    Bro, major props to you for these super detailed comparisons! It is obvious that you have put so much effort in making them. You have earned my sub! I have a z fold 5 and just bought the oneplus open to test it out. In the end, I think I'll return the open and keep my fold. The fold's software just cannot be beat honestly for me. The open is a very good device but some things just really bother me. I hate the fact that the front and inner screen has to be the same layout. The phone is basically made to be like a small tablet so we should have the option to have it blown up instead of having like 2 small screens side by side. Makes all my widget look so small on such a big screen. I hate that we can't customize our app grid. I also don't like how you can't choose which page is your home page and it'll always be the leftmost screen. I don't use the app drawer and i like to keep the calendar screen on the left, then home screen, and the rest are my apps pages. I also don't like the scrolling labels for apps or the quick settings. Why can't the labels just go into 2 lines^ You also can't turn off the google feed on the open? The side bar should also be more customizable like being able to move it up and down like you want. I could probably fix most of these by using a 3rd party launcher but then i'd lose the task bar. The cameras are good on the open but nothing that makes me go wow over the fold. And it seems almost inconsistent at times too as sometimes the pictures just come out washed out or soft. All in all, both devices are good devices for different people. For me, I'll stick with my fold.

    I barely used Dex but used s pen often. I think Samsung having so much customization is great but i hate some of the jank i get. My OnePlus 7 pro was the fastest smoothest phone i ever used next to my Nexus 5. I'm getting the open and can't wait!i hate also how slow my pixel and note charge which was part of this decision. I don't give a treat about wireless charging. Place on dock 20 mins and gain 5-7%. Na doc.

    @@salmo18diaz I think the OnePlus Open has better camera hardware than the fold 5, but it really comes down to preference in terms of how the phones process images. Imo I don’t think either phone has a way worse camera than the 23Ultra. The 23U will definitely produce higher quality images, but even that is something you have to zoom in and pixel peep to fully see.

    I'm taking a lot of courses and use my Fold 3 often to view content. I'm able to overlap Samsung Notes over a video or presentation with transparency enough, where I can take notes, while still watching the video or viewing the presentation. Does the Open have the ability to turn down the opacity on applications? Is there a note taking application similar to Samsung Notes, and lastly, I often minimize my apps from pop-up view and usually have about 7-8 apps at the ready, that colaps all together for easy access and switching. Does the Open allow multiple popup's and do they collapse together when not in use? I'm asking because I'm know I will be upgrading my Fold 3 at some point and I do like the Open's Canvas multitasking and think it's very unique. I just want to know if it has these functions as I will likely be needing them for the foreseeable future. If not, I think I'll just wait on the Fold 6 and hope that Samsung addresses the aspect ratio and allow SPen support on the Front display as well. Any insight you could give me would be very helpful.

  • @JamaltlLee

    @JamaltlLee

    7 ай бұрын

    The OnePlus Open can't adjust the opacity of pop up view apps, it doesn't minimize pop up view the same as Samsung, and it also can only have one app opened in pop up view at a time. I think your best bet for your use case is to wait for the Fold 6 like you said. The Open is really cool, but it doesn't have all the little features and optimizations that Samsung one UI has.

    You could either sell the s22U and pay the difference, Upgrade to the Fold 5 and sell that to buy the OnePlus Open, or wait a bit for better deals on the OnePlus Open. There’s probably not much you can do unless you find a way to finance the Open, maybe check bestbuy? I know in Canada they offer financing.

    @@benndavison9171 in that case maybe the fold 5 would be the better option for you because you're already familiar with samsungs software. Unless you really hate the narrow outside screen, I don't think the oneplus open is necessarily the better overall phone. Fold 5 has wireless charging, full water resistance, a higher level of customization and software optimization, and other stuff. Both are great phones, so it really comes down to nit-picky things to find deal breakers for either one for you personally.

    How long have you had the fold 5? Would you say the folding screen would last two years

  • @JamaltlLee

    @JamaltlLee

    8 ай бұрын

    The Fold5 only came out 3 months ago. Samsung continues to improve the durability every year, but it really depends on how you use your phone, whether or not the screen will last you 2 years. My friend who works construction and uses his phone on site (high levels of dust) started having hinge issues after 1 year of use. My wife, who drops her phone a lot, had a flip4 start having hinge issues after 6 months, which caused the screen to shatter. They did change the hinge design on the Fold5 so hopefully, that translates to better durability. And there have been way less reports in the past 3 months of hinge/screen issues than in the first 3 months of previous models.

    It's hard to say because it can be different from user to user. Every fold has reports of screens breaking randomly, but there are also reports of screens lasting years without any issues. Inherently folding phones are more likely to break than normal phones. I recommend getting extra warranty if you buy a foldable phone.

  • @JamaltlLee

    8 ай бұрын

    It's really hard to say which one is more durable because there's so many factors that can impact durability. The z Fold series have a history of developing issues within 1 year, but samsung also changed the type of hinge the fold 5 has and its supposed to cause the screen to last longer. The oneplus open is rated at 1million lifetime folds, but the phone is still new so only time will tell how durable the screen will actually be in a few years. Both phones have had reports of broken screens already, so you should probably buy extra warranty for any device that has folding glass. Hope this helps.
