​ BlackHawk Paramotor Hi Heidi, sorry for hijacking the post. I am about to say something, that you might have heard millions of times. My dream is to become Paramotor instructor. Long story short, It was my dream to become a pilot from when I was a kid. But when applying for flight school, i found that I have red green colour deficiency, when I did my medicals. Ever since that, i was just barely existing by doing something, I don't love (Software developer). I was not living my life, besides I thought that I can never become a pilot, after my heart and dream was shattered when I found out that I had colour deficiency. Fast forward, one day I came across, a paramotor video, I can hear my heart beating!. Later I found out that there is no medicals required for Paramotor and only class B in Canada to become instructor. I am immigrating to Canada in 6 months. And I've decided I am gonna follow my heart. No matter, if my standard of life if reduced, because I will live my life! Sorry if I bored you with my story. Coming to the question, I want you to answer as one dreamer to another as a human. I am planning on taking my training with you guys. After that doing my Instructor course and getting a licence (in Canada), (Question) what are the opportunities for a Paramotor instructor?(I know, there will not be opportunities all round the year), will I be making enough ? (I also know, it varies from location to location and people to people, but I just want your general words on that) Last but not least, how is your life as a paramotor instructor? (You are like an inspiration) Thank you so much for reading this long post!!! I hope one day, I will become as happy as you are as a paramotor instructor.

Wow lady, I got all emotional when you finally motored on up into the sky, & I am totally inspired to follow in your footsteps..... One question as an outsider looking in...I have seen quite a few vids where the glider is laid out on gravel/ small rocks etc., as is the case here, & I am wondering if there is a safety issue here, I mean isn’t there a risk of damage to the fabric, scratches n’ tears etc ? Thanks for such a wonderful comment! I'll forward your kind words to Jen (the Pilot in the video)! That's a very good question... These gliders are made from incredibly strong material. Our School gliders get dragged all over that flight field and they last a very long time. It's not "ideal" to launch on gravel or rough terrain / dirt all the time because of increased wear on the material... In the spring, our field has a LOT more grass on it. We also have students do a full inspection of the equipment prior to flight - including every glider line & cell. I hope this comment helps and we're always here to help if you have any questions! Hey, just stumbled upon your KZread channel while I was researching powered paragliders, overall I'm extremely impressed and will be getting a 125 LITE package as soon as I have the time and $ to get started! I have a couple of questions though: 1) Where is your closest training center to west central Florida? 2) I may be going to college in Germany, I've already checked the local laws here regarding flying and should be A-OK but have any of your clients ever traveled internationally with the gear? That's a GREAT question and people ask that one quite a bit... I love climbing up to a few thousand feet, shutting the motor off, and just gliding around in the beautiful silence... Then, when I get back down to a few hundred feet, I'll start the motor up and do it all over again! These Paragliders have an amazing "glide-ratio"... About 7-10 feet forward for every one foot down, and about 18-25 MPH average speed. It's a really SAFE and mellow way to explore the world. @@ollylewin Agreed! We are very careful to limit our class sizes so each student gets all the one-on-one attention they need to progress as fast as possible. Large group classes with only one Instructor can be quite chaotic. I worked for another Manufacturer that had 5+ students for one Instructor at a time. finally i found the exact thing i really wanna do. cant wait to try this out.well theres much to ask. so with blackhawkparamotor you can only learn this in the USA? or is there something like blackhawkparamotor Europe? or do you know friends, or people who can teach you this in Europe? if not, i would fly from Vienna to the USA to learn this. if i would do so, how much time will i need to learn this, after what time can you start flying alone? what will it +- cost to get lessons, license and the gear you need? as a 23 years old student, i really have to ask those things, because i would have to work very hard to get that money together. but i know one thing, i will do this as soon as possible! it would be just nice to get some starting information, so i could search for a second job just tomorrow :) i checked your homepage with the packages but i dont really understand. are those packages the gear, the lessons or both? and how do i know which package i should chose? How much of a concern is solar UV radiation on the equipment? And if one of the support lines gets damaged, is it straight forward to repair?

