I completely gave up on AAA games about a decade ago, most modern devs are cultural parasite, they couldn't make anything meaningful if you put their lives on the line. They don't seem to have a genuine love for art either, it's just a job to put food on the table.

The Silent Hill subreddit is the most cringe thing ever. (Plenty of so called fans there are still coping. "Just wait til it comes out!") For some reason, all these weirdos jumped on the Silent Hill bandwagon and completely ruined it. I hold such people partially responsible for Konami's decision to remake SH2, because they hyped it online for over a decade. That's not even the best one... SH is just one of those things people love to make videos about, attempting to analyze and educate the rest of the world on its lore without ever playing the games.

Regarding the whole "trigger warning screen" shit, I've seen so many people passing off those kinds of screens as something not bad at all, because it's "better than having the characters get uglified, or better than having the politics shoved inside of the game", and frankly sometimes I can't tell whether these people are trying push said propaganda or if this is just a severe case of low expectations. Because here's the thing, yes a small warning is "better" than the whole product getting fucked with that shit, but "better" still doesn't mean "good", nor does it mean it's something we should just accept. It's like asking what's better, getting pissed on or getting someone to shit in your mouth?

One thing I really hate about modern remakes is how the devs change the art style of these older games to photo-realism. In this transition from stylized to realistic it's like all the soul is removed from the games. It also doesn't help that realism nowadays is used to celebrate the ugly like rendering all the peach fuzz on a woman's face.

Just look how much more dense and alive the world of MGS3 feels compared to MGSV. Virtual photo-realism is boring and is no longer impressive. Imagine if visuals peaked at the ps2 era-- like if technology continued to improve, but in-game models never needed to be above ps2 quality. AKA no need to spend seven years rendering every speck of dirt in every pour. The kind of games we might've had today is insane to think about. This obsession with tech ultimately cripples developers' potential.

The story and gameplay remain as they were when the game launched in 2003. As Such, some characters and cultural references contain stereotypes. Ubisoft acknowledges the negative impact of their representation. Much like in the game itself, we keep on learning about our world, our games, and the stories and representations within them.

I hope, HOPE, they run out of classics to make remake slop for within the mext 10 years, it's gonna be so funny watching them scramble around and squirm like insects trying to find ANY fondly remembered game that they haven't pozzed already.

The potential of the industry really did seem limitless in the early 2000s with all that innovation, i remember imagining just how amazing and how much better games would become if they were already that good then. Now gaming is 90% slop made by spiteful narcissists working for a corporate machine they claim to hate while actively vandalizing everything their perceived out-group values or antagonizing them. Gaming is merely an industry that exists within a wider, continuously more and more feminizing and destabilizing society and i don't see things improving within the foreseeable future. The best bet is to play and preserve the old stuff and what rare good modern stuff manages to slip through the cracks so that maybe one day, it can be replicated and isn't lost to time. We should probably count ourselves lucky that we got to experience the golden age from a prime position, i don't think anything like it will happen again in our lifetimes.

I relate to what you said in its entirety. The wonder and imagination of what was yet to come having experienced gaming since the 80's and seeing it up to the point you stated, was absolutely an amazing experience. Yet again, just to be nearly destroyed due to modern day. I wouldnt call it soul crushing but it is so disappointing and disheartening regardless. My favorite past time and hobby obliterated in many ways. Ive even went 18 months without gaming at one time. Something I never thought or could fathom happened. What a damn shame

The moral of the story here is that it's best if we remastered the games ourselves. We shouldn't have to do this, but the current state of the west is so overwhelmingly leftist (thanks fink and co) that there really is no other option. On the positive side, there are now more tools than ever to get started on your own. However, on the negative side, most of us are busy working longer hours than ever to pay bills and make ends meet (thanks again fink and co), so fan-made remasters are few and far between.

Look at the recent Link's Awakening DX HD remake on PC. Released out of nowhere. No name attached. Uploaded, taken down, and reuploaded by the community who took it and ran with it, amazed by the work put into it. It doesn't hurt to spell it out so the people in the back can hear it, but this is a fight for our culture, and it has to be a careful step-by-step process if you want to get it right and get your work into the hands of likeminded men. We're starving and humiliated right now, and we can only count on ourselves to reach out a helping hand, dust ourselves off and get up again.

