Did people complain with the SMRPG remake? I get that there are always annoying doomers who trash things before they even come out, but I thought that particular soundtrack was universally well received. The Mario&Luigi remakes definitely got mixed reviews on the soundtrack though. Not completely unjustified imo, but some tracks (especially Joke's End lmao) were a definitive improvement and we even got some brand new battle themes for enemies that previously used the generic one. We'll see when it comes out.

The same thing also happened with Mario 64 DS, the game was so different from the original that people complained about not being faithful to the original and that's why we don't have a remake, well cough cough 3D there Star cough cough And not only with Mario, but also with Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, people were crying out for a remake and when it was announced and came out, people hated it a lot since the game was just like the original and considering the worst remake of Pokémon (even though the game was good, it sold a lot and I enjoyed it a lot but we already know how conformist Pokémon fans are) I hope people don't complain again about a change in a remake Nintendo is giving a lot of importance to paper Mario a thousand years door

The people who'd complain about the remake being low effort aren't the same people who'd complain about the art direction and music. Plus, this sorta thing happens with every remake. Even when it had its moments, I prefer that the only thing kept from these games are the artstyle , some jokes and the music (well, the overworld of TOK was very good, actually) for now on. So I really want to see this game, which is in part what I mentioned to succeed.

There's a side of me that argues this could have been a launch title for the next console, and it's a shame that they had to make a compromise and potentially alienate anyone on the outside that is interested but not yet involved in the Paper Mario series. They do not know the turmoil the community has been through lately, but they also shouldn't be held liable for a decision made on the dev side. At the same time, I understand that the devs wanted to ride out the last bit of the Mario wave since the movie, and I'd be lying if I said I'd be willing to hold out for longer than the 20 years that have already passed to finally get to play TTYD on console again.

The toxic fans can suffer while I buy a copy and enjoy this masterful remake.

What is WRONG with some people? We asked for the remake of Paper Mario TTYD for the switch and that’s exactly what we’re getting. Paper Mario going back to its RPG roots as it used to be is the number one step of improving. They need to stop complaining over something small.

I personally wont mind about people criticising the game, they are on right of doing so. What I personally care is the people who admited (and even encourage to do so) to going to pirate the game in order to "give a message". Little they know they arent gonna get the result they expected, and the only message devs are gonna get is going to be "We prefer TOK over TTYD, hence why had more copys sold"

I haven't played this game either. And, by the same token, I haven't played ANY of the Paper Mario games. And now that I'm playing the original Paper Mario for the N64 to prepare for TTYD, I keep asking myself... How the heck did sleep on this series?? And over the years, whenever a Nintendo Direct was shown, I always see people in the comments section talking about and wishing for the a remaster of TTYD and how it was the best game in the Paper Mario series and all that. And when the trailer for this game dropped last year in September, I've seen people scream excitedly at the top of their lungs. I've seen people cry out of happiness. And I got excited because, finally, the game that was so talked about and loved so much, I'll finally get to play it. And now, we are SO close to release time for TTYD...AND PEOPLE ARE COMPLAINING??? Why, why, WHY??? We should he excited! We should be happy! And people are whining about the small things like lower frame rate, dialogue changes, etc. It makes me feel embarrassed as a Nintendo fan and just a gaming fan in general that these people are making complaints about something that they have been asking for (for years) and we're finally getting it.

@@CaseyNoK I agree with you I've been trying to get my hands on this game since i played the 64 version on the switch and couldn't get it on dolphin because they forced you into getting all these useless apps to complete certain steps to get dolphin and it's like no just let me get the app i just want to play ttyd and now i can with the remake so i'm excited. It's annoying to see all these useless complaints about frame rate, and the remade soundtrack the Only thing that i can see to complain about is the lack of new content like a boss rush or a true post game even if they don't add those new features i'm still not gonna complain i'm still going to enjoy it and stuff, i'll just wish they added something actually new to the game is all imo.

Believe it or not, the gamecube's frame rate was at 60 compared to 30 on the switch console. And while they did update the aesthetics and look of it to be more akin to the origami king look, everything else is pretty much the same but just re-released on the switch instead of the gamecube.

@@SuperFlashDriver Yea i know it makes sense to have less frame rates because of how much details they put into how the game looks it makes sense that they would drop some of the frame rates, and if it's still playable i really don't see what the big deal is imo.

One bizarre complaint I've seen that annoys me is people crying "censorship" and trying to turn things political just because they changed the dialogue in a few places and the Japanese version apparently now also has Catgirl Boos instead of the Playboy Bunny ones from the original Japanese version, as if catgirls aren't way more popular in every way including THAT one these days. Heck, there might even be a chance that we get Vivian UN-censored considering parts of Beldam's dialogue have clearly been re-translated. I think the reason why this annoys me is because a lot of the people who cry censorship when some generic side Goomba's dialogue might be less mildly sexist in the remake are the same ones who would prefer for Vivian to stay in the closet. Like, which one is it? Do we want them to tell the story "as it was originally written" or not?

