I take my 2020 from Detroit to Tennessee and I get 23 mpg all the time. No problem. My girl friends mom live on a crazy mountain and it works just fine. My old 4.3 was a dog. I am getting to like this little 4.

I’m happy someone else likes theirs. The 4.3L really, to me also, was a gutless engine. Reliable, but gutless. I really like mine too. The MPG on the highway really is pretty good. Quite a bit better than my 3.5 EcoBoost.

Don't put oil changes out that far. Try to aim for 5000 miles. Direct injection gas engines make the oil dirty much faster than older gas engines. Oil changes are cheaper than engine repairs.

I get ~20mpg on the highway with my '15 Silverado LT 4X4 5.3L. I deleted the AFM with a Diablew tune back when I got the truck ('17 at 21K) and am happy with it. To me there's just more stress on the 2.7 turbocharged engine than on a V8. Also added the STL 010 TBV bypass for lower 6L80E temps.

All turbos by design have higher combustion chamber pressures but that doesn't mean they won't last. Big rig engines can last up 750,000 miles, those are turbo diesels running at even higher pressures. Longevity is based on its engineering and quality

@@hansgruber2509 Agreed! The 2.7 does access peak torque at 1500rpm. I believe the 5.3 doesn’t reach peak torque until somewhere in the 4000’s range.

the thing your not seeing is the long stroke on the 2.7 which is longer than the 6.6 duramax which helps in torque. The 5.3l is a solid engine but no torque monster and the 2.7/w a turbo will pull with out shifting down as much as the 5.3. Longevity is to be determined but basically its a diesel engine switched to gas. Only thing they will have problems with is carbon build up in the higher mileage.

I never liked the power in the 4.3L for some reason. It just felt like it made a lot of noise and didn’t really go anywhere. The 5.3L I could semi tolerate, but even the 5.3 made peak power so late in the rev range. The 2.7L is a great little performer, but time will tell the overall reliability. Make no mistake the 2.7 IS the replacement for the 5.3. Manufactures love to trim the engine options and the 2.7 does that. With more torque than the 5.0 ford, 5.7 and 6.4 Hemi and the 5.0 Coyote the only reason to have the 5.3 is to have an engine that screams on hills, blows AFM parts up and sounds like the Duke boys are in town after a visit to the exhaust shop.
