Missed Paxton Lynch from the Broncos. 26th pick in the 2016 draft. Refused to study film and learn the playbook. Started 4 games in 3 years. Was the 3rd string by his 3rd year behind Case Keenum and Chad Kelly. He got released later that year when the Broncos got Kevin Hogan. He then got signed and cut by the Seahawks and Steelers in 2019 and 2020. Then he was the 4th string QB for the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Then he was the 8th pick of the 12th round of the USFL by the Michigan Panthers. He signed with the Guardians in the XFL in January 2023, but was benched in Week 1 and waived in April. He’s currently with the Brahmas.

Donovan McNabb had already been taken #2 by the Eagles, after Tim Couch went #1 by the Reformed Browns. Suckili Stiff (er, AkiliSmth) went #3. Of course, his failure was rendered even worse since Mikey Boy Brown vetoed the trade offer with Mike Ditka when Ditka offered his entire set of draft picks as well as the next year's 1st round pick to trade up for Ricky Williams.

Maybe JaMarcus Russell wasn’t in the best situation and had an incredible amount of pressure and expectations, but they also gave him blank tapes when they suspected he wasn’t watching film and he subsequently told the coaches he’d “watched the blitz packages.” Now, I know these are young guys with a lot of pressure suddenly put on them, but I’d put dedication and work ethic like that more in the category of bust than guys who gave it their all and just couldn’t cut it.
