Oh man! I grew up in a traditional baptist church and I still long to hear these hymnals even today.

😭 I love this hymn! Crazy thing is as a child I didn’t like hymns bc I thought they were boring. Now as an adult, I totally understand why the old saints would sing this hymn and others like it. Sometimes you just need an old school hymn to help you through. I’ve been through some tough storms in my life battling sickle cell anemia. Now these are the words that I stand on. Lord, help my unbelief and heal my body! Lord, do not pass me by! Lord, hear my humble cry! Lord, I thank you for complete and total healing in Jesus name! 🙌🏾🙌🏾

In times of trouble we call upon our Saviour.

My sisters and I sang this at our mother's bedside as she was crossing over. We were touching her, holding her hands, stroking her arm, wiping her face. We knew every verse of the song because mother raised us in the church. We must all do what we can to encourage young parents to take their children to church regularly, raise them in the church. Life isn't easy. You will need what you get from God's church to make it through the storms of life.

This song moves me every time I hear it . Let me lay some facts on you about this hymn. Francis J. Crosby wrote the lyrics to this hymn in 1868. It wasn't set to music until 1870 by William H. Doane. According to history Miss. Crosby would go on to write between 5,500 to 9,000 hymns. She was born in 1820 and at the age of 6 weeks old she was declared legally blind. Mom was in the hospital many times because of cancer. I came upon this video. I'd play it over and over in the waiting room. It brought such comfort. Hugs and appreciation.

Every time I hear this beautiful hymn it takes me back to the moment when the Lord saved that poor wretched sinner that I was. He heard my humble cry. Through the tears and trembling, He heard my cry and placed peace on my heart like I never knew before. Praise and glory to Christ, the One who redeems lost sinners to Himself!!

I can listen to this song all day

First time I heard this song when I was 4 years old, listening to my grandma singing for me before we sleep ( I sleep with my grandma) and that was the first time I get to know Jesus and I am very gratefull, l am 48 years old now, listening to this song always brings memory and tears to my eyes

I’m 28. I grew up with my grand parents and their siblings singing this song and other hymns like this around the piano every time our family gathered. All of them have passed on now but I still wake up a lot of mornings lately wanting to hear these songs not just from memory. I appreciate these videos so much as I continue to remember my elders who taught me the foundation of my faith that continues to grow now. Thank you.
