But it's more. It is a metaphor for Gosling to cast his wienie Ken self and reach for the Paprus and become fluent in ancient Egyptian. I am sure of this as I am doing the same thing and have been since I saw the first Avatar. I still cry when I think of those blue skinned goofballs.

As soon as I heard Ryan was coming back to host SNL, I knew Papyrus 2 was coming. It's even better than I imagined. This is a piece of art.
The angled camera slowly zooming on his face, as he realizes "He just put it in bold.", is SO perfect and well done to the fact that it got the biggest laugh out of me for this skit.

LOL it was, but also disturbing. If you've ever experienced visual artifacts or needed a med like ziprasidone, then I'm sure someone else did what I did for a sec, which was to feel a slight panic tingle feeling and go "wait, am I???? oh, the show's doing that" *whew*" They were very clever about making the words slide across your periphery, that's how it feels irl sometimes, seriously.

Sure, but those were examples from real life. Have you never seen the sandwich board for a legitimate massage place? A juice bar? A meditation center? How about their flyers? Papyrus is used on menus in small cafés and mom-and pop restaurants all over the country. I must run into it at least once a week, in print.🤗🫶🏻🫶🏻💋

I started to think I was the only person in this comment section (and the comment section of the first Papyrus) that thought of Undertale. It was so weird seeing people talking about Papyrus, Comic Sans, and Wingdings and meaning fonts.
I’ve learned so much about this series….mainly the freakin crazy attention to detail people have.

I mean, the performance is good. The color-grading and ligthing are legit like a real movie. However, the plot and writing are kind of weak to be honest. I watched the Beavis & Butthead sketch before this one, and I didn't think that was all that funny either. I used to love SNL. I watched it all the time when Will Ferrell, Darrel Hammond, Tim Meadows, Maya Rudolph, Jimmy Falon, and Tina Fey were part of the cast

OH MY GOD! This is by far the best sketch and it surpasses its first part. Ryan Goslin you are the best. Keep it up boy, NEVER CHANGE!
This, along with the Beavis and Butthead skit, is one of the best SNL sketches I've seen in ages. Well done, well done. Oh, and Ryan absolutely crushed it.

That's one of THE BEST skits I've ever seen. Ryan Gosling is a natural comedy actor worthy of a damn oscar in this one!

5:51 In 6th grade (Elementary School not Middle School), I used Papyrus font for my Ancient Egypt essay report. I burnt the edges and stained it with tea bags to give it that "old timey feel." The sensation of being called out for something I did 20 years ago. Thinking I was an artistic history nerd, but alas I was unoriginal.

This is all just an amazingly well done bit of film. Just think of all the time and effort they invested in this. And no one has really mentioned the special effects for the alien giving humans the Papyrus font.. Not "funny" like the first sketch, much beyond just the humorous gag.

They literally can't afford them. SNL famously pays in fame, which you can use to get other gigs. I'm just glad they've hosted as much as they have, as they absolutely kill.

@@seg1912 yea but his intentions were pure. He did everything he did to protect someone he cared about. but yea, combine this sketch and what he did in Drive, The Place Between Two Pines, Blade Runner, and Only God Forgives and Ryan could easily play a villain or serial killer type character.

@@zzpazi Yeah, it's "The _ay of Steven," whatever that means. The blank space is for the Greek letter sigma, which isn't part of Wingdings, so I'm not sure. Maybe "The Day of Steven" or "The Way of Steven"? Nothing else makes much sense but I have no idea what it means lol.

Whats even better is that the original was an EXACT thought I had when they originally released "Avatar". I couldn't believe they just used Papyrus. But when I saw the Avatar 2 logo I thought they legitimately changed it. So for all this time I'm like "Ryan Gosling would be proud". Only to find out that it's actually Papyrus in bold. Life changing.
