Such down to earth personality he had! And completely unaffected and honest. For people who think he wasn't as popular, they are grossly mistaken. He was a superstar in his heyday and had a massive fan following. Rajesh Khanna's era came after him. My mom was a big fan, I didn't get it then. But recently saw couple of his movies and I can sense his appeal. Also loved how the interviewer was so respectful. Looks like he had a lot more to share, wish the interview could have been longer . They truly don't make men like this now. Todays 'stars' are bloated with their stardom and so full of themselves, it's a pain to watch their interviews. This one was delightful, loved it!

Very True about ur comment that they don't make men like this now..I have watched his movies during my school days..I was very young to acknowledge his acting abilities..First movie I think I saw was SANGAM..after watching this movie I became a huge fan of his..Truly he was a Silver Jubilee Star.

He was a natural actor. I had seen some of his best movies:,gunj uthi shahnai, palki, zindagi and saathi etc. A class actor.

2020. This kind of peace , lehza, behaviour, respect, class we need today. Today's self proclaimed stars should learn from such people how to deal it.

It has been long time since he passed but this opportunity has recreated the memories came live. The feeling of simplicity and creativity is clearly reflecting in his talks. We will always be memorable.

Even before I had seen a single Rajendra Kumar movie I was his fan thanks to my seniors in school who were fida over him. When I actually saw his film Dil ek Mandir I cried so much that I almost fainted. After that I caught up with all his movies and cried in every single movie. I became a joke amongst my friends. They would collect all their hankies and drop them in my lap. I remained his die hard fan till he left the movies.

Amongst the various Bollywood actors, Rajendra Kumar Tuli is one of those people for whom I have the most respect. Under rated star of Bollywood....An excellent star with jubilee movies and was named Jubilee Kumar of film industry.Media never applauded his achievements.If any actor can come between Dilip Sahib and Big B is only Rajendra Kumar......

I am fan of RAJENDRA KUMAR . His work or acting was excellent.

Rajendra Kumar a very Humble & graceful Actor behaving with lot of Dignity & Grace. First of all he speaks in Hindi and give the credit of Hit film to the co-actors & crews of the film. He gave so much Hit Films that he was called as Jubilee Kumar. At one point of time he had 9 films running simultaneously in the theaters all running for silver Jubilee ( 25 Weeks). Now days the actor cannot guarantee a run of 25 Days and they are called as Super star. They never danced on stage or wedding and never appeared in any advertising Bill boards. Yet they were revered and fans awaited eagerly for their films. The songs of their films were beautiful and still remembered for their content & Melody.

Even today, when I am 74 years old, there is a choking feeling in my throat when I see a video or photo of Rajendra Kumar. In my college days, in my later teens, and later in my youth, his roles and his acting - particularly in films like Dil Ek Mandir, Sangam, Aman - gave me some ideals to live for, gave me reason to look for something valuable in life beyond self-interest. Death is unable to erase the memory of such a great actor. He will be in our hearts until the moment of our own departure

I had loved his film " sangam" in 1963.i was in school then. I loved jhook Gaya aasman too.those were good days.cinema tickets used to be 2rs.

The Great Rajinder kumar born in Punjab Pakistan and his village is very close to my Uncle.s city zafarwal and Kumar sir village was sankhatra Sialkot that time.He Went to school in Pakistan side and there education Medium was urdu.And The west punjabis speak a Very good urdu.

Agreed. I have a feeling that the yesteryear stars were also more educated and perhaps had more life experience than most of the stars one sees today; many of whom are educated till class 9 or 10 and often star kids who are pretty sheltered from real life.

These yesteryear actors were respected for a reason. They had a certain panache, royalty yet they exuded simplicity and humility. Their language was clean no matter if it was English or Hindi. They spoke proudly yet it didn't felt like arrogance. And lastly,their conversations were devoid of cheap and below the belt jokes.

This is the first time I’ve heard the hugely successful film star Rajendra (jubilee) Kumar speak: Till today ( September 15th 2016) I never knew WHY he was such a HUGELY successful star who delivered hits after hits CONSISTENTLY in 1960s and early 70s . Today I know the SECRET ( as he revealed it) 1) he always worked as a TEAM member with rest of the cast/ crew, never as a one man show spoilt brat star 2) he always placed himself in the SKIN of the character he was playing/ portraying , and not as Rajendra Kumar the star 3) he NEVER tried to increase or decrease the role he was portraying BUT worked with the sole objective that the MOVIE ( the end result) is well made and SUCCESSFUL 4) He is HUMBLE and SINCERE to the core 5) He watched, studied( and LEARNED) how actual characters ( he was supposed to play) like Doctors soldiers, musicians lawyers and he WORKED hard to learn there mannerisms that he may look what he was playing n( do justice to the role 6) he has lot of respect for Movie makers co actors , musicians technicians and the CREW BOTTOM-LINE: this man was NOT a fluke success. There is so many things to admire in the gem of a person who gave us some very wonderful movies. He will live on the beautiful roles that he played. The beauty of Rajendra Kumar was that he came across as a sincere honest to good person on screen when he played the role of a doctor in Dil Ek Mandir and as faithful self sacrificing friend in Sangam. He was loved in his role in Mere Mehboob. In the later years, because of his popularity, his roles had become commercialized in romantic movies that was not good for him.

