Again Richard, Amazing effort and skill. I must say that the sap pockets made me feel a bit uncomfortable with securing the face plate but you got it done! Your insight to design and execution is heads above anyone that I have ever met. Keep making it happen brother!

Wow! Right there be some beautiful words Mr Able! Can’t thank you enough sir! They there be put in a good order of words like 😉 Sap pockets are so pretty though! When drilling the cleats on the rear, the drill bit would, after enough drilling for the screw to hold the clear on, occasionally disappear into a random pocket or two! Worry😮😂
My gosh, I think I’m famous!! you’re right that came to life. Stellar video just love the narration and angles.. really fine job man. You were along on the television….

Hmmmmm, thank you Doug! Now there’s the question! What pattern to do on the bigger bit! I may just do another like the smaller one, because as much as I like to entertain the viewers with varying designs, this design does sell VERY well for good money, so may just make it a big sibling 🤣🤣🤣. Thoughts welcome 🙏 😊👍

Beautiful burl. Gorgeous workmanship. The color and finish is fantastic. The piece is a nice wall hanger and I think you could turn into a beautiful clock.

Hi Richard absolutely stunning wall hanging. Such an amazing job on that burl / burr. So glad you left it natural and not tried to fill it with resin can’t believe I’m saying that as I love resin work. Can’t wait to see it when it comes back from Lenore. Looking forward to the next video. Cheers 🇦🇺

Hey Rob! Yer, I think I’ve passed it several times already! 🤣🤣 Really should start making more of an effort to find an upgrade, but if the soul is still on the shoe and there’s no holes in it, should I buy new shoes? 😢
I thought we was going to see 30kg take the roof off😂 it Turned out a nice piece in the end 😍

It may have done if it had! But, just over 30kg was the whole thing! I then cut a lump off so probably only looking at 10-13kg turning at 500RPM
Wow! This has to be the most beautiful piece I’ve ever seen. Can’t wait to see part 2!

That is an awesome Burr and a stunning piece you made from it. Looking forward to seeing the final piece once it has been gilded. Also looking forward to seeing the big piece completed. Can definitely see the issue you would have with that at 500rpm. I remember on my previous lathe, having to adjust the belt to the slowest speed and then quickly having to switch it off and cut a bit off to try and balance the piece... Didn't have enough space to reposition what I had. My whole shed would shake and things would come off the wall.

🤣🤣🤣🤣 Yarp, been there with the shaking, now counterbalance or reset like I did this one, repositioned the faceplate 😁👍 Thank you as always sir for your complimentary words 🤗

You need a bigger lathe! I had no idea you were doing all your big pieces on such a tiny Draper. Get yourself a Nova Nebula! Happy for you to pop over to see my Galaxi in action if you'd like.
@WoodWithD
Жыл бұрын
Yup, little old Draper WTL95 with custom frame made up a metal worker friend that isn’t perfect, but allows a lot more that the original stand would! And also seen in these videos is a 40 year old Tyme Cub! Been 1/4 looking for a bigger lathe, but space is also an issue AND if I can turn what I make now, with working machines, why upgrade?

@@gemofthewoods5802 It's not the age (a lot less than your jointer), it's the size, or lack of it. Big pieces can throw a lathe around - you can see the wobbling in the video. A bigger, heavier machine would help Richard to make even more impressive pieces, easier and quicker.
I am making comments all over your video, and giving people thumbs up etc...

Hi Matt, welcome along. I had some issues when I first got this lathe. The manual is still available online and the microfiche for parts and companies still selling parts. I stripped the outer casing off by undoing the housing screws and went investigating and found the belt was near knackered - first fault and then the adjusters were clogged up with sawdust and bits of belt, so I set about stripping further, broke some parts doing so and after ordering everything I needed including some circlip pliers, I put it back together and it’s been working great since, that was 8 years ago!
In half you could make 2 platters
