Alright, it's that end-of-year time. Always eager to see what earl's been reading. Dororo definitely made my list. Good to hear Search and Destroy will finally see an English printing. I've got the original issues and some doubles of Propeller Man. Collecting them in the bins was a fun effort back in the day (the same with Little Ego and Catalan's early publishing efforts) Sacco's The Great War is phenomenal. Good to see Dick Tracy. I've only the Blackthorne Publishing reprints and some of the early collected hardbound books. Nick Knatterton looks really good!

This is a fantastic idea and I'm ready to dive into this - and the subsequent episodes - with snacks and a drink! Cheers!

The Vagabond art beckons me, but I don't want the whole series. Is there one volume of the ones you've read where the art stands out the most?

nope, the art is consistent top notch... at least in the first 6 volumes that I've read so far. If I will sell my books in the future (IF!) I probably would keep Vol.5 in which the storyline with the deaf samurai kicks in.

Love these episodes you do at the end of the year. For one reason or another, I have been a bit burnt out on comics these last few months. I’m sure I’ll come back to my hobby at some point and maybe watching these videos will even help me recover a little of my passion.

would be great if I could nudge you back into comics... but it's normal to have phases, at least I had them from time to time as well

Heyhey, to find somebody who, after all these years, still enjoys „Propellermann“ is a nice surprise! The text had to be „re-translated“ from English to German back then, because it was someone at Dark Horse who decided where to position the speech balloons and which size they should have ... and, of course, those Dark-Horse-balloons didn't fit to Matthias' German skript, so someone else had to re-shape the text ... Just one of those problems from the pre-digital era. And guess who got the job. 😇 With 1000 cheers, JRN

I always enjoy your videos, but these year end overviews are a wealth of great recommendations. I've been much less active doing reviews lately simply because I haven’t been reading as much. With two children under two and a major home addition underway, I've barely read anything. Looking forward to digging into my own dusty to be read pile and seeking out some of your highlights in the new year!

I've read definitely fewer new titles but a lot of the "old stuff"... that's the reason for five videos of "foreplay" until I'll speak of the actual new comics

hey this is krouch. Merry christmas, my friend! what a cheat yet what a shrewd idea! Just to get these comics spotlighted. Yet every excuse is good enough when it comes to fine art. Thrilled to see what made your rank one. I enjoy these very short comments allowing to speak about a ton of books in a row. But I'd love to also hear some rants, some hymns! Polemics would certainly suit the fast pace of this presentation. Yet I realize this is a favorites list.. I'd still be interested in how your perception of one and the same thing changed over the time. Maybe, if matching, you could briefly address your first encounter with the respective book..? Overall it's fascinating to me how even in times where there's no crucial caesura, tastes and inclinations tend to vary quite dramatically without clear reason. What I mean is when there's not as hard of a cut as for example the difference between what people liked in their childhood or youth and what they enjoy in periods much much later, and yet still a new opinion is formed. Particularly great for gems one unfairly judged beforehand. I find it behaving like that especially in regards of the things I haven't put my focus on for a while, which happen to be comics and films. For both I have come to different priorities and preferences despite not seeming to have developed very altered views if I was being asked to articulate them.

I appreciate these videos but also get frustrated by them. So much of what’s shown I want to read but they’re unavailable in the states. I’m afraid they’d need to be translated for me as well. I feel there’s a huge amount of great content I will never get to know!
