-------
What if we could just pull the water straight out of the air in the form of
condensation from the humidity? There would be no contaminates in the humidity
itself and our process will further purify the water; this is called the “Self Reliant
Water Supply”. Almost anyone can build his or her very own in just a short amount
of time and at very minimal cost.
By using the “Self Reliant Water Supply” in our home, we can circumvent the risks
associated with the public water infrastructure and the potential harm that may
arise from it. Disease, contamination, effects of natural disaster, etc… all of these
unfortunate circumstances can be avoided.
At the core of the “Self Reliant Water Supply” is a dehumidifier, which allows us to
pull water straight out of the humidity in the air. Water is then collected into a
capture basin, transferred through a purifier and then re-mineralized.
Depending on the humidity levels where you live, the “Self Reliant Water Supply”
has the potential to produce large amounts of water. This can be beneficial if your
main drinking water source becomes contaminated or in the event of natural
disasters.
SAFETY
You cannot assume that water produced by a dehumidifier alone will be pure. The
water is collected (or condensed) over coils in the dehumidifier. The actual
condensation drips off of these coils to produce water. These coils are usually made
of aluminum, copper or other metallic construction. When metallic sources are
introduced into any water supply system, the threat of potential harm increases.
Fortunately, we can eliminate these risks. There are just a couple of steps we must take for our water to become some of the best tasting and safest drinking water available.
We MUST purify the water before it can be drinkable. Purifying our condensed
water through a high quality purifier does this.
Furthermore, after purifying our water, it has become essentially distilled water.
Now, drinking distilled water in a survival situation is acceptable. What we want to
accomplish though, is water that is not only pure, but good for us as well. If a person
were to drink just distilled water, over time this water could potentially “leach”
valuable minerals out of our body. We need these minerals to sustain our health, so
it would be best to add them back in.
After the purifying process is complete, we will add one half (1/2) teaspoon of
crushed Himalayan Salt to each gallon of water we produce. This action will “remineralize”
the purified water we have produced. This particular salt enriches the
water with 84 minerals our bodies need to remain healthy and hydrated. This salt is
also what gives the water that very smooth taste.
Please watch all 5 videos in the series (Part’s 1-5) to get full instruction on how you can generate your very own purified & mineralized drinking water at home.

I would put a float control and lift pump. The dehumidifier can start on low water demand. Also A cheap UV filter

I am so impressed with this. I'm getting two dehumidifiers. We are gonna hook them up to our solar panels and make it totaly free. Excellent video.

To make more water, the dehumidifier should be outside. Having it sitting in a garage or inside the house, the dehumidifier is trying to take humidity out of the room. So it will make the humidity drop if it’s in a room. I ran my dehumidifier outside and always at night when the power was cheaper. The dehumidifier was positioned in a covered area outside. I live in California and every night our humidity is much more than during the day. Any dust or bugs would be filtered out by the water purifier. You did a great job. Good video. Thank you!

I think I'll make one with a third shelf so the dehumidifier can automatically feed into the Berkey which can automatically feed into the storable container. Fewer manual steps.

I'm setting up a system here @ home. My question is why not collect the water directly into the filtration unit, ilimnating the 5gal bottle in the process?

I asked myself the same question! Just have the filter at the bottom of the hose therefore filtering directly from the dehumidifier ultimately skipping an entire process

Why do you need to filter it at all? It’s pretty much distilled water as it is.

@@BillStreeter the amount of airborne solids in the average home is insane. For instance there is so much crap in the air of a house i have to clean some forced air furnaces flame sensors for a couple customers twice a winter. This occurs mostly due to airborne silicate from dyer sheets and cleaners but there are other culprits. (Lennox and Bryant have done the most lab testing on these issues). All air fresheners add crap to the air as well. The filtration is there to stop you from ingesting that type of crap as it will stick in the condensed water at a higher rate than remain as free air particles.

with the speed of the humidifier vs. speed of the filters, why wouldn't you just run it straight through the filter and collect it in a water barrel?

People, please don't drink water produced by dehumidifiers!!! Their coils (the parts that condense water) don't have a food‑grade coating. And some coils are even coated with bactericides and mold reducing compounds which are highly toxic if ingested. I am putting this comment on all of the videos in this series to raise awareness.

She is right. It "can be" safe to drink, but it should really be ozonated in addition to being filtered. As long as you're thorough in your filtration and purification then it's fine. But from dehumidification straight to drinking; I sure as hell wouldn't do it!
