Part 1 FN2 Type R, ALL K20 Gearboxes. Clutch dampener bypass and Tegiwa shift bushes, fitting guide

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Part one of two manual transmission upgrades!
Part one we fit a HEL clutch clutch dampener delete and Tegiwa shifter bushes at home DIY.
Long videos but I wanted to capture as much as I can of the process.
What these parts do:
clutch damper bypass - gives real world feel of the pedal and removed the softening effect the dampener has on your shifts. This enables your clutch to be engaged and disengaged easier and faster.
19:00 into the video Tegiwa shifter bushes - take some slack out the shifter that has developed with age to reduce unwanted movement.
Part two will include fitting detent springs and selector springs!
If you haven’t done this yet do it!

    Awesome video mate, we thought about doing this to our track car but I think Paul mentioned its great for every day driving but for track it would increase the wear on the M/C so have not done it. (Unable to remember which forum I read it on.) Plus bleeding the clutch,.... does not sound fun. Had enough fun with the brakes lol But looking at the state of yours, maybe we will have to give it ago.

    Thanks for your comment 🙏 Yeah I think I read too it can increase wear, but everything’s worn anyway, so may as well for the benefit, my thinking anyway. Parts aren’t too expensive. It’s quite easy to bleed from the top if you tie an 8mm spanner to your wrist Incase you drop it lol. And the state of that fluid! It’s only done around 8-10k since Honda HQ changed it. Tried a better fluid in it this time Intake pipe off gives you access 🫡

    @@Matty_Champwhite Yeah this is a fair point, i think we will start collecting the parts over winter. We are on a tight budget and currently in the RED!!! Because the brake calipers were seized. We are running Injen intake so we cannot really complain about access lol

    @@MotorMonkeyz I got caught in a torrential downpour on the way back 120 mile journey… that was anxiety inducing, but I use a port bung to jam in the fog scoop in those situations. Stops it inhaling enough water to cause issues

    When doing bypass damper would I need to refill the clutch fluid or anything or is it just straight swap? Gonna buy one tonight.

    thanks, do you know what fluid and how much fluid I'd need? I may do the gearbox oil aswell whilst i'm there? Maybe 2L of MTF3? would cover both? or 3L?

  • @Matty_Champwhite

    @Matty_Champwhite

    10 ай бұрын

    @@JannyUK so the clutch system uses the same type of dot4 hydraulic brake fluid as the braking system, and yeah for the gearbox that’s separate and spot on with the Mtf3 👌
