At 63 I learned it as a babe in Jesus Christ .

My Mom passed last January 2014 and my brother 9 months later. I sang this song all the way to NJ from NC. It brought me thru. I sang this song over and over crying all the way. I did not care who saw me crying in fact I started to sing to the cars that were passing me by. Great Song and the pastor sings it very well. Thank You Pastor.

I grew up in a church listening to all of these old hymns, and they are embedded in my soul. I truly believe they made us better people....I can't explain it, but there's just a different feeling when I listen to them, rather than the music that they play today.

My grandmother loved this song. She'd sing it every chance she got. This was before praise and worship teams. The congregation would sang whatever might be on their hearts. Grandmother would kick it off and then other's would jump in and sang on it too. They could sang on just the chorus for a good 10+ minutes. Didn't get it back then, but I find myself doing that myself nowadays.

You don't hear this kind of singing in these modern mega churches. This remind me of first attending church in the 80's. That's when church was church, all of the old heads who long past use to sing this. Good job pastor Smith. Hopefully one day I will be able to visit your church.
