Even getting just 50% of the intended inheritance was way more than they deserved. If I were the grandparents, I would've changed the will again behind their backs so they'd get a dollar each.

Plot twist: they changed their will so the parents would only be getting two dollars each before making the ultimatum.

They more than likely signed some form of contract. So it wouldn't hold up in court if they did. I imagine they realized the parents would have held their son hostage if they weren't getting inheritance and the grandparents seem to care more about him then the money so this was the easiest route

He was the favorite for not being neurodivergent. But he was honestly the nicest person in that home, my only safety net at times. My DNA donors actually hated when my brother and I got along because it meant I was happy. I haven't gotten to speak to my brother in almost 2 years because I went full NC with the DNA donors, and he unfortunately lives with them and takes their word as gospel at times... They probably would have realized that hiring a lawyer to force them to no longer have parental rights, to pay child support, and to cease and desist with the harassment... Would have been a better way to spend said half of inheritance than to give the bio parents anything. It would have been good to file a charges for child abuse as well, that email was gold for justice if they had used it right.

This has only 1 potential outcome provided that somebody other than them has a modicum of decency. This was entirely reliant on the aunt being oblivious or uncaring, the sister just not asking any questions about where OP had gone, and even if they did tell her, did they expect her to just say okay and move on?? Oh and that sister would even be willing to move everything in that house anyway. Like this was so poorly thought out its genuinely baffling

I guarantee that ops parents will want to talk to op once he's getting married or when he's having kids, they'll try to pretend like nothing happened.

Umm why did the parents tell the truth about the inheritance?? Surely a grown adult would feel entitled to lie to a kid?? Especially since they hate the kid already anyway?? This story is fake isn't it??

NTA- They had it all comin 2 em, n the sister no better. She knew he wasn't bein treated fairly n she didn't do a thing 2 change it or stop their parents behaviour. While she has apologised it's a long road 2 all is 4gotten n 4given

You simply screenshot the texts saying they wish op so wasn't born, then post that. Make it clear that no matter what, parents get no money from grandparents

I have a really good buddy that when we were 14 his family moved a few hours away for a new job and while down there his step dad and mom split and then his mom got on drugs with a drug addict. She eventually kicked him out and he had to couch surf until one of his buddies up there, that he met at school, convinced his parents to let him move in. So he did that until he left for the army at 18. He’s doing good now though. Married. Living a few states away. Has his own house and ranked up multiple times in the army.

I'm questioning where the patents got their mentality from. Not from the grandparents, of course. It's either their own egos or just born that way ig.

What I was thinking when the dad said this was unfair at this point9:39 Oh well you know what's actually unfair being kicked out your house at 16 being ignored your whole life only sort of wanted by your parents when they faced the threat of losing their inheritance if they reconcile with you you don't know s*** about unfair

She must be the so called "Unplanned" and her mother might have suffered severely during the birth thats why they were doing this. Look everyone, this is the ancient times to till now reasoning of neglectful parents...Even my father hated me like this even though I am the only child saying he and his side hates me because "I am a girl"...IDK why they hate me just for that...

    1. I'd love if you posted a link to the reddit story so we can verify that it's actually real and not generated by AI 2. Please use a female voice if OP is female 3. This "AITA" thing is annoying as hell. Is there even ONE post that doesn't use that term? Makes it seem even more like it's all fake.
