I had her. The only woman I’ve ever truly loved since I was 10 years old. She was my first love. My first kiss. My first best friend. My first everything. And I let her go. Once we were older I really fell down a hard path with drinking. I couldn’t control myself. She stood by me through it all. She was there when I drank so much I ended up in the ER. And she was still willing to stand by my side, even wanted to use her own savings to put me through rehab. At that point I had to walk away. I knew I hadn’t hit my rock bottom yet & I didn’t have it in me to let my drinking ruin her life too. Going through the pain of walking away from her was my real wake up call that I couldn’t live without her. But I wasn’t gonna walk back into her life until I changed. So I got sober for her. It took me almost 3 years. By then she found an amazing guy who truly deserved her. As devastating as it was for me I’m still so happy she found someone who made her feel happy. We are still friends to this day but I’ve never stopped loving her. Been close to 5 years since they got married. I’ve tried and failed relationships. Nothing I do will ever make me stop loving her. So I’ve decided I’m content with being alone for the rest of my life. I can’t enter a relationship knowing any other woman will always come second in my heart. To whoever reads this, don’t ever let her go.

I lost my first girlfriend from stomach cancer in 2003. She was 18.😢😢😢

I remember back in my 4th Grade year of elementary school, I had a teacher named Mr.Barron. He loved this song and always made sure to mention to our class everyday just how much this song was his favorite. He even gave us bonus points for recording the song on the radio and showing him…. I think this was his way of inserting the memory of his favorite song into our heads, so that when we were older, we could come back to this song and truly understand what the lyrics meant; the songs true message. He’s a good man, I didn’t understand back then, but he was looking out for us even in the future . He knew we’d become teens and eventually adults trying to process pain, some of us without parental figures to guide us. Thanks, Mr.Baron

These lyrics are literaly tearing through me right now. It is now that I truly understand what they mean. Never realised how much I actually loved her until I heard of her engagement a couple weeks ago. Broke up in 2016. Never understood whether to wait or to move on. Talked to her around 10 times in all these five years. She'd be depressed and I would be depressed at time. Both of us never confessed that we missed each other. Haven't seen her face all this while. I could never become a good lover. My arrogance and ignorance destroyed me. Wish I had not distanced herself from me. Since, 2016, I had been kindof chill but there was always something about her that I couldn't stop thinking. Always imagined her in all my imaginations of future life. Last month, she texted me and I clarified a little about what went through my mind. She replied "I wished you told all this 5 years ago. My life would've been so different." And, now, I can never forget these lines. I don't know what is waiting for me in life. Somedays, I wish she comebacks somehow and we can stay together forever but then, I realise that true love means letting them free even if it means that it is going to hurt me. Am I right or am I wrong? I don't really know. But I do know now, that I how much I love her and how much empty I am inside, without her by my side.

Love comes slow go so fast. This song will never get old. In this broken world we live in, I find peace here for some reason.

Listening to this song while changing my beds cover makes me feel how mundane and short life is. A few months ago, I was so eager for the summer vacation, and today, I am reminiscing how I spent the remaining days of my coming to an end highschool years. People do come and go, dreams do end, and goals gets fulfilled. Life is a cycle of "hello" and "goodbye". We seem to take things for granted and we do not even bother to see a glimpse at it, so as a result, it gets away on our grasp before we even know. You know, it seems like things are only precious when we know it is coming to an end.

I just hope he listens to this song and realizes he shouldn't have let me go.🖤

I have a story to share about this song Few years ago... I couldn't sleep so my cousin played some songs on her phone [My mom was training because she was a police]. When, I heard this song I immediately fell asleep. The next day, i couldn't remember a thing about the lyrics so I couldn't find the specific song. I soon forgot about it and went on with life [lol] Years later... I developed addiction for nightcore version of songs. One day, I listened to a random playlist I saw on youtube and finally...found it coincidentally, this song popped up and I was struck by nostalgia. I think I would listen to this a few more times than I should expect...

@@adarshsr8015 I hoped to work up the courage to tell her one day, but I was never able to. She had been dating this guy since 2016, and they officially tied the knot this past December. Now there wouldn't be any point in telling her. I'll just have to accept it, be happy for her, and try to move on someday.

i think this is one of the best songs to ever exist.
