PART 7: PICOS Site Tours and Arrival
We take a break from the action / vertigo camera shots and show you around 2 of the 6 places we stayed at during our holiday in the PICOS.
Camping Naranjo de Bulnes near the town of Las Arenas 4 nights:
We chose this site because it was the most convenient location to hike the Cares Gorge. It was around 5 miles to Poncebos where the hike starts. (8 Euro’s each way in a taxi)
The site was split across either side of the road with facilities on both sides. We chose to be near the river under the shade of trees. The facilities were very good and clean; the only negatives were no hot water in the washroom sinks and the mats in the showers were extremely non slip to the point your feet would stick to them! The restaurant was pleasant and good value for money, a must is to try the cider machine, its not expensive and lots of fun!
Camping La Virona near the town of Potes 3 nights
We chose this site because it was within walking distance of the beautiful town of Potes and was within a bus ride of Fuente De where you can catch a cable car up the mountain to some spectacular walks. This site is more family orientated as it had a large pool. Again the facilities were very good and clean.
We would thoroughly recommend both sites for the location, facilities and access to great activities in the PICOS National Park.
Both sites are just over an hour from the Ferry at Santander so you can be straight off the boat into enjoying your holiday without a tiring long drive.

Our Travel Place Thank you.. the first one near to the Cares Gorge.. I personally loved. So peaceful .. in the evening a camper opposite would play his guitar with really mellow tunes. Just fabulous, sat outside listening with a glass of wine in hand. 🍷 Perfect ! 🤩

Absolutely brilliant episode again guys, really enjoyed having a look round the sites, especially the 2nd one, what an amazing site to stay on. I just knew the rain would find you eventually too 🤣🤣 can’t wait for the next one 👍🏻

Great videos, found you by chance when looking for youtube videos about northern Spain. Great information which we'll be using for our trip in June 2020. We have a 6m moho, so know we'll get everywhere you did. Hoping for a mix of adventure and relaxing by some beaches. Thanks

david lilley Thank you so much! Northern Spain has been in the planning for a long time and so plenty of research into places to stop within short distances of the activities and towns were a must. Hi Guys, we met you at the Stratford show when you did a chat. After watching your videos of Picos de europa we have decided to include it in our next trip to Spain. Hi Jan, we either just turned up or gave them a call the day before, it's a few years ago so can't remember exactly. I'd give them a call +34942732021. I can see 4 Parkups very close to Potes so you should be fine to get somewhere if Viorna is full but hopefully you'll be able to book. The key always in Europe is turn up early say 10-11am just as other campers are moving on. Also the bus service is good between Potes and Fuente De so any of the 4 campsites along there could be a possiblity, Cheers...Andy&Michelle 😀