The only way for this cultural vandalism of entertainment to end is if the education department can be taken back, which has been overtaken by them for the past 70+ years. Which then leads to all forms entertainment (sports, gaming, music, Hollywood, etc..), and I just don't see that happening anytime soon. I don’t know guys. Fan made projects have been targeted by activists who are puppets of the 1% demographic that controls everything. I hate GTA Online and everything about it, but the fact that Take Two banned many modders who worked on improving the game just told me all I needed to know about these mega corporations. The CEO of Take Two got rid of many employees, but he is getting millions in bonuses. It is pure greed, which is not only about money, but also about power. Nexus Mods also bans anybody who tries to create based mods for various games. You don’t like the forced pronouns in Starfield? Well there is, or was a mod for that. Nexus Mods got rid of it. This has to be a fight we have to take up. Our projects have to be brutally gatekept. Open source software is one of the easiest ways leftists can come in and completely ruin it, as I’ve seen happen before.

I see "Silent Hill 2" making headlines in 2024 and I simply use it as an opportunity to revisit the original game on PS2. The new shit doesn't exist, and in my home it will never, in any way replace the original, nor be mentioned in the same breath as the original. There's no pull towards these products once you see through what's going on in the industry - nothing there to tempt you to hand over your $60. We all see the diabolical shit they're pulling here, and it's already behind us. Just stick with the classics.

What they really want is to purge all record and proof that there ever was a normal, non-possed past where things made sense and where art was beautiful. Turn and twist the best works of our past, remake them, repackage them, bury the originals in every way imaginable; in search results, in removing them from online services - on and on until the only entertainment available is ”their” entertainment. Doing remakes is the next best thing to book burning. They’ve done this over and over again, blatantly and in the open, with more on the way, and they’ve gotten away with it for so long, they think they’re untouchable - that no one’s gearing up to push back against this regime when the day comes when they truly go mask off and start purging more than just our entertainment.

@@DouschNot that anyone here cares about Old Hollywood, but I remember back in 2019 some leftists complained about John Wayne Airport existing simply because of John Wayne himself. The reason? He did an infamous interview for a magazine way back in 1971. Actual film students at USC walked out of a John Wayne film exhibit. This is the kind of stuff that people need to pay attention to. I don’t need to say it, because these crazies going after old media is already here and already been here. Ian Fleming’s old 1950’s Bond novels need to be read by sensitivity writers. We have people who view old John Wayne movies and making racist statements about them on social media. We have people who praised the Rings of Power, because it taints the legacy of Tolkien’s work and philosophy. I am completely fed up with these people taking past entertainment media and telling us it was all bad. All they do is ruin it.

They teased people with tech demos. All they had to do is not change the plot or mis-market the game. A lot of zoomies and Gen Alpha won't play games with "bad / old graphics". I think that is a fundamentally incorrect way to view games (muh _ludo_ ) & with which to judge them. If you would have asked me in 1998 what 2020s would be like with hardware advances, I would have probably mentioned VR, semi-realistic physics models, different input controllers, improved AI. That last item. *How come there are no games taking advantage of extra processing to give a better AI/Computer enemy experience?* I'm thinking mainly strategy games for simplicity's sake. Panzer General, Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin, or even Warcraft II / Starcraft with local hardware being used for neural networks to make the computer play in novel, non-predictable ways - as well as learning from previous gameplay. Instead, we get bloated uncompressed textures and near photorealism. It's certainly a choice but not applicable in all cases for a "good game". The most entertaining gaming moments I have had were when enemy did something novel and surprised me... or pushing boundaries in a mod/game and seeing what breaks or is exploitable (for fun, not to ruin other people's games). I mean, Civ 5's AI is a literal state machine. People have built "computers" in Civ5 knowing precisely what the AI's behavior is going to be. For a strategy game, that's depressing... Also besides the technical & creative problems, yes, we have people actively trying to subvert this hobby & industry. It blows.