Excellent questions! As long as you don't leave your glider or equipment sitting in a field or outside in the sun for days, your gear should last for many many years. We have countless customers who have been flying the same glider for a decade or more. As far as the lines go, they are not very expensive to replace and we can supply line-charts that help in case you ever need to replace one. That's REALLY common actually... The great thing about this sport is that it's all about "low and slow"... You can LITERALLY fly 5 feet off the ground if you want, and they go about 18-25 MPH. It's a great way to ease into overcoming that fear. What is the benefit of reverse launch vs forward launch?

That's a great question! When the winds are stronger, sometimes it can be hard to get enough "momentum or leverage" to pull the glider up against the wind by running forward. In this case, many Pilots will use reverse launching because it can be easier to pull the glider up while facing it. This also prevents the Pilot from being pulled backwards and falling back. If there is zero wind, the glider might need more momentum and speed to inflate or get it above your head, so a "running start" into a forward launch would be used. Seriously. 23 miles of distance on the road takes 3 hours in traffic, on this in a straight line it would take less than an hour.

I would love to add a motor, it would be so much better, don't have to depend on ridge lift, or go high just to glide down.

So, I understand the fact that this isn't really anymore expensive than buying a jetski or a dirt bike, but does anyone know if there are rental programs out there or training that involves the use of equipment? I would hate to buy all the gear only to find out that it isn't all I had hoped it would be.

Yes!!!! Make sure if you call someone, they don't require that you buy everything for them to train you. I would never spend that much on anything before I KNOW it's what I want. Many Dealers do this to make more $ of course, but there are also many Dealers and schools that are so small, they don't even have an extra motor to train you on. That would be like the State saying you have to buy a car before you get your license. We have enough gear to train a large group of students all at once. If someone tells you that you have to buy before you fly - move on to the next choice for sure. Hope that helps. How many days of training does it take to be able to fly on your own?

Great question! Everyone learns at a different rate, but as a rough estimate, it takes on average about 4-7 days to learn Foot-Launch, and about 3-5 days to learn Quad Flight. Some people pick it up faster, and others need more time. Our Instructors don't rush anyone and want students to learn at their own comfortable rate. Hope that helps! We let other pilots come out to the Ranch and fly all the time. Even if they don't have a BlackHawk, we want them to enjoy the beauty of the area. The Elektra has become our top-selling glider and is used by both motored & free-flight pilots around the world. whocares7777777777 Our Package Deals include everything needed to fly (Includes the Paraglider, which most manufacturers don't include in the price - and about $1000 in additional accessories)... The price really depends on which machine you need. What you need is determined by things like weight, age, elevation, flying style, etc. The best place to start is by talking to an expert on the phone or by visiting our "Package Deals" page on the BlackHawk Website. Complete Packages start at around $7000 and go from there. Remember... "Less is more" in this weight-sensitive sport. Bigger motors don't always mean "better." I have the money, but I'm afraid my family will disinherit me if I do this. If I can somehow "sneak" this sport in and fly abroad and have all the equipment without them even knowing my "Closeted Hobby".

You are not alone! This is such an "exotic-looking" experience that people's first reaction is "is it dangerous?" The best thing to do is to get your family to see them in person. Show them that Manufacturers are stating that "The FAA has said this is the safest form of personal flight - bar none." You are basically "flying a parachute - with a backup parachute and a flotation device!" It doesn't get much safer than that lol. If they will let you have a motorcycle or a quad, those are FAR more dangerous. There are less obstacles in the sky ;) We've had many people express your concern. When you have time, call our main office and let them know that you would like to speak with Robert personally. Thanks for the comment! On average, it takes about 3-5 days to learn the Foot-Launch Units, and about 3-4 days to learn to fly a Quad. It's easier than driving a stick-shift car! PLEASE don't teach yourself to fly an aircraft... It's possible of course, but the major issue is not knowing what to do WHEN SOMETHING GOES WRONG. Hi William. There are many teenagers who are Pilots. There is however a certain level of maturity, skill, and physique required to fly safely at such a young age. Blackhawk safety?

