I LOVE YOU!! You have a great sense of humor and are very informative. I knew they'd be good for something. Just gold.
Loved it! No filler, informative, and entertaining!
These videos are great! I waded through sooo many before I found yours! I can't tell you how much I appreciate you making these. HUGE help. You made it very enjoyable to watch.
I've spent a lot of time watching at how to grow Mushroom in the last week or so. This is just what I needed. Great information and great personality. Please keep it up, love your take on mushrooming.
Great information here, I'm just beginning to learn mushrooms and this was very helpful. Thank you so much for taking the time to make this tutorial video.

👋🙄Thank you for the great video information.. where to get the mushroom media, I interested to purchase it. I'm a mushroom farmers.. from Brunei 🇧🇳😁🤗
"...well, they're good for a lot of things." You might be my favorite mushroomer on youtube next to Brian Callow. Aside from the obvious reasons, you make this all less intimidating for beginners. You explain it in easier to understand terms, and it is really appreciated.
Loving all the struggles you've had on this video knowing how successful you've become :) thank you for inspiring me to strive harder. :)
This is crucial. I've got more information on practice and technique from this one video then I have in the last two days of binge-watching mushroom farmer vids. Much appreciated🙏

Thanks I have been doing mushrooms for 4 years now and I learn something new every day. Thank you.
Your by far the prettiest person I've seen in mycology. Great video girl
Love your videos I am new to this so they really help a lot plus it's nice to have a good-looking teacher!
For anyone curios, a PID controller is a controller that is used in many industrial processes or various kinds of machinery. It stands for Proportional Integral Derivative, which describes how the controller is constructed mathematically. The PI-part determines how quickly the state of the process is changed (the temperature in this case) while the D-part is there to soften out any oscillations that might occur. The convenient thing about a PID controller is that it doesn't require any physical modelling of the machine itself, instead it's just a matter of fine tuning three different constants. Some controllers even have the ability to fine tune those constants by itself as more measurements of step responses are made.
I really love your teknics and for shure that they will make me go up with a lot of things...
Nice work - thanks for the primer Jewell.
Your video rocks! It's so refreshing to see a smart beautiful woman explaining mycology. Thanks, Kim
I've just found your videos, thanks so much for your hard work and sharing your knowledge.
great explanation I just found your channel researching mushroom farming. Thank you for all the info it's helping my farm a lot!
Thank you for this easy to follow video guide on how to create sawdust substrate :-) You rock!
Hey Jewl I love what your doing great work! Keep making Videos I'm looking forward to spawning a shop of my own.
I totally forgot this channel, it's so awesome to find you're again
Omg ty jewell you are amazing !!!!! Ty for your time and effort. Shroom power!!!
You are awesome! I love your work ethic.
Thank You Jewell .I learn a lot !
Your videos have filled in a lot of blanks I've had about the process. People just seem to skim over stuff but seeing you do things in real time helps.
Great video! I'm finding your videos a great resource. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. :)
great to watch your process !! so cool
Really smart and articulate. Really nice vid.
loving your mushroom videos! please make more :)
Thank you for making this, really helpful video!
Well done. Keep up the good work
"I'm on my knees, guys go ahead and insert your comments, I've heard them all." Hahaha had me dying
Pid: proportional integral reset I believe. And just lets you fine tune the right set point accurately. Awesome and interesting also. Lots of hard work too but looks worth it. Thanks for the video 🙏🏼 🍄🍄🍄

