed or discouraged as You will indeed grow a very nice Beard between the 60-90 Day goal. I wore a 5’O’clock shadow for Years until I decided from my former Master Barber who She encouraged me to grow my Beard which I’m now 3 Beards total 5 Years later and I will tell You it’s One of my decisions that I ever made…Mike You will be amazed by this beautiful transformation!!!
Fact I'm going to do it
Is it update time yet???
Bro, help me. I shave nearly everyday simply from a little time in the military. My dad grew a “beard” just before his death and said we can’t grow beards due to our “Indian blood”. I want to have a beard. Could you please help me?
Is there a follow up for this video?
Ive been trying a new strategy and i want a professional's opinion on it : i have a patchy beard so i shave it with a machine setting the length to abt 1.5 cm so that any hair longer then that gets shaved and any hair shorter keeps growing
Actually I think this 1-2 week look really works for him
Be thankful you have your hair (nice hairline) for your age ! And you can grow a goatie! Many males wish they ould have that head set!
I am thinking of growing my beard when I turn 30 I’m 22 now and my beard grows very very quickly like I shave it and three days it starts to grow but I’m worried that my beard will be patchy and that’s the most im afraid off
Mike could rock an awesome Van Dyke!
I been struggling to grow something. I am trying to be patient with it. At this point I think It going to take 6 or more years to grow a beard.
he's got great neck coverage which is going to add a very nice dense support to the beard, this will make up for any more challenged areas. I'd say let the neck go and get it as dense as possible before a trim, just my opinion. I think with enough time this could be a great look for him but he would have to be willing to be the time in :)! Cheers and good luck!

Also I'd like to add Greg's beard is a master piece! you're def a beard legend Greg!
Where is part 2?
Any updates?
Please tell Santa Clause he needs to stick to the toys.
As a senior in high school I never had to shave. No hair, after my service in the military I tried to grow a beard at 23. More of a chin strap and was hideous. I let that thing grow for 6 months and it was disgusting. Chin was dense, and spot on each cheek. Here I am at 30 now and just noticed after a few days not shaving that I have much more hair than I did those years ago. So here I am once again. Letting it grow to see what happens.
i'm 44 yo, i have a patchy beard on my Cheeks... i love beard, i have tried to grow a beard, but my beard on my cheeks... i don't like it or i can't find a cut that fit on my face... i hope to find a barber who can realy tell me
My cheeks can’t grow hair and it’s been depressing for me to handle during this golden age of beards. I’m 40 btw..
I always had a goatee through my 20s and my early '30s because I couldn't grow a full beard. Honestly, I thought it wasn't going to be able to have one and actually never thought too much about it. As I got into my later 30's and early 40's, my Beard literally just sprung out of nowhere and now it's completely full and thick 🧔👍 Don't give up on the Beard... just might surprise yourself?
