Hello Saints! My name is Jeff McCullough and I'm a Christian Pastor.
This channel is devoted to fighting criticism with curiosity as I invite dialogue between mainstream Christians and Latter-day Saints. Are Mormons Christians? Too bad you guys didnt make it to welfare square. Its impressive! The way the Church Welfare program blesses the world is beyond impressive. An interesting point is the mechanical plumbing of the factory. The church wanted it to be constructed in the best way possible. Therefore, they called upon those of the Jewish Faith to come and create the process, thereby using "The Kosher Process" throughout the building. Not only done right and beautifully, but it also meets the standard that if any in the Jewish Faith need assistance, we can provide that aid!

@@Jozeemoss Isn’t it logical that God would be the being that promoted the most good works? Would faith in the maximally great God call for the most virtue ethics? Where does Jesus Christ tell anyone to avoid those that call them to good works or ordinances? Didn’t the apostles in the book of Acts perform good works, have witnessed callings, perform ordinances like laying on hands to grant the Holy Ghost, and receive continuing revelation even after Jesus had left bodily from the Earth? Mainstream Christianity cuts out much of what it means to be a disciple of Christ as given in the New Testament church. The disciple Stephen followed and was called by apostles and was rejected by the self-righteous religious leaders for declaring he saw “and Jesus standing on the right hand of God, 56 And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.” Stephen is a full example of a disciple of Christ and was persecuted for exactly what mainstream Christians persecute the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for today.

@HelloSaints, You may also be interested in the fact that Utah has many similarities to the nation of Israel. We have a dead sea in the Great Salt Lake, a Sea of Galilee in Utah Lake, a Jordan River that connects the two larger bodies of water, and the only other place other than Israel that has a mountain range that runs east and west rather than north and south. Utah means the "Top of the Mountains" in the Ute native language as referenced in Isaiah.
Fun video! I keep waiting for Pastor Jeff's trip through the Humanitarian Center & Welfare Square. It's where the rubber hits the road! Honesty its just an art installment rather than of any church meaning. The man who created it loved making sculptures out of stone and was inspired by scriptures, that's all it is. If people understood that he was an early version of abstract art installations that you see in modern museums, it would feel more at place rather than weird.

I appreciate your series! I watched your comments when stitching the young evangelical lady and her feelings toward the church. I had no idea feelings could be so negative. I was raised in the Catholic church, 12 years in Catholic school. I was baptized into this church at 39. I never paid the least bit of attention to others' ideas about my beliefs. We are a universal church, studying similar talks by our prophets each week in addition to scripture regardless of the ward we are in. Every four years, we study all scriptures available to us. Last year was the Old Testament. This year, the New Testament. So we do not focus solely on the Book of Mormon. I was disappointed that the young women wasn't able to discover that at the few sacrament meetings she attended. She really would be better served for an in-depth discussion by reaching out to BYU and the gospel scholars there. They are well versed in all available scripture.

We used to live in the neighborhood of Gilgal Gardens and I would walk with my toddlers over there to climb on the statues. 🤣
Best video yet! All because of the JS Sphinx 🤣
All the historical sites are important to me. I'm a descendant of the brave pioneers. Two of my ancestors served as bodyguards for the Prophet Joseph. Another one of my ancestors served as a missionary to the Lamanites they called him Peeup. The name that I adopted for my KZread Channel.
There is a seed vault but it is not owned or managed by the church, neither is it in Utah. It is on Svalbard Norway. The Granite Mountain Records vault hold historical and church records as well as genealogy records for as much f the world as they can.
Awesome tour of Salt Lake I hope to make it there
Welfare Square and the church's humanitarian outreach would be a fun video for you to breakdown and explore! You also could have gone inside Heritage Village at This Is The Place - its very fun to see all the old buildings and museums. There is also the Church History Museum in downtown SLC just outside temple square. And a few other small tours and museums. If you don't mind driving around outside salt lake county there are many heritage sites to visit all over the state. Almost every city has a little museum tying back to pioneer history.
I lived in the Salt Lake Valley for 17 years and never knew or even have seen these gardens.
I hope during your discussion at This Is The Place SP you brought up the unique state holiday on July 24. And I hope when you were at the Beehive House Jeff got to try some horehound candy (do they still sell that?)
Jeff, great video. I have followed you for a long time and appreciate what you are doing. I went to Iowa on my mission and I talked to a lot of Ministers. Some were respectful, but the majority were very brash and rude. I appreciate your approach. I am not sure if you missed it or with the renovation of the temple if they have removed the statues. The are two statues that are very important to me and the membership of the Church as to what they represent. I hope they were there, and you were able to see them. They are statues of Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdry receiving the Aaronic Priesthood from John the Baptist and the other of Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery receiving the Melchizedek Priesthood from Peter, James and John. I would just like to take one of them and ask this simple question. Did Peter, James and John appear to Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery and restore the Priesthood? If they did, then we have something that no other Church in the world can proclaim. If they didn't then we have a church with a lot of false beliefs. Christ told his Apostles that the truth would make us free. The Holy Ghost is the bearer of all truth. I have looked at these statues and have asked myself if this really happened. I have approached Heavenly Father in sincere and have asked this question. I have felt the Holy Ghost confirm to me that it is true. I have felt the Priesthood power as I have given Priesthood blessings and I have seen miracles in my life many times. I consider it one of my most precious blessing and treasures in my life. Thanks for sharing.
While I agree that there are better things to see than the sphinx to get a feel for our culture, I'm not bothered; it injects a little fun into the video. And I'm sure he'll do more, so no need to worry about stuff he hasn't visited yet.
Having never been to Utah I like seeing the sights sites in SLC. Very beautiful place the valley and the city.
You have to do a video where you explore the East and West visitor centers near the temple. If you wanna see old Testament and LDS You have to explore these 2 buildings. And the church history museum.
I would recommend the Bingham Copper Mine, that for a long time was the largest open pit mine in the world, and one of only two man made structures visible from space. I also recommend the Cathedral Of The Madeline, a great example of Gothic architecture. The Tabernacle that you visited, in case they didn't tell you, has no nails in it, it is held together by wooden dowels and leather straps.

