Quo didn't do lead guitar, that's 1 of the things that made their sound different. I grew with them, other heavy rock bands made a big feature of lead guitar, & sometimes keyboards & drum solos, Quo didn't, and for many at the time it was a big attraction.

Sadly with Ricky and Alan now dead and John hanging up his drumsticks this year, the real spirit of Quo is really no more. Francis seems to have his own ideas as to what Quo is/are so let's see what happens. But nothing is forever and at 65 myself I know that only too well!

ALAN CHARLES LANCASTER otherwise known as NUFF, has passed away in Sydney, his home for 45 years. The founding member and the backbone of STATUS QUO had been suffering from Multiple Sclerosis for many years. Alan battled on bravely, performing at QUO's Reunion gigs in 2013 and 2014. Even though he had MS, Alan's performance and his vocals were the strongest of the three. My favourite member of QUO is Alan Lancaster. I had the pleasure of having a beer and a smoke with Alan at a Sydney pub gig, in Five Dock, when he had The Lancaster Bombers and The Lancaster/Brewster Bands in the late 80's. We had a longer chat at The Lewisham Hotel as well. These were dirty, grungy hotels, though this didn't phase the great man of the people. Alan was the most beautifil man, very humble, down to earth and a great guy to talk with and have a laugh. Vale Alan ( Nuff ) Lancaster RIP mate, you were one of the greatest Rockers of all time.

I was only 10 yrs young in 1971, though I heard that QUO blew SLADE off stage at The Randwick Racecourse in Sydney. It's a very brave band that follows THE QUO on stage. QUEEN are a pretentious and pompous cabaret act, so QUO have supported those twats many times. They are also good friends. " Tie Your Mother Down ' is QUEEN's best song and coincidentally it is a very QUO sounding song. LOL!!!!!!!!! QUO supported DEEP PURPLE in 2006 in Sydney, no prizes for guessing who the better band was that night. I do love SLADE and PURPLE very much.

This is a brutal straight in your face heavy rocker from Quo! Heard it a thousand times - will hear it another 1000 ones! It's a song like "Paper Plane" what Quo is all about for me. Remember buying the Piledriver album in the early 1980ies. Almost 10 years after its release. Stunning cover with them standing and banging like hell. Later on i talked to guys who saw them live on stage in the early/mid 1970ies. We all totally freaked out - they told me. Those were the days. I was totally freaking out as a young boy after i got in contact with them by the release of the "Whatever you want" album back in 1979. Couldn' get enough "from the makers of....."! Greetings from germany.

I was. Happy listening and greetings from England.

JC could've made a career as a shotputter/javelin thrower. I've played bass in a band like that, standing next to the drummer. The 2 guitarists were having fun headbanging away at the front while me n Danny the Drums were sweating away, gritted teeth, building new muscles. At the end of each song we'd look at eachother & say something that rhymed with Hucking Fell.

Music took a noticeable downhill turn when dancing came to be such a major part of the presentation, by the time it had also developed into performing soft porn at the same time, real music was dead.

I spotted Rick Parfitt when I was locking up my bike in Kingston town centre years ago. I looked up, instantly recognised him and he clearly gave off that he could tell I was thinking "hmm, aint you Rick Parfitt" but looked knackered and gave me the "please leave me alone" look ...so I did. A fleeting but never forgotten encounter

First saw the 'boys' in 1977/78 got hooked, stayed with them all the way in every configuration of line ups, till this day, I've seen lots of the big bands over the years, yes there are more technically gifted artists around, but for me, Quo are probably the greatest most genuine hard playing rock n roll boogie bands in the land and boy you don't half know you have been to one of their gigs. In the 70's I think they were also one of the loudest bands. I'm now 56 years old and still play them almost daily. A proper band. 👌

1974 Quo came to the Isle of Man, me 13 years old and a couple of my school mates had tickets. Arrived at the venue, Palace Lido , to be told ! You boys need to go upstairs on the balcony, Yes Sir! NOT! Down the front of the stage , Rick Parfitt gave me a nod, I’m not sure he seen anyone that young admiring him. Never to be forgotten! Thanks Rick and the rest of Quo!

Right on Nick!!!!!!! They put a smile on my face when I'm down and depressed. I'm in Australia so i haven't had the chance to see them 150 times. At age 17, I luckily saw The Frantic Four at The Hordern Pavilion in Sydney in June 1978. I've seen them every time since 1997, sometimes twice on the one tour. I'm a complicated person and I love the no-nonsense approach QUO have taken to Rock n Roll. I love them with an intense passion.

Masterpiece of the understated, many came along later on and unknowingly copied the formula but Quo were first and never bettered. One day they will get the credit they deserve, and Rick would of just giggled like he did and said he already knew..... This is the blue print of the 3 or 4 chord noise that became punk in the late 70s and the Quo invented it. Face it, they are fuckin awesome ...

Please please please help me out here. In 1976 in New Zealand just before Status QUo played Auckland, there was a TV show called Gizago that had a special on Quo to promote the tour. THey played Rain, Mystery Song, Dont waste my time and Paper Plane (This song) from the Marquee. HOWEVER, they also played Roadhouse Blues live from The Marquee. I have never seen it since, and would love to see it again. I also hear from someone in Ireland seeing Bye Bye Johnny from the Marquee on TV. Surely there must be someone, somewhere with a video (s) of these totally unbelievable songs.