Gaming is over lads. I'm sorry, I miss it too but the egregore of the modern day has changed people so fundamentally that you cannot ever get classic gaming back because the people of silver and gold who created those projects don't exist anymore. Now it's wood stubble and straw people whose minds are seared so badly they could never create beauty if they even desired to do so.

I don't get those kind of messages. We keep seeing "Gaming is dead, goodbye" comments everywhere in all based channels, yet it's been years and we still see them. You don't really think it's dead and you still have some kind of attachment and hope to video games, otherwise you wouldn't check out youtube video about video games, especially about new ones. This is the equivalent of "I'm leaving Twitter for good this time!!!1!" Why is it impossible for us to make our own video games, though? We managed to create an industry that far surpassed any other in history, we managed to create classic games that can be enjoyed for dozens and dozens of generations in the future (akin to classical music and movies), why is it that after a greed + woke infestation, suddenly we can't do anything anymore except doom-posting? Let's find the talented game makers in our side, give them support and help rebuild video games. Because 90% of games are trash, doesn't mean we can't build the remaining 10% ourselves and make them great.

Gaming will be truly dead when even the passionate gamers completely leave and give up. In the end it's up to us to decide if we want to give video games another chance and create a new generations of actually good developers with good intents, or if we let them die (because we all know wokes and "The Modern Audience" actually don't care about video games at all). And yes, we should set our eyes on God and Christ, but if we can have video games honor Him (just like music, for instance), even if it's just one good game, I think it's worth trying.

@Neptas I do agree with you that Games can honor God. Just like something fantasy based, like LOTR can spur a man to virtue and towards logos. If games are to be saved or to retain any value, the emphasis ought to change from graphics and game engines to good philosophical discourse through the characters. For example, there must be an acknowledgment that evil exists. Relativism needs to die. I suppose a single solid title would go a long way in shifting things. Perhaps that's why we are denied even that.

I just want ports. Not remakes, not even remasters. I remember being super excited when the FFVII remake was announced. I had just played the original on PS3. I'll always remember that playthrough. Even then, in high school, playing a nearly 20 year old game, the original FFVII showed me things that I didn't know games could do, could be. I bought a PS4, anticipating the remake, but never ended up getting it. By 2020 or 2021, whenever it came out, I could tell it wasn't FFVII anymore. I loved the Spyro games on PS1 as a kid, and naively celebrated when the remakes were announced. The remakes ended up being ugly and soulless.

Do you mean the original on PS1? Because I don't recall FFVII being available on PS3 unless it was one of the PS1 Classics available for the platform.

“Of course this was back when Kojima was into biological women.” I’m never unsubscribing, this channel is perfect. I think the reason SH2 remake looks terrible and the MGS3 remake looks good so far is because MGS3 is being remade by actual Asians.

If we ever get out of the era of cultural vandalism and gaming goes back to how it used to be, I wonder how most people are gonna look back on this time period in history. Where everything related to gaming was just seething commie trash for about a decade or two. Hopefully, all this destructive madness will just be forgotten about and seen as an anomaly that occurred in the gaming industry never to be repeated again, like waking up from a nightmare. And then society can finally get back on track to producing things of value.

The only way for this cultural vandalism of entertainment to end is if the education department can be taken back, which has been overtaken by them for the past 70+ years. Which then leads to all forms entertainment (sports, gaming, music, Hollywood, etc..), and I just don't see that happening anytime soon. It will decades to weed out the professors, teachers, administrators, officials, etc... that use these institutions to produce followers from the youth to continue the cultural vandalism.

The worst part of the SH2 remake is that it's GOING to sell super well, guaranteed. Because people constantly praise SH2 as the best game in the series and one of the best horror games ever, and because the PS2 original is so retardedly expensive now, this shitty remake that totally undermines massive chunks of the narrative with it's visual overhaul is going to be the way most people play SH2. I genuinely think the awful unfinished HD collection port would be a better way to experience the REAL Silent Hill 2.

Shame, that skipping 90% of todays games is a norm for me, someone who loved videosgames since i was a little boy 30 years ago. Theres no creativity left in the industry, more like spite, greed and hate. Its either something youve played 100 times before, but somehow worse then games 10+ years ago, or filled to the brim with "micro"transactions focused on milking you dry, while the game is terrible at the same time, or it is a political propaganda. Gaming companies filled with beta simp cowards and feminist girlbosses. I still believe there are some individual game devs in all those companies that are actually talented and care about gaming - my dream is that they all would leave them and make their own studio.

