I have the same pickup as in this video and I love it. It has plenty of power and it pulls a 5,000 lb travel trailer with ease. Wife and I took over 200 mile road trip last weekend without the trailer and we got all the way up to 31 mph. Using cruise control going between 60 and 65 mph. On interstate the lowest we got was 22 mpg but mostly in the 25 mph range using cruise control and not using the Ethanol gas but the 100% You will not get good gas with the Ethanol and with heavy feet on the gas pedal.🤠

@@luismujica7917 I have three of them that we purchased to replace our aging fleet trucks in 2019. It's almost 2023 with the 2023 model year already out and we now have over 100K miles on two of the three trucks and the other is around 90K miles. Typically they tow trailers around a good amount of time and my employees are allowed to occasionally use them for recreational use with prior authorization. They have not been babied at all. After over three years and a bunch of miles the little 2.7 and 8 speed has only ever required basic maintenance. Over the course of that amount of time we have also used far less fuel than the 5.3 V8 trucks they replaced. We have not thus far made any plans to trade them in, although we may upgrade them in a couple years again as like any vehicle they will inevitably require more repairs on suspension, brakes, and steering components as they age. And I am sure they will end up eventually needing other mechanical repairs as well, but so far, they've worked out just fine after over 3 years of service (as you mentioned).

@@luismujica7917 The 2.7 turbo is a very reliable motor. And they just updated it to get more HP and torque. Bottom line...4 and 6 cylinder turbos are the thing. GM and Ford have both headed in that direction. The V8 is becoming obsolete...unless you want to wait to get a truck you paid $60K for.

If you're worried about the AFM/cyl. deactivation , go buy a Range programmer that plugs into the OBD port and shuts all of that off . Also shits the annoying start/stop at stop lights off . If you take it in for warranty work , simply unplug it and it's like it was never there . I have one on my 2017 Silverado and they work great . Everyone should go test drive one of these trucks , it will change your attitude on the 2.7 turbo in a 1/2 ton truck . I was really impressed by it .

I don't want any kind of lane assist, auto stop start, push start, etc. I tried a Tacoma just to see how it felt and it screamed at me about the car ahead of me even with plenty of stopping distance. Took that one right off the list after that. I'd love a full size with the basics of the Colorado. Less tech the better! Cheaper to fix and far less to break/rely on!

I had a Silverado rental for a week with the 2.7 turbo. I actually was quite impressed. Very torque’e and I see the appeal. My only criticism is that the mpg is not what they advertise it as. It averages just barely above my Ram’s V8 hemi with cylinder deactivation. Here’s a fact. A smaller engine that is built to perform comparably to a V8 will NOT get great MPGs. It’s just impossible. I do think it’s remarkable that it does have comparable torque and horsepower numbers.

Spend "a little more money and get the V8"? The 5.3 on average is $13,000 more than the 2.7 Turbo. I have a 2022 2.7 turbo and love it. It has more torque than my 5.3. The HP overall isn't noticeable enough to warrant spending $13K more on the 8. And towing hasn't been an issue. The 4 isn't getting that much better gas mileage true...but even so...the power and feel isn't different enough to warrant spending that much more on the 8. Of course, this video was done by two guys who even said they aren't truck guys.

I have the 2020 GMC sierra base model 2.7 L 4 x 4 which is the exact same truck as in your video. There is no money to be saved as far as gas consumption however at least in Canada the savings is in the ability to buy this truck as a base model. I was searching for trucks in 2020 to find a work truck or what is also know in Canada as a contractor’s truck. It was very difficult to find one. My truck was the only one on the dealer’s lot that was a base model 4 x 4 and the only option that I added was remote start for the winter. My truck has all the features I would need . I agree if you took an eight cylinder base model truck and compared it in price to the 2.7 L if there’s only a few thousand dollars difference in the purchase price. but try and find that eight cylinder truck in the double cab model like in your review and it’s not quite so easy. usually the eight cylinder models fall into two categories upper level models with lots of trim bigger displays heated seats in the works and then the so-called work trucks which are regular cab 8 foot box. which is as you know is great if you’re a carpenter but not really all that useful as a family vehicle I haul my riding mower once a year for maintenance and I take my pup every day in my truck. I would say the the 2.7 L double cab truck falls into the category of ”Dad’s” truck, Great for hauling kids ,pets and trips to Home Depot.

I have a 2022 lease to own I love it. First day I left a stop light a little quick and squealed the tires what was that me ? I recently pulled a 20ft trailer with a bush hog on it total weight around 6000lbs the only problem I had was speeding it wants to cruise at 80 or 85 and that's with the trailer. I pulled a good size mountain and when I came over the top in trailer haul mode it held the truck back to 50mph and I never had to hit the brakes. The only con I can think of is it's a little hard to judge where the tires are I guess I am use to a little shorter truck but I love this thing. If you drive one just watch your speed oh at 80mph it's 1700 rpm it's barely working.

Having an engine that is twice the size, less hp/torque, and even slightly better mileage is a good improvement as well as similar haul/tow capacity. This little engine produces more torque than the V8 and gets better fuel economy period. As others mentioned it tows wit h ease. This is not your typical run-of-the-mill four-cylinder. It is also not your typical run-of-the-mill turbo. This engine has been designed to hit its max torque numbers at low RPMs. The Turbo is unique in that it’s electronically controlled. I'm not taking truck advice from a guy wearing a BMW hat and boat shoes. He's probably a nice guy, but nope

I have been looking for 2.7 liter turbo engine reviews and they always talk about paint for 10 minutes. I would never buy one.

With gas prices being what they are. Every truck should be coming with a locking fuel door !

You are test driving a f ing truck with a BMW hat on. And yes it can get up to 30 mpg if you drive it right. I personally like it alot and have no problem saying I own a 4 cylinder truck it puts the v8 torque #'s to shame just my opinion

Question should be is the 8 cyl worth it and the answer is no, 5.3 is a POG engine with numberous problems and this 4 cyl is purpose built and very heavy duty. You need to do your research before making videos.

I can assure you that I did. And my opinion is that I would have the 8 cyclinder. But thats for me. I dont have hauling or towing needs. All I can do is provide an overview of the vehicle and provide my opinion based on my needs. And I did just that. Thanks.

What I’ve been telling people. This is the new engine GM is going to push. They even put it on the Trail Boss. People refuse to give it a chance. I got a junk removal business and haul a 5x8 trailer. Have filled it up with sofas, trash, and the bed filled with wood, and other miscellaneous items and you don’t even feel it.
