Passover with Mayim

Passover starts tomorrow and there is lots to be done. Here's a video of me preparing to shop with my kids, shopping, and unloading the groceries. It's kind of embarrassing but also hysterical.

Maybe it's how tremendously distracting all that hand waving can be. I have sometimes found my mind wandering away from what she's saying and traveling to how she can flap her hands around and yet hold her train of thought.

U the one sounding racist tho. Pretty sure all religeions are barbaric, but most ppl who follow them nowadays are not following the barbaric parts. Like my family raised me christian and the bible is pro slavery and anti women but most christians u meet nowadays dont think that stuff is ok.

Oh my god. We make lists in the EXACT same way ! My other half keeps teasing me about my endless list making. Then again, my first clue to his ineptitude in all things practical should have been the donut stare he gives me anytime I utter the words "efficiency" and "organization" .... bless him

I agree with you. When I was growing up (in the old days), you categorized items to save time and make it easier for the cashier. This was waaaay before computerization and scanners/bar codes. Everything had to be put in manually. So if you had three bags of the same chips, it was better to place them together. Also for the packer, putting dairy, meats, dry goods, etc together, just made sense (and was a requirement). I've never gotten out of the habit.

I just finished celebrating this very important event and I reflected upon what it means to me. I think that it's very nice that we still have celebrations like this one that our people have been celebrating for millennia (literally) and that it has remained non-commercial all this time. I think that says a lot...

The list by dish and by category is a must. Without one, you don't know how much of what you'll need. Without the other, you'll be in the store for 16 hours. This is absolutely reasonable.

Plan To Eat would totally do the list organizing/generating thing for you! You load recipes into it, and then drag the recipes to the days on a calendar when you want to make them, and then in a "shopping" tab, you set the dates you want to shop for, and it automatically generates and organizes your shopping list for you. You can check the things off that you already have at home - it's been a lifesaver for me! :)

As a divorced Jewish man without children, it is sometimes an obstacle to embrace our religion's customs and traditions but I have good friends and some family who help me to celebrate the traditions. But as Mayim tells us, the tradition is alive everywhere no matter what. G-d is always with us Thank you for posting ! Amazing ! Samuel
