Just so wonderful to see brave Khanyisa join her precious elephant herd for daily walks and to see them all so happy and extremely well cared for by devoted Adine and their human family carers. Elephants truly know if a human has genuine love in their hearts.💜💙💚🐘🐘🐘💛🤎🧡

That’s wonderful!! A tracking elephant!! People really need to learn how to respect these beautiful babies. They are truly worth more than gold to this world!! Khanyisa is so cute anytime she tries to throw dirt on hersel Lol 😂, she has really grown so much!!

The men who care for and supervise the elephants are highly qualified with their extensive knowledge and their patient understanding of elephant behavior and physical and emotional needs. The men retain so much data for science that they are indispensable. Thank you for the privilege of hearing and learning from them.

Little Khanysa hugging them for her milk they FEED on a bottle as they would on their mom ...when the sediment gets stuck in bottle good to shake it i would assume just as,a formula baby made bottle ....she is an amazing baby elephant and this is such a wonderful place hope it stays on forever

Thank you, Jan. Adine is so light on her feet! Her footage is so smooth... when I take it is bumpy and not so great :-)

Will Khanyisa’s healed wounds ever cause her problems again, like with thick scars? Also, will the deep wounds that are healed on either side of her mouth remain supple by themselves, or does a caregiver have to rub an emollient cream on them daily. And does she need ointment in her eyes on a daily basis? Finally, it was mentioned that stem cell therapy was used on Khanyisa’s wounds. Is there a site you could point to that would explain how this stem cell therapy helped heal Khanyisa’s wounds? Thank you for sharing these beautiful creatures on video with those of us that will never see them in person.

Stem cell therapy is used to repair or heal many types of tissue injury in both humans and animals. There’s a lot of different sites that discuss its use. It’s been around for some time now actually. They can pull stem cells from donors or from the patient themselves I believe. For instance , humans with hard to heal wounds can donate their own stem cells via blood drawn etc. the lab then pulls the stem cells, or growth hormones from the blood then mix them in a solution that is used when dressing the wounds. The wounds heal much faster when a persons own growth hormone is applied to the injured tissue. It is very interesting.

It was so adorable the way Khanyisa touched Herman's face (I'm sorry if I misspelled your name!) while drinking her bottle it was really heart-warming! The bull who broke his leg really touched my heart and I'm so happy to see he's able to walk and lead a happy life! Thank you for what you did for him, Khanyisa and all the other elephants! Tigere has been more prominent at Jabulani until now - so yes, we have covered his story in Jabulani - but will over time share his story with HERD followers too!

I think you are right. I have proposed before that Adine and Tigere and some of the long term carers who have been through tick and thin with the jabulani/herd elephant conservation should get an honorary degrees from the most prestigious South African Universities. I also suggested to Adine that some of us will not hesitate to pay for wild animal studies degrees for some of the carers especially those who can be fast tracked due to 5-20 years of working with animals like Tigere, lost, Kinsani (female herd carer), Reply. They should sit for those exams as they will smack it. Due to extreme disadvantage due to apartheid these guys will be able to come out of poverty and set up an elephant education centre within herd area for school visits etc. This guys should not be made to feel small when a rich white south african kid with 3 years wild animals or 3 years zoology degree will earn more than them and make them feel they are nothing. That will not be just.

Great question! Snakes are part of life in the bush... they tend to stay out of our way. Especially when they feel the vibrations of elephants enroute... an elephant poses a much greater threat to a snake by stepping on them!

When you look at Khanyisa boody you see some one bending over walking. Lol. I love these videos everyday. Does she irritate the guys with her trunk. I could never get enough of her or the other elephants.

I really hope this ok to ask, but why does the landscape seem so very dry right now, is it always like that or is it simply the season?? Just worried about them since I see so many sticks, etc and not much green? Love you all!

Thank you for being so polite when asking! And of course it is okay to ask.. :-) We are smack bang in the middle of a cold winter. You would not have recognised it in Jan, feb, Mar, when we had rains. (take a look at our earlier footage in the year) - the green returns when the rains return - hopefully Mother nature will be kind to us she was last year, with great rains.

Hey I'm enjoying every minute of these presentations and learning lots, your footage is second to none, walking with these beautiful, gentle giants. But your audio goes from so clear to not so clear. I feel we are missing out on lots of your great insights into this close connection with these beautiful creatures because of poor audio. Maybe you can get a "remote microphone" (if such a thing exists) so that we don't miss a word you say as it is just fascinating. Hope we can watch Khanyisa and the rest of the Herd for the next 20 years or more.

When you got her she was eager to learn ,it seems she love who ever she was with .I’m so proud of Khanyisa.precious little girl you are loved by a lot of people and her family .she hugs them how sweet .

Adine, thank you for educating us about ellies, so interesting. I went to a zoo one time long ago and the elephants were eating and one cow grabbed some grass and offered to me I'll never forget that.

i actually believe they know this, they know these are orphans from moms who were killed by monsters for ivory they know and so they absolutely love taking care of their own, i also believe they know more than WE think animals ALL animals are not stupid they just think different and as a matter of fact I feel very stupid next to these amazing intelligent gentle creatures they are so much better than us

Baby khanysia is the cutest and sweetest baby elephant ever. I have to laugh how she loves to suckle Lundi and Bubi but neither has any milk! I also love to watch her run to catch up with the herd in the a.m.

Jabulani is soooo on my bucket list...in the very near future...yes I feel so connected to it and knowing i am going for a good cause helping the elephant's will make it so much more fulfilling ..what a beautiful place. It's been a dream of mine forever

Sorry if already have answered this question, but how long will Khanyisa live/stay in the orphanage? I looked over the Jabulani web page [so informative and interesting] but I could not find the answer. Will she need to reside at the orphanage until she is weaned? Tamisa still drinks milk/formula from a bucket and she is several years old. When will Kanyisa spend most if not all of her time living and roaming with the herd. I love and respect the work you and your staff do and the care you provide to our fellow spirits that we share this world with - I look forward to each new video. Thank you!

Hi Patricia! Thanks for asking ( and scouring our website for the answer first!) We don't have a definite date - as Adine will feel when she is ready. However, we think by this coming summer months when it is warmer for her transition!

Wow Khanyisa went from 90 to 256 kilo's. I saw how sick she was when you found her. You could just see it in her eyes how very sick she was. What a fantastic recovery she's made. You guys are so awesome.

Adine made an error in her words there, it was actually 124KG from rescue - she had mentioned the weight of Mopane rather, who we lost in December last year, sadly.