Honestly, this remake looks amazing regardless of how much fps it's got. I think this is gonna be one of the best remakes of an awesome classic alongside the super mario rpg remake. These fps trolls are being totally unreasonable to this remake.

I can't wait to buy this game on switch this time. It brings me back my childhood.

I always get annoy when folks say that if a game doesn't have 60+ FPS it's trash. Not every game needs to be in such a high frame rate. This isn't a fighting game where every button input or frame will matter if you win the fight, get the combos, or break the combo you're in. This is a turn base RPG with simple button pressing to defeat your foes. I'm happy to see this remake and I ain't complaining one bit.

A unicorn appears after a long time, and people are saying its horn isn't "elegant" and long enough. A drought ended, and the water tastes funny. That's what these nagging comments boil down to. Maybe down the line we'll get 60 fps supported on a new console, but that depends on how successful this initial wave is. As Paper Mario fans we have an obligation to tell Nintendo what we want for the sake of having more Mario games with solid rpg elements down the line. The M&L series didn't die for you to pull out because of some arbitrary reason like a few changed lines when the first Gamecube release in the west also had some localization done. Whoever pulls put the censorship card now is a faker.

by the way, i will be a contrarian and say it is actually a good thing that this paper mario remake runs at 30fps. the switch can be played on the go, and if the game ran at 60fps, it would draw more power and generate more heat. the last thing nintendo wants is to hear complaints that the game runs too hot or that the switch battery doesn't last very long when playing this game.

​@@Serilaene the difference here is that the switch runs on an almost decade old processor (the Tegra X1 was introduced way back in 2015), while the Steam Deck runs on a modern AMD Zen 2 cpu that was released in November of 2023. The switch is simply not powerful nor power-efficient enough to be able to handle 60 fps like a steam deck. The Steam deck is also more expensive, at $550+ versus the switch oled's $350. Nintendo wanted the console to be as affordable as possible so they cut a few corners (although their choice of cpu is certainly questionable)

Don't know about wrestling fans but NASCAR fans since I've been a fan complain a lot, back when I was a kid I thought it was just stupid old people griping for fun, but they've actually changed it so much I barely even like it anymore.

Let's face it, the Switch is not a powerful console on many, many means. It's main goal was to be a portable console, that you could also play on a TV screen. It would take way too much time optimising the new engine's code to run on 60 FPS on the switch without stuttering or draining the battery. An ARM-based system is nowhere near the level of a PowerPC (except the fact they both use RISC).

I’m disappointed that TEC’s eye isn’t still blue like it was in the original English version and I’m still buying the game, a few nitpicks and a lower frame rate is not remotely enough to make this a bad or lazy remake. The nerve of these people, still unhappy even after all Nintendo’s done…

I’m telling you, as weird as it sound Paper Mario Sticker Star was the that introduced me to the paper Mario series, but if there’s anything that discourage me from being a fan it will be the actual fan base itself.

This usually happens with a remaster or remake. People want the game to return and say they would even take it with no changes and somehow they get mad about it. Idc I just wanna play this game.

Guarantee those people will still buy the game. If it’s such a big deal to them, they should speak with their wallets and not buy the game. Nintendo is a company. Making money is a huge priority for them obviously. Which is why I hope this game sells very well. If it does, maybe we’ll see brand new Paper Mario titles that return to the same style of gameplay that made Paper Mario and TTYD so beloved.

With the title calling people who complain "Ridiculous" and all. Why is it seen as bad for people to voice their opinion? Everyone in this comment section is like "Omg these people complaining are such babies. You got what you want and you still complain. Paper Mario fans are so toxic." People complain about everything. I'm sure a lot more people are grateful this exists at all. I feel like getting upset about people complaining is sorta hypocritical. I still feel the video paints people who are complaining in a bad light but that's just a matter of perspective and I doubt anyone else will feel the same way. Still, this complaining is not exclusive to Paper Mario. This happens with EVERY remake. No remake is going to satisfy everyone and there's always gonna be those vocal who complain. I don't really see the point in making a video about it as if it's unique to this series.

Honestly Paper Mario has the best graphics in any Paper Mario game ever. And for a game on the Switch, I can understand if it’s 30fps. And that is completely fine. I can’t wait to play this game for the first time though😊

Personally, I am very excited for Paper Mario TTYD. It is my favorite Paper Mario game, and I have a lot of great memories of this game. The fact we are getting a remake of it on the Switch is like a dream come true. There's literally no other way to explain it. I pre-ordered it a while back and I can not wait to get it in hand and play it. I have a feeling that TTYD will become my #1 favorite game on the Switch, just like how it was my #1 favorite on the GameCube.

People who complain that there are no stickers DISGUST me.

I really hope this is just the loud minority talking. I am so hyped for this game and pre ordered it the second it came out. if these people complaining about this game and not buying it because of freaking 30FPS and this games fails I will never forgive them. In my personal opinion I hope Elon burns twitter to the ground so we don't need to deal with the most toxic side of the internet ever again.

To be honest the only think I complain about is the 30fps cap. A good remake should make a lot of things better but not worse. 30fps for a remake where the original ran at 60fps is like giving us better quality for less performence. But I'll still buy it.

