Zsinj taking over thr CSA in thr Atlas and guide to warfare always struck me as a misreading of the Wraith trilogy where the mentiomed corporate sector worlds were officially neutral and had secret corporate holdings by Zsinj.

A good possible subtopic would be the story of Empire Blues where the early empire subtly pushed the general of a devaronian puppet force into killing a few thousand POWs without ever making it a formal order, then left him out to dry for it.

Ehhh it really did seem to me that the Happans DID get an imperial garrison, and political officers in their fleets at least by original author intent. It also explains how they got "dozens" of ISDs for Isolder's Dudery (okay maybe trying to combine Dowry snd dude was dumb, but it's funny so I am keeping it) while simultaneously staying isolated. All they have to do is send a few mind control gun teams to board the ISDs that are already stationed there.

Isnt the Tion Hegemony still officially a vassal state of the empire

It's in a similar category to the Centrality, maybe a bit less supervised. I'm gonna do a standalone video on them in the near future.

Hutt Space, as always, played the long game, being strong enough politically and economically to not be annexed outright, but not strong enough to varrant Empire's attention. In Stellaris, they definately would've been a tall crime megacorp!

You have to give them credit they predate the republic by a long ass time and managed to remain a mostly intact and distinct entity through about 8 different sith empire and old republic beat downs, the Eternal empires invasion, the clone wars, the galactic Civil war hell even the Vong didnt remove them. Sure they peaked in the early days when they were the defacto galactic super power and a full on empire but God dam if that's not a long and storied history for basically amounts to a space mafia.

FYI, even a massive Star Wars nerd like me can find those novels a little hit-or-miss. CoPL is good, but the Callista trilogy isn't very good. A little-talked about gem I found is the Dark Fleet Crisis Trilogy. It has a pointless Lando side quest and a part with Luke that can drag but actually crisis is so well written.

Operation domino wasn’t a total failure though. Dac was liberated and became a rebel fortress world.

@@JediAcolyte94lol ya quite a few old school imperial officers who served with the republic too became sympathetic to them and defected. Allot of the original rebellion officer Corp came about because of operation domino.

Corey, I love your stuff, you do great work. If anybody knows more about how easy travel into and out of the Hapes cluster is I would like to know. I have no reason to think Hapes could have been a threat to the Empire. But it's possible that if you could only travel in and out of the cluster through a small amount of choke points. That Palpatine may have seen a conquest of the Hapes cluster as possible, but not cost effective. I'm sorry, I don't know a lot about that subject of Star Wars.

That basically is it. A lot of planets, very dense hyperspace routes, probably more secret stuff most of the Empire doesn't know about. There's only two safe routes in and the rest of the cluster is effectively a mystery. It took the Vong a while to penetrate the cluster and even then they didn't do that much damage because they didn't know where most of the planets were.

I always had the impression that the Vulcar Free Trade Zone, before it joined the Pentastar Alignment, was also some kind of Mini-Empire.

This is why I prefer Legends. It was a so much better consistent canon than Disney’s shitty one. It also had so much fantastic world building, something Disney canon severely lacks.

I thought the Bothans played both sides in the GCW up until Endor. At least, that's what some sourcebooks say. Face it, The Lando Calrissian Adventures are shockingly good. It feels weird, but not as cringe as The Crystal Star... small wonder why the Lobot arc for the Black Fleet Crisis trilogy has its fans. I will never understand the Tagges. Sure, they're quite interesting (especially in the Evasive Action webcomics), but their origins from those debatable 1977 Marvel comics makes them irksome in some manner. All that aside, a pity most of these states didn't get a world of hurt after the Rebellion won. Am of the vindictive kind when it comes to fools who collaborated with the enemy.

Courtship of Princess Leia has them just being “Drow but we cant see in the Dark” with men in BDSM gear, but by the time of Dark Journey/End of legends its more of a modern sexism deal. Like, I don’t want to undersell the struggles of women on earth, but I’ll be dead ass: I’ll take 63% pay gap and being afraid to walk alone at night in order to be safe from insane Space Wizards or slave driving megacorps

Honestly the ideal place to live in Star Wars is in Unknown Planet number 7644 that was never "discovered" by the galactic republic, the empire or any space faring, world claiming super state. There is something to be said about the benefits of our real life situation, of not living in fear of a more advanced alien civilization dictating the ultimate fate of our species, as cool as it might be to possibly meet space otter people and stuff.
