You are the first who understand that the three figures are symbol for past, present and future.

Yes. I think they are called Norns in Germanic mythology but I could be wrong?

Oh gosh I thought by now I could watch this & not be just destroyed. This is the song I attribute with my friend's passing, 9 months ago now - which is wild. I knew she was really sick & we were just sitting on the couch. We were just hugging & I was singing this softly to her & we just had the biggest hug with the sun coming in warming her damaged bones. It was the perfect moment & I knew it at the time. 2 weeks later she passed. I miss her so much, 8 years ago we were at a festival. The imagery with the women giving birth being like an hourglass to me kinda makes me think that it's that point in time where everything is so precarious. Life is beginning but could also end.

Maybe next video for you should be "Deutschland" (means Germany). A wild ride though german history ! But the live performances are also incredible. For example "Rammlied" (Rammleed) at Madison Square Garden. There you can learn how to pronounce Rammstein (hihihi)...

Try this: Rammstein = RUM-SHTINE "Zeit" (time) = TSITE (like at the beginning of "tsunami")

Concerning to the three sinister figures Rammstein called them time-keeper but surely used this picture as reminiscence to the old pre-christian Germanic/Nordic myth model. In the old Norse Volöspa, three immortal female figures, the Norns (Old Norse - nornir, the whisperers) are listed. The Norns once sat at the source of the river Urd at the root of the world ash "Yagdrasil" and weave the destined thread for gods and humans. Their names are: 1. Urd: Norn of the past and eponym to the river Urd. Her name means something like "fate" or "become". She's an old woman who constantly looks over her shoulder at bygone era. 2. Verdandi: Norn of the present. Her name means something like "present" or "to be". She has the shape of a young woman whose gaze is always directed forward. 3. Skuld: Norn of the future. Her name means something like "future" or "becoming". Unlike "Urd" and "Verdandi", she is seen as an unpredictable force who had no love for humans and gods and has a very hot temper. She wears a veil and holds an unopened book or parchment in each hand. Her gaze is always directed in the opposite direction of "Urd's" gaze. The norns weave the threads of destiny of all men and even for the nordic gods. Once the thread is cut at the end of life, the man dies.

What gets me the most about the reaction videos to this very song is the horrified look on the faces of the female KZreadrs when the baby is pushed back into the womb. Birth, an absolutely ordinary process for many thousands of years. Well, the mother herself doesn't get to see it from this perspective unless she gives birth in front of a mirror. The men usually look at this scene very relaxed without much emotion. Of course, I give to consider that men have already seen exactly this area of the female body thousands of times...live, in magazines, on video, CD, Bluray or Internet.

My interpretation and thought was time goes on like a continuous cycle and those rare occasions when we are truly happy of course we want time to stop. The showing of the sand and hourglass ⌛ time keeps going and them showing the scenes reversing to me meant a desire to go back in time either to the moment of birth and start our lives over or to before we're even born saying no i don't even want to be born i want to go back before i was even conscious of my own existence and mortality. Them being blindfolded to me was no one knows whats going to happen in the future we don't know what kind of lives these babies are going to have.

There is a version of this video on youtube that has the entire video go backwards. I watched that particular version muted while at the same TIME listening to the sound of the original music video. Guess what,... it totally works. They managed to put the images together in a way that the music fits either way.

Another thing that came to my mind is the babies being put back in to the mother to be born again on earth and also coming back in a sense they died on earth and are now being born in the other world and their birth or rebirth on earth is them already starting to die because as soon as your born your dying..your dying to live or as Rammstein put it "Wir sterben weiter bis wir leben" "We keep dying until we live" because in a sense what we perceive as dying is us actually being born again into the other world that's why the girl in the end seems happy when she dies because she knows that her death here means her being born over there..if that makes any Sense? This is art at its finest 🥰

What videos to watch next from Rammstein? I have a few suggestions. If you want to see more of their (incredible) live performances I would suggest (in this sequence) Rammlied (live from Madison Square Garden) Du hast (live from Paris) Engel (live from Madison Square Garden) Links 2 3 4 (live from Madison Square Garden) Ich will (live from Hurricane Festival 2016) Amazing official videos Sonne (Sun) heavy, screwed up fairy-tale Links 2 3 4 (left) partly heavy march Ich will (I want) heavy, simple, way to celebrity Spring! (Jump!) (fan-made animated version with english subtitles) slow, partly heavy, very dark sarcasm! Radio (Radio) catchy song (with serious background) Keine Lust (not in the mood) heavy, funny, slidely sad Newest official videos from their last album "Zeit" in sequence of the tracks on the album: Zick Zack (Snip Snap) catchy song, sarcastic, funny Angst (Fear) very Rammstein, scary, credits at the end are helpful to understand the message Dicke Titten (Big Boobs) heavy (most of the time), catchy, funny, credits are funny too (my view) Adieu (Goodbye) dark, sometimes heavy, emotional I wish you to enjoy your Rammstein journey.

I think it's sad that in our culture images of childbirth are seen as shocking in a way that images of graphic violence aren't, when the former is so much more life-affirming, but yes, I agree. A beautiful song, though I'm old-school enough to think of Tangerine Dream when I see the name "Zeit". Oh, and in German ei is pronounced "eye", while ie is "ee". Just use the name of the second letter!

⏳ TIME⌛ Some things should Some things shan't(should not) We see, yet we are blind We cast shadows without light After us, there will be a 'before' Out of youth, necessity is born already We keep dying until we live (We) die living into(the)death We drift towards the end No rest, just striving forward Endlessness is waving at the shore Captured in the river of time Time Please stand still, stand still Time This shall go on forever and always Warm body will be cold soon One cannot conjure the future Allows for no stay Creating and destroying immediately I lie here in your arms Oh, could it just be like this forever But the time knows of no mercy Already, the moment is gone Time It is so beautiful, so beautiful Everyone knows The perfect Moment When our time has come Then it is time to go Stopping when things are at thier best The clocks stand still The moment is so perfect But the time keeps running(out) Moment, would you Please remain I'm not ready yet

Go to the source where they finally started becoming cinematic -> "Ich will" (Official Video) From there on, it will be a roller coaster ride for you. Forget "Du hast" - while it is still an amazing live hymn, it doesn't remotely capture the depth, versatility and art that they bring to the table to this very day.

I want to thank you for being one of the very few male reactor(s) that didn't look shocked or horrified when they show the scenes of the women giving birth. I was already expecting to see a look of disgust or some comment on how they shouldn't show that. Although I was surprised that the lady reacted more negatively than the man.. LoL 😂