For someone that never got the chance to play the original, I am 99% PUMPED to play this game! I am sure it will be amazing, but the remaining 1% I am not excited for, is the fact that it looks like they will represent Vivian as transgender, like the original Japanese release. This should not be in a game rated E!

Mon facts already covered this, Nintendo UK is stating Vivian is a sister questioning where her allegiances lie...nothing about transgender...also a Spanish image leaked of her Bedlam saying they were the 3 shadow relation withheld because it sounded less threatening than sisters, so most likely no trans Vivian.

I also agree, shouldn't be in an E rated game, but from what I've seen they're erasing it, it was only in the Italian and original Spanish translations, wasn't even in the Japanese version...Bedlam only called Vivian a man out of jealousy to insult her.

I actually had to put out a small little video to show how stupid the 30 FPS complaints are. If I can first-try 100 power bounce an enemy in Paper Mario, which runs at that scary 30 FPS people are going on about: Come on, you can do simple jump and hammer commands just fine.

I don't think many of these people know boss battles have a fixed cap on how many jumps you can make either, usually around 5 or 6

Most other enemies, generally not bosses, the cap is pretty ridiculous: 10,000 bounces, but you'll never see that since power bounces become frame perfect around the 6th bounce or so. Best you'll likely see is 7 bounces before you miss the timing. You can get an extra bounce or two easily using Simplifier badges, but the cons outweigh the pros imo since guard commands don't get loosened much and you reduce your general SP gain.

People just complain about every small details in every remake/remasters about everything they see the like "the music flout out suck it doesn't sound as the og one the graphics are way to shiny" just sut up people and expect what you getting

I think the complaints are more "rougeport looks too clean" or "the floor looks way too shiny for a slum

theres some sort of "law" (ala Murphy's Law) that says people will always find something to complain about

You know I prefer the original rogueport music... good thing it's still in the game Edit: Actually I'm thinking same with pedal medows ... The OG music seems 'snappier' or 'more boppable' if I may where as the new music for both songs seems a bit more 'laid back' (other than the pedal medows ending portion) Again it's a good thing I can listen to the old music whenever I want (and have a different version when I want it too)

The music for Rogueport is the only song I’d probably prefer the original, but even then it’s not a bad remix at all. It’s a great song and I love the way it incorporates TOK’s musical style since I love the soundtrack of that game. It just feels like the OG sells a bit more of the sketchy nature of the place. Again I’m not hating on the new song, just thematic preference. Probably still won’t use the badge since all the other songs are fire remixes

Having played the first game on NSO and liked it for the most part, I guess I’m excited for this one. But slightly worried that I might get stuck or stumped somewhere in the game and not be able or figure out how to move on if I do buy it.

3:42 TBF Rogueport is literally supposed to be infested with Criminals. When were Gang Members that spray painted everything known for there Cleanliness? 4:03 Seeing the Images on screen made me remember something. There was never any explanation as to just WHY the Devs had Zess T block you from entering the West Side of Town until after Chapter 1? Outside of the Pianta Parlor, the Lottery and the Shop there wasn't anything you could do there then so why block it off?

They probably did it to keep Rougeport interesting, similar to what they did by keeping Toad Town's south side blocked off in the original Paper Mario. It's to help keep up interest and to have more powerful items locked away until later on and not stumble into harder areas by accident.

I admit, the first time I noticed how shiny the ground and floors are, I wasn't the biggest fan of it, especially after playing the original TTYD many times over the years. I didn't hate it but after being so used to the original game, it just felt a bit off. But the more I've seen it in more of the trailers and gameplay videos, I started warming up to it and now I think it looks beautiful, especially the ground in the Boggly Woods. I can't wait to play the remake!

I'm so hyped for this remake. I hope sales are insane the first week to really show Nintendo we want the direction to go back to this way.

Am I a ridiculous Paper Mario fan if the Only Paper Mario games what I've played are Paper Mario on Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pass, Color Splash on Wii U, Sticker Star on 3DS and Origami King on Switch, but I've never played Paper Mario The Thousand-Year Door on Gamecube and Super Paper Mario on Wii, so it's really awesome there is coming Paper Mario The Thousand-Year Door HD Remake soon in may 24 can't wait i'm so excited for it 1 of my the most Expected Remakes in 2024 with Luigi's Mansion 2, Monster Hunter 1, Epic Mickey and Sonic x Shadow Generations Remakes. Am I weird if my favourite Paper Mario games are Sticker Star and Origami King? After playing The Thousand-Year Door HD Remake what I believe works as a 30 or even a 60fps on Switch, The Thousand-Year Door will maybe be my favourite Paper Mario game, but Origami King will always be near of my heart. I want to believe and hope Nintendo is making Remakes of Super Paper Mario for Switch someday. Paper Mario games are awesome, love Paper Mario defienitily Sticker Star and Origami King. 😊❤

I hear them on the music. It's just a preference but I prefer the original versions over the remixed ones. The original just has more 'punch' still. But since we can choose either it's a non-issue. No need to make it a real complaint.