So down to Earth...and not afraid to get a little dirty. Gotta love her!!
Thanks for the video. Very informative.
Your awesome! Keep keeping it real
Great sense of humor Yet try to care less about negative comments, they will always do, and you will survive Keep up the good work. Interesting
You said "I do have some nice equipment". 😁 You're pretty cool.
Thank you for the informative video!
This is the first video of yours that I have watched. The content is great and relevant to your topic. However, I can't help but constantly be distracted by how cute and charming you are. I feel like if we met in person, we would be great friends. Anyway, keep up the good work. I already see a few more of your videos that are on my "need to watch" list. Happy Mushrooming!
There’s something specific about your personality that I find very relatable as opposed to most other growers! Great content! Question, what do you think about soaking substrate in a dolomite lime mix for pasteurization? As opposed to heating it. I’ve read the PH change kills all bacteria and is perfectly okay for mycelium, but for whatever reason if any, the method is not very commonly used in this community.
You go girl!!!!
Belo trabalho. Seu vídeo me inspirou a continuar acreditando no meu sonho de produzir cogumelos. Grato.
Awesome vids! Thanks for sharing. Just getting started growing. Hope to do some oysters to start. I can get hardwood pellets easily but soybean not so much. Can I use only pellets for a substrate? They are easy for me to get, very cheap and I dont think they need to be pasteurized/sterilized because they should be pretty clean from processing. I think they are probably dried in an oven after they are extruded... I could use a bit more spawn to make sure. Thanks for any advice...
One strong lady. Nice.
good job hope the automation is coming along more n more
Cool Stuff. 😎 good humor good content nice smiles. Pretty great channel.
Greetings from Finland. I am going to try grow mushrooms the same way as you do. I have a vacuum sealer, I am going to use it to suck all the air out from the bags.
Proud of you sista!
Awesome vid !!
Excellent video 😉
I loved the video thank you so much

how long do i put 5 pound bags in the pressure cooker for? Cant afford a drum now. And how much water in there? Im going to start with the presto. Do you have a video for that? Thank you.

@@pollopollo3531 it depends on what size of presto pressure cooker you have for bags is a lot for a presto it won't fit in a 23 quart put it all the way to the bottom of the damn thing and put water halfway up the bags
Im from México and learning a lot with your videos before starting my proyect. Can I reuse that bags?
Lol good humor and good info
I have my first inoculation just about ready for fruiting and am wondering if hamster pellets/feed would work as a substrate?
Lmao. Gots to love a shiela with a decent sense of humour! Best of luck with ur 1st Masters Mix!!!

So cute, thank you
Do you know much about using hard wood that is green im thinking of chipping my own. most of the wood still has its own moisture, do you think i would need to add water still?
I dont know if you are still doing it the same way but if you are you should look up a sandbag filler. It is just a thing to hold the bag up and open so you can fill it easier.
New sub! Keeping it fun

HY, why additional pasteurisation when wood pellels are already "sterilised". They pass through +90 celsius degrees minimum?
Hey how do these bags not melt? Some people say they have to separate it from the sides, but you seem to just rest them against the metal sides. No melting occurs?
Suggestion; to make things more comfortable for your knees, get a bunch of cinder blocks and stack 2-3 layers high and cut 1/2" plywood to fit and lay on top. My knees would be killing me if did that. Good channel and thank you!
I saw Eric’s kit. Can you purchase a sterilizer already built like that? I am not good at building stuff. I’d love to purchase a large barrel sterilizer already built. I have to say I am impressed and good job for 4 months in. You inspire me to get on it. Thank you

Hey Jewell, I don't know which you check more between here or personal email but I shot you an email recently about this same question. Is Soybean hulls the same as Soybean meal? From what I can see, (under the impression that hulls resemble more of those hard wood pellets) and what you mentioned (@4:32 about the texture/mixture being fine), i wonder if it's something I can get away with using. Awesome personality and information! Thanks again for your time and insight. Much love!
Thanks for showing us all the details into making sawdust blocks. Are soybean hulls the same thing as soy hull pellets?

