In my experience that style of button compass actually works pretty good

This little kit feels like a fish & cook component to add to a survival kit. Hence the small square of foil and the firestarter. It is a good way to carry spare paracord. I think I would add extra hooks and a Beetle-Spin. In my experience few fish can resist a Beetle-Spin just dragged against a current.

I've never been a fan of premade kits. They're usually about 90% garbage. But I do enjoy seeing them.
