That GI try at the death was just the perfect way to end it. Tears from him and Sam Burgess minutes before and then to finish like that, a magic was to end a truly epic day.

As a kid who grew up in the Super League war, marching through the streets of Sydney as a 5 year old against the "evil empire" and their decision that South Sydney had no place in the year 2000 and 2001 competitions, this was absolute vindication for all of us. I broke down in tears when we pulled clear even though I have a soft spot for the Doggies and attended many of their games for several years with my cousins who were blue and white. Something that gets lost in the fold of this moment is the contribution of the entire rugby league world supporting Souths during our fightback. For every Rabbitoh that fought for our return, there were Easts, Norths, Wests, Balmain, Manly, St George, Illawarra, Parramatta, Canterbury, Cronulla, Penrith and just about every other clubs fans marching with us. If those in charge in the late 90s had their way, we'd all have been robbed of this moment. Dreams come true after all.

Bless the Teams that stayed loyal to the NSWRL during that war.. I've always been a Rooster thru n thru since 1971 but we supported the Bunnies getting back into the Comp where they always belonged, it wasn't right what happened and yes we beat the Murdoch scam, I had a few mates back in the 70's n 80's who loved the bunnies, It was good to see the people beat the cashed up mongrels who almost brought the NSWRL/ARL to its knees. I never watched the super league Games as a personal protest.. Yet we, The Bunnies n Easts hate each other on the field with a passion to this day, Funny really.. Long live the NRL
Although I'm a Bulldogs supporter I was actually happy for the Rabbitohs 43 years is a longtime to wait for another premiership they deserved it.

I’m proud to be a loyal Rugby League fan as well a Newcastle Knights supporter. I have lots of love and respect and support for every Team in the NRL competition.
Man do I remember this game, I was at this game, one of the best games I’ve ever watched live
This is a once in a lifetime team ,watching them walk out of tunnel led out by a local maroubra boy John Sutton behind him an all time great in Greg Inglis and behind him probably one of the best poms to ever apply his trade down under in sam burgess and behind him another local boy south Sydney through in through Adam reynolds I could rewatch this grand final in 25 years and still get the same proud feeling🐇🐇
This south’s team beats the Penrith team now and the fans and the build up to the game was unbelievable and 2014 and 2015 gf are the best ever
Not a Rabbitohs fan but I just want to say RIP Kyle Turner I didn't know who he was until his death 🙏❤️

Bulldogs had a great run through the semis causing some big upsets but were just no match for Souths. Rabbitohs were on a mission that year after back to back prelim losses. They were like a runaway train.

And now Alex Johnston is the highest scoring Rabbitohs. beating Nathan Merritt. He has made history.

The sad thing about this was, that Merritt's legs couldn't carry him just a few more months. AJ taking Merritt's spot was the final piece of the puzzle and helped the team over the line and I'm happy for him but geez it would have been amazing for a man who had been there and seen the dark days to have been a part of this match. I mean yes he went to cronulla briefly but he was there for about 2 dozen games when the team was garbage and came back in a year Souths won the spoon.

I commend your loyalty to and your passion for your team but there was more to the build up and emotional release for this win other than 'team a hasn't won the gf in x years.' Also yes Parra did have some years near the bottom but not as long as and as consistently as Souths did and Parra fans didn't have to deal with the whole being kicked out of the comp thing. No doubt when your boys do win, it will be a huge reaction and I'd rather Parra than the Panthers for sure but it'll stop short of this reaction, just because of all the extra circumstances and emotion going into this very moment.