Tom Bailey My pleasure! Yeah I’m pretty sure it’s the same thing just compressed in pelleted form. I’ve never found those but they would be much easier than what I have because I get a lot of dust everywhere vs just hydrating the pellets like the fuel pellets. If anyone knows otherwise chime in!
awesome sauce
Proportional-Integral-Derivative is the full term = PID. It is a control loop feedback algorithm. Good stuff, but I'm kinda biased since industrial controls are what I do for my daytime work! But mushrooms are my passion. Cool channel and good info.
Just wondering: For the initial hydration of the wood pellets couldn't you just put a tap in the large basin, fill it with water to above the top of the pellets, open the tap and let it drain out naturally? Obviously this should be done outside, but I'd think you'd be left with wood mush at 'field consistency'. Is this too wet for your grow? If this is OK, you could fill the basin fast and save some time.
I made sawdust blocks and they are ready to sterilize in my 41 Qt. American Canner.. Looks like it will hold 5 bags and 1 jar. How deep should the water be? And how long and what temp/pressure ?
Awesome
Can you boil at 180+ for an hour? I keep seeing that it's an option.
great clip, keep them coming, subing
Nice video, I am retired and I want try growing mushrooms for my self? If it works out I may start selling them at our farmers market !
Solid video introduction. One thing to remember is that with many pellet manufactures they use oils and other ingredients when they make the pellets. Some of that you may not want in your substrate for the mushrooms. I use mushroommediaonline.com for bulk orders of the oak pellets. They are even going to offer the soybean hulls starting this month.
Curious could you use a cement mixer to do this mixing?
20:48 OMG!!!!!!!!!! So cool lol !! you got me off guard.. Words that i never heard before !! Custom T-Shirt
Hi! What is the recommended particle size of the sawdust?

Fo' sho!!!! Keep watching the rest of them, you need to catch up on the latest:)
I'm sneak watching this.. while I'm at work what's type of Mushrooms grow in this Substrate?? thanks will watch in detail today at home...
Take it from an old construction worker the best way to mix in those two ingredients or any two ingredients if you wet the the pallets make a great big hole in the middle in drag the sawdust up on the sides or on the ends put dumping a bucket of the soy stuff and then mix it in one side at a time dragging folding over the sawdust into the soy it'll make so much easier and you should get a big hole with two holes in it you'll have that mixed in a couple of minutes. Also I would have to different tubs when you got it mixed to a certain amount shovel it into the other tub which will mix it even better and then shove it back into the first time again it'll be thoroughly mixed that way. Of course a small electric cement mixer would probably be the best idea
Did you say soybean hulls, are these whole soybeans? Please send a quick description so I can order it correctly. Thank you, keep up the good work! I'm hoping to dive in this spring.
J I was trained to not expose the filter patch to the steam. It may damage it. so Just flip the plastic towards you and cover the filter patch.
Mrs. Jewell, in your never video with the industrial mixer how much was that setup? I can’t find prices online for the PACK manufacturing system you have. Thanks

Hi. I see they sell soy hulls loose and soy hulls in pellet form. Any preference on which is better? Same price for both. Thanks
its sad that you have to say something about "on your knees" jokes. I apologize for people being so stupid. You are on here giving us your time and knowledge for free. I really appreciate your videos as I am trying to learn as much as possible about the mushroom business. Keep doing what your doing, I think the majority thank you sincerely.
...i like the scoopin' part.
What kind of bags do you use?
o yeah it was oyster mushrooms duuh what I was searching for what about a shed u think I can put bags if I get a Shed...to start growing...
Jewell how much would you say one block is costing you? IM growing some oyesters and I'm putting together a business plan. CAn you tell me where your numbers are coming from. SO like hwat your paying for the different parts of your substrate.
New to the whole mushroom growing. ? My question is why not go to a saw mill and get hardwood saw dust instead of using hardwood pellets. The saw dust is already moist/wet can be bought in bulk. Tim
Check out using a soul mixer that goes into the chuck of a drill

I only have access to sawdust directly from the sawmill. My Question is do I need to compost the sawdust for some days or I can just go ahead and pausterize.

With sawdust you would sterilize, not pasteurize but no you don’t need to compost
