    Man, I know this is an older video, but the new release... holy crap. It's the most amazing, polished, smoothest OS I've ever run on an encrypted persistence USB live boot, or full install. And it's lighter then Mint. It's pretty sweet. Swapped from Kali. Now... I did run into a wifi issue on an older computer, updating to the latest kernel, but.. still worth it. :) I've updated my USB persistence (125Gb) several times, installed many apps. Run's smoother than windows 10, even on USB.

    Actually, they have done a pretty good job in their studio edition. I think I will download it and try making my videos in Parrot OS studio edition.

    I have never tested parrot, thanks for the review! Recently I used Subgraph OS (something like Tails) and it's a blast, very solid distro in terms of anonymity ect.

    Hi, Did you check the parrot forum ? There is tip how to solve issue with lightdm in Virtualbox . Basically you need to switch to terminal and install Virtualbox Additions

    hi, thanks for the review the vm bug seems to be a virtualbox incompatibility with the latest linux kernel, nothing to do with the distro then

    I was pleased by the previous version, after Kali was a step-back in terms of stability and performance compared to BT RC3, at least on my laptops. I will try the new Parrot for sure. In the forest of security/pentest/forensic distros, Fedora Security Spin stayed a while on my hdd, and worth a watch is ADHD the 'Advanced Harbinger Distribution' I finaly installed Windows bootable on an external usb-hdd for android adb/fastboot/iTunes since I always experienced problems with all windows versions running as VM, bricked two phones by update failure.

    Have to correct myself, it is called 'Active Defense Harbinger Distro', it combines multiple Honeypots with various red team stuff, attacker decloak, metasploiting, infecting and tracing/tracking.

    Kiran Kannan I hope you didn't take those thumbs up as a complete yes but in short yes but as your host operating system I would not suggest it as they have a lot of quirks that are not so host/hardware friendly

    I think that it would be a great idea if you bought an arm device (like raspberry pi), and try linux distros on it. I haven't seen many people doing this on the YT, it would be awsome.

    It's nice to have distro's like these for people who are interested in penetration testing and/or anonimity related stuff. Out of curiousity I like to check them out but never duck deep into the parts that cover the features where they distinguish themselves from other 'normal use distro's'. About a year ago I fiddled around with Kodachi3 (www.digi77.com/linux-kodachi). It's more like Tails than Parrot OS AND it's pretty out of date. Nevertheless it has some very nice solutions and tools I couldn't find in the other flavours. So DT, it will only cost you another couple of hours less sleeping to do a review ;) Anyway, nice intro in Parrot OS, especially the non-penetratiion testing part ;) It indeed looks like a pretty good multimedia production OS. Thanks for sharing DT!

    :D Yeah, clipping can also be done with ffmpeg, just like overlays, some basic filtering, screen capturing, streaming..... name it. Of course Kdenlive is a pretty good video editor, but the biggest drawback: it's S.L.O.W. as you k.n.o.w. 8D

    No, it would be rather pointless for me. I wouldn't use 90% of the programs installed on it because I don't do pen testing and such.

    TJ, I did take a look at Kali once on the channel. Wasn't much of a review since I don't use the sort of programs that Kali ships with.

    Haven't watched this one yet, and probably won't because some of your most regular comments in other vids of yours are putting me off - wish you'd stop encouraging devs to put Gimp & Libre Office on by default in their ISO's. I for one never use Gimp (arguably never will), and only selectively install 2 Libre progs via the command line as I'm not after the whole suite. Might be the exception, but we don't all want what you want.

    Pen testing for noobs, this and Kali and the others are sort of pointless, if someone can pen test then they don't need a cobbled up distro with fancy GUIs to do it, and those that can't need to RTFM before dicking around with this stuff, giving a 5 year old a loaded gun to play with springs to mind.

  • @taylorbro5515

    @taylorbro5515

    Clive how is it pointless? I know several pen testers who prefer using Kali and such, mainly Kali myself, it's not pointless if you know what your doing or your goal outcome. I'd say its only pointless IF you don't understand the distros. However, I'd like to hear your 2 cents on this and maybe help shed some light on your comment. As you said, these distros are as loaded guns and in the right hands can be lethal, so, how come it's pointless?