Persona 3 Reloaded great game but they did replace the Based Beach "Joke" with some cringe unfunny one, In the Demon's Souls remake they clearly typed in the code like 30-40% of all common soldiers to have black/mullato skin tone (Its noticeable in the Iron Knight fight cut-scene 😂) on top of that if you compare to Elden Ring their faces look soy-ish almost fortnite levels of cartoonie, in Tomb Raider trilogy remastered they were forced to censor some spicy posters of Lara.

As for Silent Hill Remake - i dont remember it that much anymore, is this womans appearance change not in conflict with the story of the game? The dude had a sick wife and was stuck with her, so he had fantasies about a sexy woman - if you make her ugly, you interfere with the story. Who would fantasise about a man-jaw landwhale? xD

i played RE1 remake year ago and it has to be one of the best well done remake in modern era. They manage to save the style and pretty much everything good that made RE1 good in the first place.

2002 isn’t the modern era. But yes, it’s probably one of my favorite remakes.

Vicarious Visions did a good job here, both Tony Hawk and Diablo 2 remasters are pretty much exactly what they should be - visualy polished, but the same thing at the core. FF7 remake is like some sophisticated torture, delivering so many things spot on and then ruining key moments with unnecesary changes. Silent Hill 2 is such a delicate construction there is no way they won't mess it up.

They wokified the game, just in a more subtle manner. The sleight is still present.

@@malcontender6319What about Tony Hawk? I noticed more purple colors in that too, even though it’s supposed to be a throwback to the old Tony Hawk games on the PS1 and N64. It’s subtle, but there’s a noticeable undertone and sinister motive that was not in the originals.

I just wish all these franchises stayed dead. A "remake" is inherently disrespectful and wrong (the only exception being if the ORIGINAL TEAM does it, but even then you can argue it's pointless). I used to really like gaming, but now I feel nothing for its current state. Whatever, I have all the roms, the original hardware and emulation, as well as old PC games. I don't need their shit.

@@KratostheThird I've played Quake through countless times, it's definitely one of my favourite games. Weirdly enough I never really liked Duke3D though, even though I'm also a huge DOOM fan and I generally like BUILD games like Blood. In terms of FPS I can also highly recommend Unreal (1998), if you can somehow track it down, because Epic decided to absolutely remove their origins and their engine's namesake from existence.

Hey we are finally are getting a new 2d Zelda game…that looks like it will be ruined with botw style mechanics, awful art style and Zelda has replaced Link. Apparently everyone thinks Zelda should be the protagonist because “her name is in the title.” A wahman in a game exists, so she must have her own game. Since when do games have to have the title match the player character? Plenty of games are named something other than the playable character. They hate the fact that Link has saved Zelda so many times over the years, so what is the solution? Replace Link with Zelda and now she’s going to save him. Yeah ok. I can’t wait to watch the game flop.

i never minded there being a zelda/sheik game (doesn't mean link is or should be completely replaced in the new games) and i definitely would have loved the old peach game if i knew of it's existence doesn't mean i despise mario though there's a place for both

So what about the fans who have been playing Zelda for thirty years and don’t want to play as anyone other than Link, screw them? I’ve been waiting since Minish Cap for a new, completely original 2d Zelda game and now Link won’t be in it. What if Nintendo replaced Samus with Adam in Prime 4, you think Metroid fans be cool with that? I wouldn’t want Samus to be replaced. Most people who have actually played these games and enjoyed them, don’t want their legacy characters replaced.

Careful though with the motivation-demotivation seesaw. Your videos struck me as becoming of a light for the way forward, not of the type who's here to milk the situation.