Safety is paramount to us and we go to great lengths to produce the safest possible gear. I know everyone who sells Paramotors will say the same thing about their product though right?... With the very high-liability nature of the Industry, there's no way any Manufacturer would stay in business for so many years unless safety was a top priority to them. If the product isn't safe, it simply won't sell. We sell more Paramotors than any other Manufacturer in the world and we're very proud that so many people choose us. Safety in this sport is highly misunderstood and so much of this comes from Dealers using "fear" as a tactic to sell their equipment. We've seen some of them go as far as telling potential customers that "they will die if they buy another brand than what they are selling." Can you imagine if Honda was telling customers that they would die if the buy a Suzuki? People wouldn't stand for that. This sport is really unlike any other Industry I've worked in. Shady marketing tactics like "fear" hurt the entire sport as a whole and even prevents some people from realizing their dream of flight. This sport is literally as safe as the Pilot makes it... Just like riding motorcycles. When someone dies on a motorcycle, people usually ask "what did the rider do?" In this sport, when someone is injured (which is extremely rare - regardless of brand), people tend to blame the Paramotor and not the Pilot. Very strange and it didn't used to be like that. It's not hard to figure out who the troublemakers are in this sport and stay away from businesses like that. Just be very careful out there when you are doing your research. This is a big investment for most people. If you are talking to someone and they start throwing rocks at other brands, that's a big red flag. If they are professional and not using fear to get your credit card, you should only hear about what makes their brand stand out and not what they feel is "bad" about every other brand. I always recommend talking to people who are not selling gear. Commission-hungry Dealers sometimes lose sight of why they got into the sport. To just fly. It's all about the flying - nothing more and nothing less. Talk to Pilots who have no motivation to sell you something,, and the information will be a lot more "pure." CHOPPERGIRL AIRWAR they just launched a new model the revolver 320. Its leaps and bounds more advanced then the units showed in the video. It has electric start and a cockpit. pretty neat stuff rolling out from Blackhawk!

Excellent video, I am so interested in paramotos, but I can hardly hear what she's saying because of the music. I am puzzled as to why video creators feel the need to add music, raw video is so much better. Just stop already. Is there an upload without the music?

You will have a LOT more fun with a "flying car" and a much better view lol ;) I know it's quite an investment... Like buying a dirt bike, quad, or other recreational or "fun" vehicle. Wow. Is that really necessary man? People of all walks-of-life enjoy this sport. Don't lose sight of what's important here... It's all about the flying - nothing more, nothing less. PLEASE try to be more positive if you plan on getting into this life-changing sport. We don't need any more "negative" people in PPG.

Out of all my questions I've posted about paramotoring, on all the channels I have, this is the one that gets a response? I guess I should thank you. I have some fears about getting into this hobby, but if snotty hipsters can handle it, then I know that I can handle it.

I also want to say that you're right. Paramotoring should be enjoyed by all walks of life, therefore I believe that it is my duty to give constructive criticism, so those with more influence and experience than me will be able to appeal to a wider audience.

You watch some awesome videos on KZread, get all excited about doing it, and then you start to see all the negativity out there when it comes to brands or Pilot biases. We're working hard on trying to make the sport a more positive place for newcomers - of ALL walks of life. Each Student or Customer we have is so much different from the next. We really do sell to absolutely all walks of life... Not just 20 year old Red Bull Pilots, or 65 year old retirees. We want everyone to realize their dream of flying. It's something very special to people like me. I was out at the BlackHawk Ranch (filming incidentally) when Jenn and her partner showed up, so I decided to follow their training experience. We have many other videos of people learning to fly and they are all different. Please keep learning more about us and what we do.
