When I saw this as a little girl I wanted to marry Anthony Andrews, he's so charming and sauve! I was heart broken to learn that he's been happily married since before I was born haha (then again he does have a son that's my age :D)

Notice how the music underlines the plot. When Percy rescues the Countess and her daughter and romance springs up between the daughter Suzanne and Andrew Foulkes, the composer inserts a perfect minuet, heard earlier at Lord Grenville's ball.

So is Maguirette sleeping with both Ian McKellan and the Scarlet Pimpernel? At 0:40 she changes behind that cover thing when McKellan is in the room. The kind of girl who did that back then was definitely not someone who would save herself. In fact, I think they even had a saying: "If she changes behind the dress-fold when you're in the room, she pokes."

@toysruskid06 I'm not really sure I think chewing tobacco took its place but there is a possibility that a specialty tobacco store might carry it. I know that the snuff boxes are considered collectible antiques.

@jimbrown257 she's not necessarily sleeping with both men. if you look closely later, you'll see that she only took off her cape and the outer shell of her dress. she was still technically "dressed." you are right though. Marguerite doeose indeed come across as "easy"
