I love the amused smile that Percy displays for Chauvelin as they approach the island. He never gives anything away. And the comment that Percy makes after Chauvelin mocks Percy's noblesse oblige. "Primitive? I shall take it any day over your new order." Absolutely brilliant

Well, I truly wouldn't expect a Bolshevik to understand anything about honor. Or loyalty for that matter.

I absolutely love that "a matter of loyalty", then seconds later about being transported "I assure you. . . . . I shall be properly dressed". I wish the people in my area of California had that attitude. Some people going shopping in pajamas & slippers. Dreadful. 😩

That we do. But you conveniently forget to mention that going shopping dressed as a member of your true class puts a target on your back.

I haven't seen this movie in 20 years... The violin solo at 2:48, which releases out into the joyous escape theme, makes me cry. I think of the little orphan Louis, who in reality never escaped, he rotted away in prison and died grievously of TB at age 10.

Like I posed the terrible question already- can one really recover at such young age from such trauma? He could have become a true life Magneto driven by pain, rage and the lust for revenge.

The twist is good fun and all, but the idea that you would put your wife through that torture so your enemy could enjoy himself is a little too much to believe, isn't it?