I mean sure it took a couple hundred years before the man made doctrine of the Trinity reached its current form, after much debate and some brawling, and many changes. And there are still debates as to what it actually means, the language being so vague. But one thing is for certain, the Bible straight contradicts it. And the Trinity was given by the same church that removed the second Commandment, the one forbidding idols, and split the tenth Commandment to hide it.

@@Jozeemoss And Joseph Smith Jr. is batting a thousand. Though villains and thieves intentionally misinterpret to defraud. The same tactics have been used on Bible prophets as well. Just Google "false prophets of the Bible" and you'll see the blade cuts both ways.
I grew up around Salt Lake City. I had not heard of the explosion before that's great city history for SLC. Also the Gilgal Sculpture Garden is truly eccentric art.
Lol! I never knew about the Joseph Smith sphinx! Lol!
Thank you showing the respect to these sites... and I hope you had an opportunity to see the Mormon battalion memorial at the capital.

This completely blind, lost, and deceived, fake christian has only showed respect to this Godless false manmade cult because he is totally blind, lost, and deceived, same as all the mormons. Repent!
My dad took me to gilgal gardens one time when we were driving by and I didn’t know about it, and so when he randomly parked outside those houses by the path in there I was confused and he said it was this garden that used to be more popular but had kind of been forgotten about. When I went in there I was immediately weirded out.

@@Jozeemoss yes but how does that relate to gilgal gardens?
Is the Bentonville trip still on? If so, when can I see you down here?
There are two places on earth where a fresh water lake feeds into an inland sea several times saltier than the ocean with no outlet, the sea of Galilee, river Jordan, great salt sea, or dead sea, and Lake Utah, river Jordan, great Salt Lake. Even though the city was designed in the mid 1800s the streets are wide enough to accomidate modern two way traffic. Easy to find your way around, main street crosess center street, and 100 east, 100 west, 100 north 100 south 200 east west north south etc.

Family History Museum! Visitors Center!
Utah is so beautiful and the cities too!
Woah ..lol never herd the art piece of Joseph Smith as a sphinx. That's interesting and quite hilarious. Maybe when i go to utah we will stop by, i wonder if my husband family knows about this. They live 20 min from SLC
Gilgal garden? Lifelong LDS here, and NEVER heard or seen it and yeah….bizarre!
As I understand it, Gilgal was created by one man who owned an empty plot next to his house. Over time he created some weird stuff to put in the garden and some stuff that's not quite as weird. For years it was not kept up but a group has been cleaning it up and adding some nice features like the trees and walkway from the street. The LDS church had nothing to do with it's creation. I'm surprised David even took you to that weird little spot in Salt Lake City as it's not connected with the Church and their are so many better choices. I see several listed below and I noticed in the video that David drove past some of those. I'm glad you were able to walk around temple square.
Omg SO MANY MORE!!!
@HelloSaints would love to know if there is something that exists in the evangelical world that you all find weird.
The assembly hall was my mom's stake center back in the 50s
It’s so scary how much you look like my Bishop in Glasgow Scotland you could be brothers 🏴🙏🏻
Next time come to the FamilySearch Library! On a Thursday!🎉
Latter Day Saint my whole life… never ever even heard of Gilgath (sp?) gardens or whatever lol. The Josephix was wild
I’ve lived in Utah my entire life and didn’t know most of these things.
This was a fun video to watch for my own education. Some interesting places and information. This is the Place - Brigham Young said "This is the right place, drive on." He had seen it in vision and recognized it. I believe this was said from the wagon when he first viewed the valley. There were some people who felt this wasn't the right place, so Brigham Young sent out scouts to travel quite a distance (hundreds of miles) in each direction so that they could report back that yes, this was where they needed to be. The Joseph Smith sphinx was... interesting. :D
This was a fun video
Hey Jeff I live in Kansas. Once we here more about the Wichita Temple. Do you think it would be possible for us to meet up to attend the ground drinking ceremony and the dedication ceremony.
Have you visited the Humanitarian Center or Welfare Square? Id love to see a video on that….
Really appreciate your work building bridges!
Man I was gonna watch the Protestant going to a church video today.. from Melissa Dougherty, but I get it’s quite a lot of Protestant on Protestant debate.. but I still support everything you do JEFF!
I've lived in Utah for most of my life, and I have never heard of Gilgal gardens. This is the very first time being introduced to the place. This is not a sacred place to Latter Day Saints!
