WOW, Aust ref did not call out the many tackling infringements by Fijian players n also failing to maintain their 5 yards, is this Australian prejudice against PNG as always n help Fiji to win as they’ve always been doing to PNG over the yrs??? NRL commentators clearly want Fiji to win so bias

I am very encouraged by Gus' comments...he seemed most appreciative of the level of game nous, skills and competitiveness of the Kumuls...he should be on the bidding team for our NRL team campaign, in some sort of capacity.

What a performance by PNG! So physical, very few mistakes, an capitalized on their opportunities. After the 1st 25 minutes, Fiji really fell off! Too many errors, no chemistry, and looked leggy. Fiji need to find someone else to do their kicking. Was a key difference between the 2 sides. PNG just wore them down! Solid victory!

I feel so proud being Fijian and Torres strait Islander as well as Aboriginal Australian Jamaican Scottish Welsh Malaysian South sea islander but this game as a Qld Mackay born footy fan just feels so good png and fiji should have a team if they're looking for even more expansion after dolphins 🤷🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️✊🏾✊🏾🖤🖤

Give PNG a NRL team

Lots and lots of PNG Players have talent to be in either Kumul or Hunters. The ANRL should look at recruiting some of these players to play for their feeder clubs. The NRL club that consists of 25% of PNG players in a team and on the field would definitely produce very competitive result. The PNGNRL Mangement should look at aggressively marketing its players overseas and make it a condition that all PNG internationals must always return to play for Kumul in every representative game. This is the way for PNG to topple the rugby league on international scene.

We have raw talent but didn't have a pathway to the nrl until the hunters and you can see the improvement. One good thing in Fiji is they have good junior rugby union comps. A lot of them also grow up in Australia.

Fiji just lacking halves which is the strength of the Kumuls...

What a performance by the Kumuls, so proud of the lads especially the boys coming up from the Qld Cup. A fitting farewell for our Kumul King David Mead. The boys had Kikau under lock & key for 80 minutes straight up. Well done all round including the coach and supporting team also. Tough, brutal and heavy contact rugby league at its best, PNG never disappoints.. Can't wait for the World Cup.. Go the Kumuls

Fiji blew too many try scoring opportunities despite good gains and only needed to be more patient. Props to PNG for staying composed and getting the win.

Fiji should have moved the ball instead of trying to outmuscle the Kumuls. At least now the Batis know they need good halves come the World Cup. P.S. why Nixon Putt hasn't got even a single train-and-trial contract with an NRL team, I don't know. He plays at a high intensity, hits hard, tackles hard, and runs hard for the entire 80 minutes.

Kumuls all playing in Australia & England now…much improved quality. I think we should watch the holding down/discipline & do more 2nd man plays. This was good but on 2nd watch it was more of a slugfest. Kumuls scored on broken plays & momentum - Fiji kept attacking & siezed opportunities.

But laybutt just kept tackling and never run at them.😂if I'm correct, right in the last minutes.. he got a pass, and he got a taste..if it's correct 😂we don't judge on 1 night game..but laybutt played well.

@@simionenauluvula7981 your point is useless, Laybutt's a half, the difference is they are bigger and look stronger but we're the opposite on the field, they couldn't do anything on the field, have in mind they are two of the toughest blokes in the NRL, or as they say they are, yet crushed by the likes of a second tier half like laybutt. You should go and watch more of Laybutt's game, the bloke is tough as nails and is a better defender than most of NRL halves.

Lambutt just popped up in 1 night and you guys jumping up and down like he's the most feared man that night. The point is, png kumuls played great that night.. whilst Fiji bati not played above expactaions.. if you see closely...most NRL players in Fiji bati doesn't performed 100%... They maybe thinking about their next assignment with their nrl clubs games remaining without committing injuries..we all know when kikaus and sivo and others played above their strength..lambutt and who you boasting will be like piece of paper throwing around in the park easily like that.. but we played with mind games.. it's just a test match..majority of the kumuls players played below 1st Division NRL comp.. that's why they performed great. Hard to pick 1 outstanding player from PNG. Whole team was really good. Fiji never gave an inch either. Would’ve been closer with good halves for Fiji or PNG score a few more if ref calls go their way.

Unsurprising that the PNG halves outplayed their Fijian counterparts, the Bati were sorely missing wakeham here who was on suspension. On a positive note it's good to see Turuva rising through the ranks from the Silktails through to the panthers system paying off with that performance in a losing effort. At least the Fiji boys will get their key players at 6, 7, and 9 in time for the world cup.

Fijians are technically Polynesian by blood. Their customs and chiefly systems are that of Polynesia even though they look Melanesian. Fijians are related to Samoa and Tonga by blood from its chiefs and its people as well including language similarities. These three Polynesian islands don't chew beetle nut where they do all over Melanesia. So technically we just witness Polynesia vs Melanesia. Fiji should sack its coach and hire someone who knows how to pick the right players. In my books, the likes of Naiqama, lovodua etc etc should not be playing games such as these. There don't have the right physics for it. Results speaks loudest where there playing. The likes of Kikau, Siva and Kamikamica etc should be taught how to play with stamina which fiji lacks.
