I never thought about using an Anamorphic Lens for photos or portraits, but the result with the flares looks amazing! Probably I need such a Lens as well.... Thanks for your video.
Glad to see anamorphic get more attention these days. :) I've enjoyed landscape work with them as well.

I’d happily pay double the price for an AF anamorphic lens! Love the lens but it’s cumbersome to bring an external monitor and focus motor.
They look amazing
Should have did this when the was all the orange smoke from the wildfires

thanks for the video.. would like to try this style of photography on my next trip... unfortunately Sirui doesn't make the lens that suits my aging canon 6D for this purpose 😅
Magic, have you ever used a soft filter when shooting portraits on bright sunny days? I've seen the video that you did on the black mist filter, but, as far as I understand, the soft filter reduces contrast without causing the blooming effect in the highlights. If you did, what are your thoughts? Which strength would you use to just even out the tones on the face a little bit?

@@MagicWeddingPhotographer Yeah, it would be awesome if you did a video on it. Tiffen and ofter manufacturers make good ones. I often take pictures in midday sun and it would be cool if there was a filter that brought down the contrast a little without affecting sharpness too much.

So, it's like a regular wide lens, but cropped to something like 2:1 ...
We walked pretty much the same path, but a few days later :' (

Really iconic photographs.👏 But I think they may be even better with the LUT profile of a classic film stock. 8 like anamorphic lenses. Unfortunately these lenses are not available for my 90D. 😢
What about shooting a panorama? Then you can use whatever f-stop you'd like and even experiment with a panorama with a shallow depth of field.

@@MagicWeddingPhotographer Yeah, but as I was watching the video, I realized that that would only work for posed images, but you were shooting candid stuff. What about shooting with a wide lens like a 20mm, framing with the idea of cropping in post, and then doing the 2:35:1 crop in LR/PS?

@@Daniel_Ilyich yup! Multiple exposure would only work for landscapes. And yes, you could use wide angle like 20mm and crop it in post. The only problem would be that you would still see full 3:2 when shooting, so you would need to frame in your head to get the image you want
