PAT CLEVELAND You are a Legend. Modeling was artistic, adventurous, creative in those days and a collaboration between model, designers and you were truly friends with people in the fashion world. You are a trailblazer. I remember grabbing Ebony Magazine just to see photos of you in the runway show looking like a dream. Now so many of the models are taught to not smile, not to have personality and they don't float when they walk.

First of all, I agree with the other 3 comments BRAVO and secondly, this woman is a living breathing lovely work of art and I could listen to her talk all day and thirdly I loved how she said put the designer first it is about them not her, just Brillant, a great love story.

If you didn't catch it, Pat just told you what is terribly wrong with Fashion and modeling at present. The fact she'd be concerned about embodying the designer, representing the vision, actually feeling the spirit of the clothes....all what is lacking today. Some of that is due to supermodel worship. Some of that is due to compacting time as she mentioned. A lot of it is due to lack of vision and real appreciation.

Pat is a great raconteur. Funny as a child I would always see her in fashion magazines. she was a staple model in ebony magazine fashion section, yet I am just til recently hearing her speak, hearing her voice; she as interesting a person as she is a model. Now it makes sense, you would have to be this interesting a person to be so innovating as a model.

Yes, the clothes make you DO things. This clothing will tell you what to do, how to move. It's the most remarkable experience, much different than what people assume it's about and Pat Cleveland was the very best at it.

I love Elegant & Unique Glamour I can listen to the Legend Pat Cleveland stories all day long. I was a little girl in the 1970s whom always loved Glamour. If only there were a Time Machine so I could revisited the 1970s again this time in my 20s to enjoy seeing the Models and their Runway Shows. I am in the wrong Century and I crave the Glamour Days of the 20th Century.

Pat Cleveland is the best model ever--and THE best storyteller--but Mr. Knight doesn't seem to understand (or should have made it clearer) that the Versailles show was a benefit to repair the palace. The show has become legendary for the "battle" but that wasn't the original idea.

Didn’t Kay Thompson also write the Eloise at the Plaza books? Come to think of it l, I've actually heard that the character Eloise was based on Liza Minnelli.

  • @TheKazadoodle

Yes, she was also an actor and Eloise was a character that Kay Thompson created, she was not based on Liza. Kay used to suddenly start the whole "I'm Eloise and I'm six years old and I live at the Plaza".

Kay Thompson?! I only knew her as an actor in “Funny Face” with Fred Astaire and Audrey Hepburn. She stole the show. I had no idea of her immense talent until I saw these comments and checked her IMDB page. What an amazing and fascinating person! I wish someone would do a movie about her life.
