Nate and the entirety of fun. absolutely could've been the biggest band of the '10s, they had the momentum and DEFINITELY had the intensely amazing musical prowess. Nate's voice is like a Freddie, instantly recognizable, SO powerful. For now I'll just settle for Some Nights being an excellent, excellent album and look forward to The Format coming back...but I'd love for Jack and Nate and Andrew to get back together one day. Their chemistry has insane results!!

The way he described static prevails and it’s lyrics is probably attributed to Jim’s indirect long lyric writing process that he was surprised about earlier in the interview when Jim said how long it takes him to write lyrics. Jim’s indirect approach without trying to be too specific is what leads to his sometimes seemingly “vague” lyrics that at the same time feel very spot on. It’s like the song sweetness, some of the lines may seem random but it feels correct and accurate to the emotion being conveyed. It’s a great lyrical style. It doesn’t preach how to feel but engulfs you in the emotion subconsciously

OK, wow. This was incredible, thank you for doing this Jim and Nate. A couple of my own take away points - the level of respect you both have for each other is amazing. Nate hit the nail on the head with his assessment of Static Prevails - it’s the whimsical vague “band jam” nature of the record that resonates so well, even if it doesn’t seem as relatable or consumable as other JEW records. It plays through almost like having a dream - not clear and thought provoking. And Nate can say whatever he wants about Interventions, but it’s the same kind of idea. These records will always mean so much more to the listener than who is writing it, especially considering the time period in someone’s life when they discover it. Thanks again guys - please keep doing what you do.

I really liked listening to you guys. I'm a little younger than Jim, and listening to Jimmy Eat World in my late teens/early 20s helped those formative years tremendously. I really wish I could tell them what some of their music has meant to me, especially 23. And The Format's Dog Problems was an album that came out just at the right time in my life. I had been embracing that style of music for awhile before that, but it's like Dog Problems took those tastes, shoved them into a bottle, and shook them up until they just exploded. I trip myself out thinking it's been 14 years since it was released, and it still sounds as timely as ever musically even if it's about a young guy in his 20s getting his heart broken. And Aim & Ignite is awesome, but it does sound quite a lot like The Format 2.0. Maybe that's Nate's problems with it.

I'd really like to see an interview with the band Limbeck. To me they have a fascinating story. They were doing alt-country quite a bit before it started to really blow up. They sort of faded out before it started to get big. They are heavily respected by lots of artists, and their Hi Everything's Great album is one of the low key catchiest things I've ever heard. There may not be a big market for the podcast, but I'd love to hear the ins and outs of their career.
