We got really invested in this music video. The lyrics are so powerful and the beat is amazing! Stromae FTW!

Stromae lost his father to the Rwandan genocide in 1994, when Stromae was only 9 years old. The song becomes every emotional when he presents it live on stage, you can hear in his voice that he's about to crumble almost every time.

Hes truly master. The beat and video doesnt fit the lyrics at all. Its very upbeat but if you understand what he says, it completely doesnt fit. I believe its his view on the modern dating scene with all the hookups/single moms combined with losing your father in wars. Basically its about not having a father (not both parents, it also applies to not having a mother). Comes from him losing father when he was young.

Where are you dad? Where are you? In the music clip the small guy is the singer when he was young and asked many times .... papaoutai... dad where are you? The "doll" is his father he imagined because the singer's father went missing in a war during his early childhood. The singer subsequently fled to Belgium with his mother as a 9 year old. The song is a tribute to his father whom he never really knew. It is a processing song.