Hate the fact that they skipped Silent Hill 1 to remake 2, obviously a cynical decision made because one is more popular than the other. On top of that they hire a company with a bad reputation to remake the game and waste money on consultants who tell them what to remove. It’s been 20 years and somehow the industry is more restricted than its ever been, instead of a remakes we get rewrites

Black Mesa (aside from REmake 1) remains my gold standard for a from the ground up remake, but notice with Black Mesa? It was a labor of love by Valve employees in their spare time and initially, it was free game! Sure, they are charging for it now, but the missing Xen levels is in the retail release so I feel its an acceptable tradeoff. By the way, if there are any fellow S.T.A.L.K.E.R. fans here, check out Lost Alpha, a fan game using the original build of Shadow of Chernobyl free to play with GSCgameworld's blessing.

You have remasters, remakes and a reimagining. Remasters are using the same engine and game base and enhancing it. Remakes are a ground up reaction. Reimaginings are usually remakes with a new direction. The re4 remake in my opinion is a reimagining, re1 remake is a remake

Been seeing alot of fromsoft fans call for it but I genuinely hope Playstation leaves Bloodborne alone. Bluepoint ruined Demon's Souls art design and proved nobody in game development rn understands what makes those games special but FS. I really think it's just people who have never played the games calling for remakes nowadays because they see how much reverence the original gets online.

I am only interested in rebuilds. Not interested in remakes and not so much in remasters. I want a rebuild which Demon Souls and persona 3 are good examples of. I suspect sometime in my lifetime AI will be able to remake games on the fly to my own specifications. Edit: interesting notes on DS. I hate FF7 “remake”.

I knew the SH2 remake was going to be bad as soon as the news broke. First of all, SH2 does not need a remake. And, even if it did, why wouldn't Konami remake the first one to start? Bloober Team is just horrible. And I'm sorry -- I know it's mean spirited -- but a bunch of dumb Polacks have no business working on a SH game. I knew based on their past work they were going to do this. I knew it was going to have ugly characters and that generic unreal engine look, with RE2 remake mechanics. I remember back in 2012, Konami released 4 abysmal Silent Hill pieces of media: Downpour, Book of Memories, HD Collection and that 0/10 POS "movie" (Revelations, which looked worse than even the 2006 movie.) They've had over a decade to get their act together, and just like in 2012, they've put out several pieces of trash in a short time: Ascension, Short Message, and the forthcoming SH2 remake we know will suck as well as another movie from that idiot who directed the first one. Isn't it ironic that SH was created because of the success of Resident Evil. But after the phenomenon of P.T. -- Capcom copied P.T. for RE7 and 8. And now Konami is back to copying Capcom? All we really needed was an announcement for ONE game: a mainline entry developed internally at Konami, with as many members of the original teams involved, namely the artists and designers. And along with that just a proper HD collection of the original 4. The only remake that would work is a RE1-style remake of the first SH.

@@KratostheThird yes. I knew that game would be bullshit too. GOG is the only good video game related thing I’ve seen from them. In general, I haven’t seen really good games come out of Europe. Ubisoft is trash as well as many others. Remember, Konami did this before too. Downpour was developed by some BS studio in Czech Republic.

@@KratostheThird In terms of video games, Europe's always been kind of weird and the last market anyone in the industry cared about. Their video game industry is not well-established too. They have weird technical standards as well -- from refesh rates -- to even the voltage rating for consoles (240v instead of 100-120v like Japan or America.. wtf!?) And a lot of countries like Germany and the UK have absurd censorship, so various games are either heavily censored, not released or unpopular. Europe is one of the worst places to be a gamer, behind only Russia or China, lol. Their tastes are weird too, for ex, in the early 90s apparently the Amiga was the real popular system. wtf...

A remake that changes a lot about the original isn't necessarily bad. The famous 80s scarface movie changed a lot about the old movie it remade, but was still great. But a different term for it might be required

What makes Ptolemy charming is he isn't content slop with a new video every week. He's well spoken & quite funny in some ways. It's a precious thing to get that ~monthly video from Ptolemy. Synthetic Man is good, I wish he'd do a couple things differently to improve his content but it is what it is. @ricardoojeda2963 - Maybe you feel that way, but he pisses off the right people. Other ecelebs have taken a slight notice of Synthler. I wish he'd improve his content in certain ways but he's authentic (except hamming up _some_ of his rants) and an important opposing voice.
