Parts of Speech in English - Word Classes - English Grammar Lesson
What are the parts of speech in English?
We look at the eight parts of speech in traditional English grammar.
These parts of speech, sometimes called word classes, include:
Nouns, Pronouns, Adjectives, Verbs, Adverbs, Prepositions, Conjunctions, and Interjections.
We give an explanation of how each word class is used and have included example sentences. For some of the parts of speech we also look at sub-classes such as subject pronouns and possessive pronouns, the different types of adverbs such as adverbs of manner, adverbs of frequency, etc.
In the final section, after we give a summary chart, we talk about how some teachers sometimes include a 9th part of speech which can be either Articles or Determiners. Again, we include examples.
This English lesson is ideal to give students a general overview of the different parts of speech in English and what they do.
ENGLISH TEACHER RESOURCE
We have Parts of Speech summary charts that can be used in the English classroom. They are available here:

In Thai language, the structure of noun phrase is "main noun + adj1 + adj2 + ..." and also supports the duplicated words of adjective to emphasize the characteristics of noun phrase, e.g., แอปเปิ้ลสีแดง ๆ บนโต๊ะ => Apple 'red red' on the table (emphasize "Red" => Ruby/Spanish Red color, not Brown-Red color) => A red apple on table. It is so different to English with its pre-modifier and post-modifier.

I am learning English Grammar as a native speaker. I have already spotted an error in the beginning of this video. "Parts of speech tell us how a word is used in a sentence". Correction. "Parts of speech (tells) us how a word is used in a sentence". There are more mistakes but I just wanted to point out the first one.
@WoodwardEnglish
4 жыл бұрын
I am a native speaker too that has been teaching English for over 20 years. While I am not perfect and may make mistakes, what appears on the screen IS correct: Parts of speech TELL us (because we are talking about PARTS .... they.... they tell us). Were I to talk about ONE part of speech, then it would be A part of speech TELLS us... (which is not the case here). Thanks anyway.

@@WoodwardEnglish I don't have any bad intentions, but my understanding is somewhat different. The main category is parts of speech, with 8 subcategories. When we speak of the main category, we speak of it as a whole acting as one in definition, for each subcategory will define itself as you illustrated in the video. If indeed the main category acts as one then I stand in good reason if not then am at fault. Maybe I need to learn more but presently this is my understanding.
Many thanks to wood word English for this helpful video it is very easy to understand for Lerner like me, I have been learning English with you since one year and now I can speak English but not fluently I need to someone for do conversion in English thanks I still with you for lern English
