    Sir, thank you so much for this so very good, professional and detailed video on this transmission. I have a quick question for you...at the 25 minutes and 2 second mark you show a couple of tubes that need to be tapped into the case. What do you think would happen if that tube comes off? Of course, that’s what happened to me and I noticed after I lost 4th gear and removed the oil pan before dismounting the transmission (which I haven’t done). Everything works perfect and there are no noises or grinding or nothing, only the lack of overdrive. All the solenoids are working well and with the scanner on while test driving it, fourth gear engages but you can’t feel it. Thank you so much for the video again and hope I can hear from you soon. God bless

    Thanks yet again.. I was puzzled by the manual telling me only 5 clutches.. and 6 steel plates.. and well, the clearance did not measure at all.. figured that it needed more of course, to fill in the clearance but wanted to be sure first before doing so.

    @ghostses, it looks like the first set of frictions you put in after the front planetary are not connected to anything. Normally, the frictions plate's teeth match up to a cylinder. any idea where they connect or did I miss something?

    I can't say for sure Joe. I've posted a disassembly series- and this reassembly series. It's been quite some time for both. It's still running fine to date. Good luck, G.

    Instead of using the strap to hold, theres a little tool for this, very cheap on ebay, looks like a little set of stairs, I used it for tightening sprocket nut on HD motorcycle, i believe it would work for this application as well, its called primary drive lock tool, check it out, may help someone.

    Ed, based off my memory- the outer cage should be loose and you should be able to lift it up so you can set the snap ring in the groove. That's where I would start. Then make sure the bearings are installed the correct way. Lastly- the sun gear has to go in the correct way. I can't recall which way it is- but the video would show everything. Good luck, G.

    Do you know if this is a U140F or U140E transmission? I'm rebuilding my U140F rear case but forgot how many steels and friction there are for the 1st & reverse brake pack. You say the manual is inaccurate gives 5 steels and 5 frictions in the plate count so I'm wondering if the 5 steels and 5 frictions I used in my U140F are too few explaining why I lost all movement after my partial rebuild.

  • @ghostses

    @ghostses

    3 жыл бұрын

    If you took all of the measurements and did the math like I stated and came up with 0.6 mm/0.024 inch- you should be good. The end play should be between 0.2 - 0.9mm (.008 - .035 in.) Hope this helps, G.

  • @ghostses

    @ghostses

    Pretty sure you would need a scanner. I don't know if the parts stores can scan transmission codes, but you might ask. Other than that, you would need to buy a scanner (not sure which one or how much) or perhaps take it to a shop so they can pull the codes. Good luck, G.

  • @ghostses

    @ghostses

    @@edgeofdecember_2880 Not much experience here as this is only my second automatic transmission to do. I didn't have an aluminum planetary as I recall- everything was steel. I'm not sure what you mean there. I think you can do the job if you choose to. Just be methodical and slow. The worst part is the removal and re-installation part IMO. I have a disassembly series up as well if you haven't seen it. It doesn't show taking it out, but does show everything else. Take a look if you like. Take care, G.
