    Why can I not find the BlackHawk LowBoy 3 in quad form? I only see it as a trike. Were the front axles an extra accessory? I like the way it looks, I'm looking for a place in Wisconsin to get into training and flying paramotors, any suggestions?

    evan gross 1 second ago I'm forced to sell my Blackhawk Aero 1000 package with upgraded aluminum 4.6 gallon gas tank, 3 carbon blade prop and quad front. Bought it from Mike Robinson of Blackhawk Powermotors last summer. I only have 13 flights on it because the weather here in Central NY is not the most dependable, and then covid hit....so I'm forced to sell it at a great loss. I also bought a GIN Condor TANDEM WING-serious upgrade for $4200...I'm selling the quad for only $12000 and the Wing for $3000 although it pains me to do so!

    There are a couple of comments here about things that were missed. As a fixed wing pilot, I'm accustomed to the use of pre-flight checklists. It's surprising to me that no one in the PPG community uses them. Too cool for such things? Also -- why is a student on his second flight not being checked by his instructor? If the student misses the seat belt, that's one thing. But how did an instructor miss it as well? Not a good sign. No helmet, no radio? So if a student has an issue in flight on his second flight, he's 100% on his own... Not ideal.

    You know what ? You NEVER start these things without the throttle/KILL switch In Your Hand, especially with the 'A' assists connected. If for any reason the throttle were to go to FULL throttle and it has happened, that paramotor is gone and it will climb til it runs out of gas then it will descend until it crashes into the trees ! FIRST RULE of paramotoring !!

    The quads are going to bring a lot more people to the sport, especially older guys that want to fly but may be out of shape, overweight or just lazy, lol. That machine looks rather big though, even for a quad.

  • @MarcAmenson

    @MarcAmenson

    4 жыл бұрын

    That’s the game plan, so many guys want to fly but can’t foot launch and don’t want to get into power parachuting because of the license. The Lowboy 3 is a bit larger, but the build quality and stability make it the best quad/trike available by far. Pair that with the 250cc 4 stroke engine and you have a flying machine that will last you for years.

    I'm asking because I'm ordering the exact same package next week (these videos definitely contributed to my decision, thank you). The website says 240 pounds of thrust, I would think that would be the stock prop. I'd be interested in cost for the upgraded prop. I had a phone conversation with Mike last week, I didn't think to ask about it.

    He probably should have secured the lock collars on both carabiner gates. I heard him screw the left one tight, however at about 3:17 into the video he connects the main riser on the right, but did not lock the collar. It will be interesting to see what else he forgot as the video continues. Yes, seat belts are important too. Where was the instructor again?

    Just a little bit of a suggestion. 1) Use all your runway. 2) Don't just "grab and go". Pull some throttle, get that wing up, back off the throttle, stabilize the wing, add power. 3) Get a mirror. 4) I too think the center of gravity is off...looks kind of nose heavy to me. 5) Use a helmet. I've been flying ultralight since 1980, have a friend that had a minor accident with a Quicksilver. He hit his head on the engine. Now he can smell and he has a hard time making very simple decisions. Anyway, I love that machine. Where is that made...in Switzerland, Germany? Thanks.

    A "little bit" of oscillation? Are you kidding me? Is this real life right now? The guy almost rolled it, and that just on the take off. Maybe no one told him about taking off directly into the wind? He was adding full power while the wing was practically doing a wing tip drag to the left side...Should have aborted but at least he got off the ground before breaking any bones. I wonder who trained the pilot... But anyway, I have to say that the BlackHawk looks really cool, like 'laid back' and all. It makes me wonder why so many reputable dealers talk dookie on them? At first, I was like, "wow. These guys are really rough on Black Hawk. Sheesh." So I thought they were just hating on the guy who had the coolest stuff. But after years of doing this, and getting out there and meeting people who know, and talking to people who know, I find out that It's not the people but rather the DESIGN of the BlackHawk that makes the mistake. Apparently, where the trike clips in to the wing, it leaves little in the way of adjustable length when you are considering your rear brake lines. They are set up low....about shoulder height, which leaves you only about 15 inches of appliable brakes. If they were set in higher, say,20 inches above shoulder heighth, then your brake pull would be an incredible 36 ~ 42" . A huge difference. Especially when you need the extra pull to prevent an accident. So after looking at the designs of all of the available trikes out there, I'm going with the Fresh Breeze X-1, Or the Freh Breeze Pod trike. And now I see why people ask "Was it another Blackhawk?" when someone dies on a paramotor...
