Thanks for the videos. Seeing the difference between the Marantz SR8015 and the Cinema 30. I am leaning on purchasing the SR8015 since the close out prices are almost 50 percent off. Replacing my damaged SR6015.

You have the best videos and have helped me really wrap my head around the Denon and Marantz offerings. I think I’m going to choose the 8015 over the cinema 30. I don’t need extra subs, or Dirac. I’m just hoping there isn’t much more Il be missing. The price on the 8015 is just too good and I still get the toroidal transformer .. 😅

A lot of people are confused about LFE, and rightfully so. Just think of it this way: LFE applies an HPF (high-pass filter), and LFE+Mains does not apply an HPF (fronts are not crossed over and get the full bandwidth). Most of the time, LFE+MAins sounds worse (bloated), so just leave it on LFE.

Thanks for the breakdown of LFE management. I feel the configuration should be tried both ways. It may come down to the type of main speakers you have. -Jon

The phase thing is interesting to me. I have seen other reviews using different speakers and different AVR's have phase issues. To my understanding some speaker manufacturers wire tweeters or some piece on a crossover out of phase on purpose for various reasons. Also, I am curious if there is a weird impedance created from a low voltage level in an electrolytic capacitor that goes away once the cap is charged allowing the speakers to test normally.

How the speaker is internally wired can be the case. I would jump on that explanation aside from the following observations: 1) If related to the speaker wiring, then all speakers of the same model will report the same error. In my case, 1 of 2 front speakers and 3 of 4 ceiling speakers suggest that there is something more causing the reported error. 2) The speakers Denon and Marantz receivers indicate as having a phase issue is inconsistent. My current guess is that the room is causing Audyssey to detect the phase error. Variations in reflections of sound is causing the phase inconsistencies. As room furnishings change, so does the speaker which Audyssey reports an error changes. Feel free to offer counter positions as I would like to learn more on how Audyssey calculates the phase errors. Jon

@@ripewave honestly I've never used Audyssey though, I have used Sony's new ES AVR and it did kick back a phase error on Klipsch RP series speaker and then report it as normal on the second run through after disconnecting and reconnecting power. Andrew Robinson had the same thing happen and mentioned it in his 7000ES review. Also, I can't recall who tore down a Klipsch RP speaker but they found the tweeter to be wired out of phase. After the 3000ES was returned, for various reasons, I use a Pioneer Elite VSX-LX505 and have had a variety of speakers from 20 year old MB Quart QL towers, a Klipsch RP 5.0 system, a Klipsch Heritage Theater Bar, various SVS models, and Emotive Airmotiv+ speakers (which I still use) and Dirac has yet to report a phase error. When you mentioned it, at first I was curious if the receiver measured a strange impedance reading but now I'm wondering if something like room reflection is causing Audyssey to "hear" something abnormal.

Hi, I have bought this amplifier and wondering which speaker setup is best,Is Front wide better than 6 fixed in the roof? it is then Atmos setup but you are also talking about Auro 13.1 which is completely different setup, Is it better than Atoms? greetings Lars

What is the bottom line? I am waiting for you to review the AV10. People say you can get them for a discount. My suggestion is Sony license the 360 Spatial DSP to help with Trinov like steering. Mathew Poe doesn't regard Directional Subwoofers. I disagree with him. Imagine we had 9 x B&W CT7.4 LCRS speakers bed layer and 4 x directional subwoofers at a 90 - 110 Hz crossover so that the bass is more full range. I just think we need more Yamaha / Sony type DSP for people that want to hear lots of sound from the heights and rears from more conventional soundtracks.

I suspect that from a sound quality perspective they will be similar. If you need more channels and don’t want external amplifiers to purchase, hook up and take space, then the Denon A1H cannot be touched. -Jon