As said by Mr.Vishal Agarwal, Rajendra Kumar is the most underrated actor in bollywood till date.No credit was given to his hard work & efforts,instead media labelled him as a Luckey Star.This is not correct.Mr.Raj Sahu & Mr.Girish Shenoy both had written excellent about the Jubilee Star.I met him twice & felt very blessed for that.

One of the most level headed star of his times. He maintained personal contacts with all film makers and actors from the South. This helped him get roles in films like "Dil Ek Mandir", "Saathi", "Dharti" , " Zindagi", "Suraj", all successful remake films, from the original Tamil films. His remake from Telugu films include "Sasural" ( original film called IILarikam in Telugu). Other remakes include "Jhuk gaya aasman" from the original 1941 English film " Here comes Mr.Jordan". If the title card includes names like Gemini films, L.V.Prasad, AVM, C.V.Sridhar, S.Krishnamurthy, T Prakash Rao, Govindarajan, you can be certain that those are all remake movies. When these film makers wanted to remake their successful family dramas, in Hindi, their first choice in that era was Rajendra Kumar, who fitted into their story subject beautifully. Later at the producers request, Rajendra Kumar suggested the rest of the cast or helped in roping in other actors like Raajkumar for their dual hero subject films. These producers never approached other heros directly, but only through Rajendra Kumar. This same technique was later followed by Jeetendra who in the late 70s and 80s became first choice hero for all Southern family drama remakes into Hindi. Jeetendra had the same discipline, took whatever salary was given to him, completed his movies within 45-60 days, and had a series of hits in the 80s. All Southern Remakes directed by southern directors. Rajendra Kumar, invested his earning heavily into land, property, real estate. Today that wealth runs into crores and crores. That is why despite a failed career his son Kumar Gaurav can still life a comfortable life. Never a star to throw tantrums. Very well disciplined person. Maintained his looks and personality for many, many years. The association between him, Nargis and Sunil dutt, which got formed in "Mother India", later became a sambandhi relationship due to his son's marriage with Sunil Dutt- Nargis's daughter. When Sunil Dutt ( a real gentleman), suffered mental anguish because of the antics of his errant son Sanjay Dutt, it was Rajendra Kumar who stood with the family at all times to tide over the crisis. Sunil Dutt's own party the Congress washed their hands off him It was only Bal Thackeray who came to Sunil Dutt's rescue knowing the inherent goodness of Sunil Dutt. Even now when you hear his answers, you understand what a level headed man Rajendra Kumar is.

suraj and zindagi are not remakes they were directly made in hindi , zindagi is later remade in tamil and telugu. zindagi is although produced by south banner gemini but directed by ramanand sagar suraj is directed and produced by south people but technicians and actors most of them are from hindi and its not remake of any south movie in 1950s, 1960s and 1970s many hindi movies are produced by south film makers , its not just only of rajendra kumar even they produced films with dev anand , shammi kapoor and sunil dutt. and later few movies with rajesh khanna also in those days many hindi heros used to maintain good contacts with madras based industry , even many times dilip kumar used to come to madras for shooting luckily rajendra kumar got some good hits with south film makers compared to other bollywood heros. Its not just for south filmmakers , rajendra kumar used to select the artists for his most of films and he very much involved in movie making particularly since Mere Mehboob and afterwards . for Arzoo also he forced producer to consider sadhana as heroin and even reduced his fees later he was gifted with delhi territory revenue by producer which is much higher than his actual remuneration , also for same movie when dharmendra , manoj kumar rejected second lead role rajendra kumar suggested firoz khan name even for sangam for foreign shooting rajkapoor took him to europe even though he does not have any thing to do there , he was helping raj Kapoor in direction. Waheeda rehman used to tease rajendra kumar stating that he is one hero with whom producers give 1 job remuneration and make him work for 3 jobs. comparing with Jitendra is not correct , jitendra mostly is south movies dependent and in particularly telugu movies he is remaking and casting jaya prada , sridevi in such movies. Jitendra having weak acting skills so in mid part of his career he started much depending on south hit movies as a minimum garuntee. in his early career he to had good hits with hindi directors rajejndra kumar had bigger hits with hindi directors like ramanand sagar , mohan kumar ,and his biggest hit mere mehboob is directed by HS Rawail with whome he started as assistant director , also heard this movie money is kept by rajendra kumar only to help HS Rawail who was in losses by then some family dramas , emotional movies were remade from south like garana, sasural, hamrahi, didl ek mandir , saathi , sunehra sansar, darthi. his movies like chirag kaha roshani kaha , zindagi are first made in hindi and later remade to south. I think kanoon is also remade in south later after it became hit in hindi
